We walked around on the grounds and noticed that there is a separate patio and a bathroom with seating outside. The women's bathroom was clean. Now to the restaurant. We walked in the restaurant and it wasn't very big. You could see the menu on the wall, the ordering counter was close, the food pickup counter was next to the ordering counter, the seating was in the middle, and the bar at the other end. After walking in and checking out the menu we walked up to the ordering counter. The person that took our order was friendly and patient with me. I wanted the El Burger that was listed on the menu but I didn't notice that it's only available on Wednesdays. The person told me that so I checked the menu out again to see what burger I wanted. I decided on LeRoy's Smash Burger which comes with smashed brisket patties, pickles, bacon & onion jam. I ordered mine without cheese. It came with a choice of a side so my husband and I picked the potato salad to share. I also wanted to try the Smoked Pork Belly Menudo which substitutes the traditional tripe meat with smoked pork belly. This came with onions, cilantro, and chopped jalapenos that you could add if you wanted. My husband and I decided to share LeRoy's Nachos which has tortilla chips covered in beans, queso, avacado, pico, crema, salsa, BBQ sauce and jalapenos. These come with your choice of meat and we decided on brisket. My husband ordered one taco to try called Chancho La Panza which comes with pork belly, beans, cilantro, and queso fresco. The Food. LeRoy's Smash Burger was delicious. I liked the flavor of the meat and the jam. The potato salad had a mustard flavor to it which I didn't mind. The Nachos were tasty. The BBQ sauce in them gave them a hint of sweetness in the midst of all of the saltier ingredients. The Menudo was spicy. I wasn't expecting it to be so hot but it was tolerable. The smoked pork belly mixed in the soup was good. There was also a crunchy texture mixed in that added to the experience. I tried my husband's pork taco and it was delightful. There was so much flavor packed into a single taco. Overall the experience was positive. The restaurant was small but comfortable, the service was good and the food was fresh and delicious.

But I have to say, We have tried all the BBQ spots in Lockhart, including the famous ones in Austin, and this Gem outshines them all! They were recently featured in TEXAS MONTHLY! https://www.texasmonthly.com/bbq/smokehouse-44-marble-falls/ Food- absolutely amazing! Brisket was cooked perfectly and flavor was the perfect mix of salt, pepper, fat render and you just taste the beef! (You know what I mean) Macaroni- my kids loved it! Wanted second and thirds! Beans- cooked perfectly with big hunks of pork belly in it! Coleslaw- I loved it! It was a perfect amount of tart and sweetness. Little bits of apple in it set it off. BBQ Sauce- Yall- help me help them bottle that stuff up! I will POUR that all over my bbq sandwiches. The meat didn't need it but it could be a star all on its own. Chicken- so flavorful and juicy Turkey- soooooo good! Tender and lean at the same time! Pork belly- mic drop, and pick it back up again for the sausage and pork ribs!! They all get five stars!! Special section for the Dessert- ok so I'm a calorie counter and usually just taste the desserts to quench my sweet tooth. But when I tasted the cobbler/bread pudding and the banana pudding I couldn't help myself. Even if you are full- GET THE DESSERT!! Service- I literally felt like I got Hugged from my aunt when the sweet lady taking orders said hello! Like she knew me and was welcoming me over for a home cooked meal! Seating- we went on a hot day but the shade and benches felt like I was back home at a BBQ with my family! Eating amazing food with a breeze and a perfect amount of warmth. I'll be making the trip out here an unhealthy amount for this BBQ!

Very rustic country location and once inside you know you are in a Texas country BBQ. Staff was friendly and helpful choosing our food. They suggested going with the family portions to share which was perfect. For 3 people we ordered 1/2 lb each of lean brisket (moist also available), turkey, and garlic sausage. For sides we went with coleslaw and charro beans. Way too much food for us, but perfect for a large leftover plate. Consensus of all three of us was: -Brisket had a perfect blackened crust, with a good red smoke ring. Very little fat and still very moist meat. 7 of 5 stars! -Turkey was well seasoned, very flavorful, and smoked to perfection. 6 of 5 stars! -Garlic sausage was the home run here. When we ordered they only had the garlic one left. I was hesitant to order expecting a strong garlic flavor. It was the perfect garlic hint of flavor with the amazing in-house made sausage. Outer skin had a snap when you bit into it and the flavor of the sausage is a melody of bbq flavor that overwhelms the taste buds. 10 of 5 stars! -Coleslaw was vinegary with some fresh sliced red pepper and fresh jalapeños which was a good touch. 5 of 5 stars. -Charro beans were flavored to perfection. 5 of 5 stars. -And we can't forget the bbq sauce. This was the perfect pairing for the meat. Obviously house made with the perfect balance between spicey and sweetness. Wife and I both said it was the best we ever had. Blows away the sauce from our favorite bbq location here in San Antonio. Another 10 of 5 stars! Fresh squeezed lemonade for all of us and they brought us free refills. Probably the best bbq we have had....ever!

