The technician came Jan. 16, removed the pilot light and said he would return with the new part. He came back Jan. 19, after the storm forecast. He didn't have the right connection for the new part, but assured me it would be fixed by the end of the week, "even if I have to work on Saturday." On Thursday, he contacted me, said he had the right part, and would be there at 8 a.m. Friday. At 7:30 am, I got an automated message saying my job was canceled. I contacted the tech, who said he knew nothing about it. A short time later, I got a message from the company -- the message was a misfire. But no one would respond or tell me when or if my repair was still scheduled. By Saturday, with the storm bearing down on us, I hadn't heard from anyone. I made repeated calls and messages, to the company and to the technician (704-506-0501). Finally, a man from 888-840-5788 called and told me I was getting a refund. I told him I didn't want a refund, I wanted a working fireplace in an ice storm. He claimed they still didn't have the part, even though I was told Thursday that they did. I would suggest NEVER GIVING THIS COMPANY A CHANCE. I have a handcapped family member, and if the power goes out, I'm stuck. After the storm is over, I'd like to do business with a reputable company, if anyone can suggest one.

Recently Tim of SirVent arrived to clean and inspect our chimney. He spent the first 15 minutes talking about unrelated issues. I then take him inside to set up. Five minutes later he begins cleaning. Five minutes later he goes out to his truck with his equipment. He spends the next 30-45 minutes talking about his previous experience with fireplace cleaning in Colorado. His inspection consisted of trying to look up the chimney with his iPhone. He commented that he could see light from above but no ski indicating a cap on fireplace. I told him the damper was closed so he couldn't see the light from above and he said it must've been the flashlight from his camera that he saw. How can you inspect a fireplace with an iPhone. No telescopic camera was used. How do you thoroughly clean a fireplace and chimney in five minutes? I contacted the manager and he stated it was reasonable to clean the chimney in 5 minutes since we had work done 2 years prior. He also stated that to do a thorough inspection would cost more. When you ask for an inspection(which we did) we expected it to include the chimney. I don't need someone to inspect my firebox, I can see that for myself. The bill was over $250 for 5 minutes of cleaning and an inspection of firebox. What a ripoff.

When Kevin arrived on time he explained what he was going to do and put down drop cloths and brought in his equipment. The cleaning was done from the fireplace to the top of the chimney. I do not use my wood-burning fireplace on a regular basis, but it had been seven years since it had been cleaned and desperately needed attention. He even removed the wood I had loaded for my next fire and then proceeded to remove the damper for access to the flu. Within a half an hour everything was done and there was no dust whatsoever in the house. He then proceeded to go up on the roof and check the top of the chimney and found that I had some cracks in the crown of the chimney. He took photographs and explained what needed to be done. I am very pleased with his thoroughness and professionalism and would highly recommend him to anyone in the area.
