This is one of my favorite places to eat in Little Rock. They have a large and very diverse menu with something for everyone. From simple fried rice dishes to all types of Asian foods. They might claim to be a Vietnamese restaurant but they do have a couple more traditional Chinese food options available. The staff has always been super nice and helpful explaing what is in different dishes. I highly suggest going to Mike's. read more

A work in progress. Service IS good and friendly, as reported. The spring rolls were fresh and delicious, as reported. My pork and egg roll vermicelli salad was excellent, as expected. They have a nice (albeit small) selection of beers, including Singha. Score! I continually asked about levels of spice in dishes, so my waiter brought a chili relish tray to my table. Score! The menu is extensive and everything looks/appears to be fresh and delicious. I am looking forward to returning and trying their Tom Rim and their Sate dishes. The only detraction from lunch was current popular music, played quite loudly. I frickin despise that crap "Hey!" song, and not very fond of Mumford and Sons, but had to suffer through both played rather loudly. Oh well... The restaurant is clean, well kept, well laid out and rather upbeat in decor. Parking for the restaurant is at a premium and posed a bit of a challenge. Nonetheless, a nice and welcomed addition to the ethnic-cleansed options in the Greater Little Rock area. I look forward to a return visit! read more

I've eaten Phô at over 40 Vietnamese restaurants. If this place wasn't good I would have no problem saying so. Lucky for Little Rock, Mike's is great. The Phô broth was great, it came out clear-not cloudy, and was not heavy with excess fat. The Bahn Mi was excellent too, fresh bread and packed was the with the usuals. The staff at Mike's is professional and friendly. My girlfriend and I have been here twice, and had two different waiters. Both were very helpful getting her vegan phô (also a tasty broth and loaded w veg.) I highly recommend this restaurant. I'll be back to try the rest of the rather comprehensive Vietnamese-Chinese menu. The prices are fair if not on the low side! read more

Authentic vietnamese food. We got a bowl of pho and stir fried shrimp. The bowl of pho was huge, the broth was very flavorful, noodles were perfect. The stir fried garlic shrimp was super tender! You could tell the shrimp was fresh. For both it was $20 (the shrimp was around $11). Staff was very friendly and attentive, more than happy to see if we needed extra bowls or plates since we were sharing. Coming from los angeles, its difficult to find legit asian food in MS/AR. I grew up in a community with a large Vietnamese population and I love the food at Mike's. This is authentic and real! Sometimes I snack and sometimes it's meal time, but great either way. Order an entree per person and share around the table. read more

Not bad for pho, but I worry that their menu is so large they can't really focus on their Vietnamese options. There are a plethora of average Chinese spots in the city, but only two for Vietnamese (Mikes and Pho Thanh My). The pho is pretty good. Broth is a little too sweet, and doesn't have quite enough meat in the meat/noodle ratio, but the condiments are fresh and flavorful, and their noodle bowls (Bun) are really good. Skip the spring rolls, fresh and fried. Nothing special. Basically all vermicelli and the peanut sauce isn't great. Prices are fairly expensive for the area of town and quality. read more

I made a follow up visit to Mike's to get some Pho Bo for an ill family member. Our usual nearby place was unable to fulfill our order, but Mike's came through like a champion. We were surprised by the generosity of Mike's as we had more noodles and Thai basil than we knew what to do with. The broth as a bit saltier and not as rich as we were accustomed, but tasty none-the-less. It was good to see several cars already there and more tables filled, Hopefully MIike's will be around for a while to meet our Vietnamese food needs. read more

Went here for lunch at a little after 11:00 am. Waited 50 minutes for the waiter to tell us that they were short handed in the kitchen and would be a little longer. Since I had to return to work by 12:00 I left without lunch. I have eaten here before and each time it has taken longer and longer. Won't be back. read more

