The quality of my recent order was significantly poorer than in my previous review. I ordered gyoza (and requested they be pan fried), beef with enoki mushrooms, vegetable tempura, hot and sour soup and spicy tuna rolls. The only decent dish was the tempura ($6) which was hot, had a good variety of mushrooms, broccoli, sweet potatoes and eggplant and provided more than the 6 pieces advertised. The gyoza ($6) were deep fried despite my request and I'd be willing to bet that they were in fact the type that you can purchase frozen already deep fried and then refried when ordered. They were incredibly dry and hard. The beef enoki mushroom dish ($12) tasted stale and heavily coated in the sauce it is served with. I'm guessing to disguise the fact that the beef was turning. The hot and sour soup ($6) was bland, though the tofu had a nice texture and the soup had lots of white mushrooms in it which I liked. The spicy tuna rolls ($6.5) were the most egregious disappointment. They used canned tuna! It was terrible. I won't be going back. For the $40 this meal cost I could have purchased similar items of superior quality at the grocery store for half the price. read more

The décor is standard, although the lighted floral arrangements in the middle are a nice touch. Seating options include banquettes and tables. The food was not of the quality that I was expecting based on the reviews. We had sesame chicken, salmon sushi, calamari, fried scallops, yam tempura, shrimp tempura, cheese wontons, chicken teriyaki sushi, and chicken gyoza. They worked hard to make sure that none of the dishes contained allergens, which I appreciated. The cheese wontons were quite good. The tempura dishes, the scallops and the calamari were soggy and greasy. The salmon sushi was okay, but the flavouring of the rice wasn't to my liking. The chicken teriyaki sushi tasted off. The gyoza were fine. Beverages were kept filled at all times. Food came out quickly. No issues with service. No return trip for me. read more

Mikado is a great place to have sushi! The food is very fresh and it tastes delicious! The staff is super kind and they will make sure you get what you want. The price is quite reasonable but at times it can get a little expensive (based on 4 people) but it is over all really, really worth it. For those that like free drinks, all their pop/sofa is free and refills will be provided every time you ask. This is a great place for a nice sit down lunch with your family or significant other. They also have a very large variety of dishes, and they all taste fabulous, from fried milk, to a Pringle chip dish, you will enjoy your time here! The space is also very clean and hygienic. I've eaten here many times and it's pretty much the same every time. They are consistent in the quality of the food. Just like some of the other restaurants you order here with a tablet and the servers bring food to the table. My boyfriend and I were hunting for some open restaurants on Labour Day and we heard good things about Mikado from a friend. We picked up a menu inside the door and started to peruse the items. The woman inside invited us in since it was warm inside the entrance. She sat us at a table and gave us some waters. Very nice! We ordered and it took about 10-15 minutes. Since our take-out was over $30 and we paid cash, we got 10% off which was a good deal. We both got some sushi/roll combos which came with a house salad and miso soup. The salad was heavily dressed. I couldn't finish it because it was so saucy. The miso soup was flavourful and full of tofu and seaweed. The sushi itself was alright. Not the best I've tasted but it was decent. The fish was cut thicker than some other AYCE places I've been to recently which was nice. I would probably give this place a shot again for take-out but I dont know if I would pay the $20+ for AYCE. This is the first time I've dined here as Mikado; I've been here a bunch of times when this place was still Conception Sushi. They now do ordering on iPads. The ordering process is a little more difficult than the iPads at 168 Sushi but there is more variety of food. The portion sizes seemed large, which was nice. We were from out of town and wanted sushi. This place was close to our hotel so we took a chance. A great choice...we were pleased! The staff was extremely friendly. The menu was very extensive...a few new rolls to try. The food was very fresh. The only downside was that we were seated by the window which was a bit cold and we wished we had dressed a little warmer for the end of November. A great experience! The food was good, the menu was huge and the staff were friendly. The ipad ordering system is always key for me when getting sushi as I like to see what I am ordering. The cons are that the chairs we sat in were ripped and needed replacing, the beef dishes were fatty and chewy and each time we ordered we would receive something we didn't ask for. This is one of those sushi places that's got a lot of variety and good stuff...but the sushi itself isn't actually that great. It's excellent for bringing people that haven't tried sushi before or that like all the other "stuff" on an all you can eat sushi menu. I usually Love to eat at mikado , I sometimes order to go as well and it's always very good ,I went to Mikado metrowest on Sunday October 6th and Although the sushi was great that night I got really sick . It wasn't until the next day that I realized it was food poisoning cause me and my sister both were sick we both ate the same thing . Amazing food! We are never disappointed in the food when we come here. Wish the servers were more smiley but they did their job though and are attentive and prompt. We were all on call on the weekend and worked through lunch. So we decided that the only way to spend the evening was to get food delivered and put on a movie. Luckily, our place had a HDMI. We decided to get a sushi party tray. The one weird thing we found about their menu is that it sounds very American Chinese. The 56-sushi tray is the best bang-for-buck on the menu. The sweet potato roll is quite good, one of my favorite. The place provides lots of wasabi and soy sauce and ginger. Main complaint is that the rice is too soggy. Stuffing is good though. Early lunch on a weekday. It was not too busy but steady flow of people. I did not want sushi but the Bento Box which was great and plentiful and got extra tempura instead of the California rolls. Went to Mikado for the first time on June 6th with my sister and her boyfriend. First impression was unexpected because the restaurant was a little quiet when we are usually used to a crowded and noisy buffet. This place is the best sushi I've ever had in London. It beats all other competitors, even sushi made at grocery stores (superstore, Remark's, etc). The cheese wontons are to die for- if you have never tried them before I would highly recommend order 2 to start. The sashimi was amazing too. Thicker cut, and cold- these are by far the biggest portioned slices I've seen at an AYCE. I loved it. Everyone loved almost everything that was ordered- which was about 2-3 items from each section on the menu. Elaine was our waitress and she was awesome with refills, clearing, and even answering any questions we had. I wasn't surprised to find out she is one of the owners- you can tell she cares about each guest. This is my new spot for sushi. Not only was the kitchen and service fantastic, but seeing her family helping around working hard- this is where I want to spend my money when I go out for sushi. read more

I've eaten here many times and never had an issue. Yesterday I went there and decided not to order any sushi, but rather try their other meals (rice, noodles, etc). My family and I have been here many times over the last couple of years but recently the servers have gotten worse, the food is now sub par (not fresh) and they keep increasing the prices. The most annoying thing is that their two small children spend hours there and the worker sits right beside and prepares the sushi which seems very unsanitary. On our last visit, we waited for 1.5 hours for an order to arrive and there were four tables in total in the restaurant. This seems to be the norm for this place and they don't really care when you ask where your order is. I'd like to know what kind of place opens at 11 a.m. and no one's there at 10 a.m.? Don't ask me how I know this... But most restaurants have people in there preparing food early in the morning. This place says it's open at 11 a.m. and trust me no one's going to be there till 11 a.m. working in the kitchen. So what I want to know is what the hell are they feeding people?
