For someone from NJ, Mike's Cafe is an absolute safe haven for anyone used to more diversity or who wants something different and lighter from the omnipresence of burgers, steaks, bbq, and fried or dairy heavy food. It's one of the only--likely the only--old school, non-fusion Asian restaurant in Little Rock. Consider that when we parked, one of their older Vietnamese cooks was taking a smoke break outside. Classic haha. It just feels like they've been here for a while. When asked, Asian locals recommend here or K-Pot for good Asian food so it seems Asians here mainly cook at home. A1 Viet fried egg rolls: Solid. More meaty but fried well. A6 Fried chicken wings: Under seasoned but fried really well. P2 Pho tai: Solid + better than some in the tri-state area. A10 Grilled pork banh mi: Personally prefer my bread slightly more toasted but theirs has a good color and body with a slight sheen outside and a soft airy crumb. Generous amount of pork relative to the rest and well-marinated. You can taste the lemongrass! Lighter on the do chua pickles. Sandwich itself is more petite and cute here. Also better than some in the tri-state area. What's different from what I'm used to in the Northeast: - Do chua pickles here have cabbage alongside the radishes + carrots. - Spring rolls don't come with lettuce or other accoutrements like cilantro/culantro for wrapping. - Nuoc mam is predominantly sweeter here. I'm used to a lighter or stronger, more garlicky or tangy nuoc mam. They offer a discount if you pay in cash. read more

This place was kind of nasty. Thé cleanliness and safety were primary issues. There was a massive slick spot in the hallway and I almost slipped and broke something. Hope the ownership corrects these issues and inspects their operation according to OSHA standards. read more

The girl behind the counter was rude. I walked in & asked if I could sit anywhere & she told me to give her my drink order while I was at the counter so she wouldn't have to walk over to the table. The reason I didnt walk out right there is because other people on yelp seem to have given them a good rating. The saving grace was the person who did end up serving me, nice guy. My waitress is very polite and helpful, she let me know what was on the drink menu and what they were out of. However, I have to say this... wasn't very impressive Pho. I had Pho before at the Pho House in Hot Springs and you could taste the cinnamon and herbs and spices in the soup. The bean sprouts seemed a bit past their prime but that could've been due to the season we're currently in. The meatballs in it were weirdly tough and chewy. I've had tripe before and it was just as expected, textured and rather flavorless, the beef seemed weirdly.. green in some spots. I don't know. The whole soup tasted just off and wrong. HOLY MOLY!! 10/10 We start with the egg rolls. YUMM I get the Veggie Pho, my fiancé gets the Flank Pho. You get hit in the face the authenticity of flavors with each bite, that takes me back to childhood flavor memories!! There's something about the broth. It has magical healing powers. But what's my favorite about this place?? At the end of the day, you will see all the men from the kitchen gather at one of the round tables with food and buckets of beer. I love the food here! A hidden gem! The menu is huge. Never seems like a lot of people inside but they do a big to go business and I hear that nights are busy. We have not been during prime lunch or dinner times. Also you can call ahead and eat when you get there or take it to go, just let them know. Didn't look like much from the outside but the food was very good. They have a large menu but I really liked the variety. Everything we had was good. The only negative I could think of is that I asked for a water and it tasted like tap. Other than that the food was great and the service was great. The staff was very kind and attentive. I ordered carry out from here but waited for my food in the restaurant. While waiting, I noticed the family friendly atmosphere of the space. For example, there are long tables for large parties and an open floor plan. There are also smaller, more intimate tables on the sides of the restaurant near the window. I ordered beef pho, chicken pho and friend spring rolls. Can I brag for a minute on the spring roles and the sauce that came with those spring rolls?! It was really very tasty!! The pho seemed to be prepared in the traditional way, with the beef appearing to be on the raw side, prior to placing it into the broth. The pho was also very good. I'd recommend it. I noticed quite a lot of food options on the menu that I'd consider in the future. This would be a great place for lunch or dinner with family or friends. You should try it!! read more

It took an entire 31 minutes to get one bowl of Pho. There wasn't really that many people in the restaurant either. I have to say that I was quite surprised because normally you can get a bowl of pho in about five minutes or less in any given Vietnamese Pho restaurant. The service was good and the food was as expected. I came across this restaurant because I'm traveling through Arkansas from Texas to Indiana. It was a nice pitstop, but I wish it could've been much quicker. I was anticipating a 20 minute stop for a quick bite, but it turned into nearly an hour. In my rush to get back on the road, I Inadvertently left my credit card and sunglasses on the table. I called to find out if they have them after I left and they only had my credit card, which means someone stole my glasses. Just as a footnote and something important to know, this restaurant is located in a very impoverished and shady side of town. I didn't feel comfortable there alone. Their pho is the best I've ever had; I get the beef combination (PHỞ ĐẶC BIỆT) with tribe, meatballs, flank steak, and rare beef & she is vegan - her pho was filled with a variety of delicious veggies. It's served with the freshest basil, jalapeños, and bean sprouts; on the table they offer chili garlic sauce, hoisin sauce, sriracha, soy sauce, etc - basically all you need to customize the broth to your liking. The service is inviting, fast, prices are reasonable, and the food is great! They require masks for the safety of patrons... the only place in Little Rock, Arkansas I go for authentic Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup). I usually get Rare beef and flank noodle soup. I love that the beef comes thinly sliced and uncooked, so that I can cook it in the hot broth to the ideal level. The beef broth is fresh and tasty. for vegetarians, they are able to make vegetarian broth! So everyone can enjoy ! read more

Bob and I had our almost weekly lunch at Mike's today. We told everyone that we are proud grandparents of our Son's first child Evelyn born this week. We had our usual wonderful meal of egg rolls and today topped it with the most delicate pork chop with rice washed three times before cooking, fresh cucumber, carrot, cabbage and parsnips. This is a wonderful lunch/dinner. So healthy. Almost every week, I want to go back to the kitchen and tell the cooking staff how much my husband and I appreciate the wonderful, healthy food they serve us each week. But they are so busy that we do not want to interrupt their day. Not only are they wonderful chefs, but when my Beagle dogs were still with me they would always offer to send home some bones that my dogs would chew on for days.