This place doesn't even deserve a star. The customer service is the worst I have ever seen. They take way too long to make a soup that i called in at 11 for a togo order. What a culinary surprise. The pho is fantastic, served piping hot with exceptionally fresh basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos and limes. The beef is very lean and thin--with generous portions. Often pho beef in restaurants is fatty or gristly. Mike's is the best. Taking one star off for the staff/owner/server not wearing masks, posing an unnecessary covid risk--one I'm not willing to take. Will go back when the corona virus vaccine is developed or when I find they are taking better precautions. read more

Mike's is amazing. I come here at least 3-4 times a month. It consistently has the BEST pho in town, hands down. Their broth is always clear, rich, subtly complex. I love this place. I've had the fried eggrolls with nuoc cham sauce and they are always hot and crispy. The pickled vegetables (carrots, daikon radish, and cabbage) are refreshing and crisp and nice counter to fried eggrolls. The fresh spring rolls are delicious as well with a peanut hoisin dipping sauce. The bahn mi is a steal at $3 for a huge sandwich. I love this place! The service is attentive, the atmosphere is cozy. The restaurant is not clean, I had a fly buzzing around my table, the music is about as loud as a dance club and incredibly intensive and not conducive for a good meal. TL;DR Review: Run, don't walk, to Mike's Cafe and maybe ask for a recommendation? Disclaimer: I've eaten at Vietnamese restaurants probably five times in my life (including twice here) and am not a huge fan in general of the (other) restaurants around here. I find them expensive and anti-climactic. The wife said she craved pho so I was looking for a place to eat good Vietnamese food and saw a decent average score for Mike's Cafe on Yelp. I read a few reviews and had to witness it personally, having not been impressed with Little Rock Vietnamese food. The name conjures a greasy spoon, but the implication of the high score coupled with the fact that it's not American cuisine was quite intriguing! A word about the menu: The names of all of the dishes are in Vietnamese with vague English descriptions below and there's SO many menu items that I literally stopped counting at 100 (seriously, no exaggeration). I'll admit I was somewhat daunted. I ordered take-out, and drove straight there. It's a LOT nicer on the inside than you'd expect a place called Mike's Cafe located in the area of Asher and University to be. I walked to the bar where I was warmly greeted and invited to have a seat while they finish up my order. It didn't take long. I ordered the BANH MI THIT (Vietnamese Sandwich), which is listed as an appetizer, and COM TAM GA NUONG (Grilled Chicken and Steamed Broken Rice). The sandwich was heaven, but with splashes of hell. Though the menu doesn't warn you of the peppers, if you don't like spicy food, DO NOT ORDER BANH MI THIT! It's flaming, but the flames are blue; it burns so clean. The beef on it is sweet and sticky, tender and delicious, then you meet the chili and it's hot. The huge, fresh flavors are in your face and furious. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a little heat on a sandwich. COM TAM GA NUONG was also very good. The chicken's sweet and beautifully cooked and the rice is sticky. It's served with a unique salad that is also good. I'd order this exact same meal (and probably will) if I had it to do again, but the menu is so big I might just try something completely different. The one thing that is clear about Mike's Cafe is that I love their food, and more importantly, so does my wife. So we'll be back. Soon. Like maybe tomorrow! read more

Arrived about 1115, not big, but grew as lunch progressed.Very happy with the visit,were greeted by multiple staff while we walked thru the door. Had the fried Vietnamese egg rolls, arrived super hot out of the kitchen w the dipping sauce(3.00 not a thick sauce,shredded carrots,maybe some ginger in it),and side of pickled cabbage (very tasty, not super acidic, hint of sweetness ). Tried the bahn mi thit (3.00 great flavor, pickled vegetables,cilantro,super soft bread) dare anyone to find a $3 sandwich that tasted this good. Had combination fried rice, and beef chow mein. Two massive plates of food.about 10$ each(See pics ) rice was well done,great mix of meats & vegetables carrot,celery,peas,beef,chicken,shrimp. Beef chow mein came very artfully displayed (huge pieces of beef,whole straw mushrooms,baby bok choy,sliced carrots,very crispy noodles,on top of the light sauce, that softens the noodles from the bottom up,as you eat thru it. Saw monstrous bowls of Pho go by, these bowls would be the equivalent of a Jethro sized bowl, not too mention the plate of condiments that went with them. Have no complaints at all. This place has been excellent sometimes, but like tonight we ordered pho carry out, and it's awful. The broth has absolutely no flavor and tastes like plain warm water. I noticed it was a different shade of yellow/brown than normal, but everything else looked the same. Sat down to eat and can't bring myself to even eat half of it. Husband having the same issue (we're not sick). It's a $20 dinner so it sucks to get home and have to throw it out. read more