Brisket and burnt ends were both top notch. Smoke ring on the brisket and peppery crust on the burnt ends. They had some specials that looked amazing too. We thought in our first time here we should sample the staples ....brisket, burnt ends and turkey. (also tempted by the confit sausage...) The side of beans we got was also made with love. Lots of depth of flavor. We split some of the homemade desserts as well and both the cookie and butter cake were great.

Where to begin? None of the meats are seasoned well and they lacked the smoky flavor promised by the stacks of wood outside. I asked if the sides were made in house and was assured they are. The potato salad is, for sure, out of a carton - both the potato texture and flavor made me think of prepared grocery store quality. The cole slaw was fresh, but had no flavor. I had to heavily salt and pepper everything to eat it. Even the beans were straight out of a can. Unfortunately, their homemade sauce didn't make any of it more palatable. It's thin in texture and flavor. Little to no sugar, no cayenne for heat, no vinegar to balance. Just a red sauce that didn't taste anything akin to barbecue sauce. Unfortunately, this was our one chance to try the famous Texas BBQ and my only hope is that it's not indicative of all Texas BBQ.

I'd been wanting to try this place for months. After finally going on a Friday night, I can…read moreconfidently say it was a complete waste of time--and one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had in a long time. Let's start with the cashier. A high school-aged guy who couldn't have made it clearer that helping customers--especially disabled ones--was beneath him (I'm using my residual vision to see you, Mr. Curly Blond Boy). My friend and I are both visually impaired, so we asked a few simple, reasonable questions about the menu since we couldn't read the board. Instead of answering, he repeatedly pointed at it like that magically made it visible to us. We explained. We asked again. He still refused to actually help. This wasn't just bad service--it was an outright failure to provide even the most basic level of accessibility or human decency. Ordering turned into a ridiculous guessing game. Items were out, but instead of clearly communicating that, he made us drag the information out of him piece by piece. At one point, when we asked for mac and cheese and greens, he said, "We don't have that," and just... stopped. No clarification. No effort. We were left to guess which item he meant. That's not quirky or busy--that's lazy and dismissive. The food didn't come close to making up for it. The sausage and turkey were fine, though the sausage had jalapeño with zero warning--apparently transparency isn't a thing here. The brisket was so dry it was essentially inedible. The mac and cheese had decent flavor, but the pasta was cooked into complete mush and again the secret jalapeño zing was added. It's hard to overstate how unacceptable this experience was. When a business can't be bothered to answer basic questions or make even minimal accommodations for visually impaired customers, that's not just poor service--that's exclusionary. The place was not quirky, iconic, or appealing in any way. The decor was as generic as the food and service. It looks like they had a nice outdoor area, but we couldn't find a way out there to check it out. Apparently there was also a bar, but we didn't know it. We were given to cups to which we added water from the soda fountain. There are too many great BBQ spots out there to spend your time and money at one that treats accessibility like an inconvenience and customers like a burden. I won't be back.

TLDR: Was visiting my daughter, we decided to do a little road trip to some hill cntry towns. I…read morethought we would do a bbq sandwich tour/comparison. I'd earmarked Old 300 as the place in Blanco, to go up against the others. We arrived on a Monday about 1:20p. After lunch hour, and the place was packed. (that's an indicator right there. One of the slowest days for restaurants during the week, and not at peak meal time.) The line went quick. They have what's listed as a "BBQ Sandwich" - it's a blend of chopped brisket and chopped pulled pork (not in long, stringy strands) together. We were going to hit other towns & sandwiches, so for the two of us we just ordered one sandwich and a side of potato salad. We got it to-go. Sat at an empty table. Got ourselves fixins - some doctored up onions (sliced, seems like they sauté them a little in butter and then top w fresh cracked black pepper), pickles, and both their Sweet and their Spicy sauces. They brought it out quickly, less than 5 min. We opted to just eat it there instead of take it to the next town. We topped with pickles, onions, and the Sweet sauce. Oh my freakin' sweet Lord! In this small Texas town with an unassuming spot a block and a half off the main road going through town, easily one of the top 5 bbq sandwiches of all time - no joke! To break it down, we tasted all items individually. The onions are delectable - softened from the sauté, good moisture from the butter, delicious. The Sweet sauce is crazy good. A fantastic balance of sweet, tang, & slight bite. I've never said this before but it's true - told my daughter, "I could just sit here and dip these pickles in this sauce for the next 30 minutes and be completely satisfied." The sauce, yes, is that good. Daughter is not a heat/spice lover, but she did try the Spicy sauce and we both thought it was definitely tame as far as heat goes. We both thought the Spicy sauce was okay. The Sweet sauce, though, stellar! We were overwhelmed by how good it all was. When we got to the car, I said, "All the ingredients together was like a symphony." Next time I visit her, am absolutely gonna suggest another drive out to Blanco specifically, to try some other items on the menu. But I can say this, for the BBQ Sandwich, pickles, doctored onions, and Sweet sauce alone, Old 300 is worth a generous drive and you will 100 percent be happy as a lark. Thanks for fantastic meal, Old 300. Will most definitely be back.