We were excited to try this place, but after waiting too long for our server to bring menus, (he just forgot about us, and they weren't even that busy) and having a good look (and smell) around, we left. It doesn't look clean at all and smells worse. The service and atmosphere, combined with a seeming lack of vegetarian options and sketchy surrounding neighborhood is too much to overcome - I'd rather learn to make my own pho and spring rolls at home. read more

I love the diversity of the menu. I've been here several times now and have tried one of the hot pots, the pho, the spring rolls, and a few other dishes. I've enjoyed it all immensely. The shining star, that I always get now when I go there, is the pickled vegetable side. I normally don't like the traditional, vinegar pickling method, but they pickle the cabbage, carrots, and other vegetables in a sweet pickling liquid that is delicious. Mike's has proven to me their cluelessness on half of the occasions I've eaten here. Once it was absurdly salty for two different entrees and was told "oh we're using a new sauce we just switched to": no excuse at all. Test a new ingredient to see if it works! Last night there was a 1/4 cup of thick, sandy, un-reconstituted satay paste in my dish. Green leaf lettuce substituted for Thai basil; over-frozen and mealy shrimp; Lowest grade imitation crab meat; 100 entrees on the menu; 7 widely different variations of ceiling light fixtures; too bright lighting; full-sized bar serves only beer; staff kicking you out promptly at 9pm Friday closing time; staff presumes customers ignorance of Thai and Vietnamese food. it is cheap, so fill up on instant mixes thrown together. read more

I'm so sad cuz Mike's cafe used to be my favorite. But NOT anymore. I don't know what happened to the Chef that was there. The food tastes sooooo different. I miss the old Mike's cafe food. Pho noodle was overcooked but when I addressed it, they brought me new one. The fried rice I ordered came out when I was almost done eating (prolly forgot or Ionno what took them so long). Fried rice tasted so different from before, its not tasty at all. I brought my husband with me the next time, again for lunch. We were seated and while they were bringing us our waters, hubby went to the restroom to wash his hands. He came back a few minutes later and said "we need to leave". He has never said that before, so I said ok and we left. After we left, he told me that while he was washing his hands, an employee came out of one of the stalls and walked straight out, not stopping to wash his hands... We had the P3 pho, spring rolls, beef and peppers, and bahn mi. We loved the bahn mi- it was super tasty and CHEAP at $3. The pho was good too, but I didn't like the texture of the meatballs. Next time I'll just order the thin slices beef pho. The beef and peppers were very good- just the right amount of spicy and sweet. The spring rolls I wouldn't order again- they were not fried, which I didn't expect. All the food tasted fresh and authentic. The food here is amazing! I've been to a few pho places in LR and Jacksonville but the pho at Mike's is the best by far! They also have a great menu that is easy to remember (#3, C8) I drive across LR in lunch traffic because it's worth the trip. The prices are also very good for the amount of food you get. Definitely over-hyped. I tried both the Combination Pho and the hu tieu here with my friend. I heard great reviews about it but it was literally the meme of expectations versus reality. The broth for the pho is cloudy and tastes full of MSG. The noodles and ingredients for hu tieu was off (they tossed whatever frozen food they could find in that bowl whether or not it belonged in there.) The service also took a really long (being seated, waiting for the food, and even getting our check.) Does not recommend. read more
