We each ordered one of the dessert items which are cake or similar in a shot glass with frosting or mousse or some other topping. They were good, again nothing great. No specially prepared sauces for the entrees to make things pop or standout, just basic dinner fare. On a positive note, food was much better than the Longhorn steakhouse chain or similar establishment.

As an RU grad that lived a stone's throw away from the Mine Street location of this venerable New Brunswick institution around 2000, my heart was filled with joy when the sad location of a Cluck U on the corner of Main and Bridge rose from the ashes to be transformed into a Hansel 'n Griddle. The popcorn buffalo chicken crisp I had was everything I wanted it to be. Sure, that combo didn't exist when I was in school, but the cheese and the tortilla tasted like my memories. Everything new was reminiscent of the quality of ingredients I held so close to heart. In all honesty, I mean gut. They even had my favorite drink to pair with a crisp in the cooler, an all natural lemonade. Try finding one of those at your local convenience store. The ambiance was much different from the original. Clean, modern, almost like a Bobby Flay burger joint or dare I say Chipotle. The old place was a shack with some red paint and a griddle. Oh boy, what a griddle. Service was quick and friendly, something that can be all too foreign in the likes of both the Ville and New Brunswick. It's normally a 20 minute drive home but because of the rain, it took nearly 30. When we got home, the sub was not soaked to the point where the bread was falling apart, which shows they add just enough and the bread is sturdy. It was just as good as I remember it. I wish I could find someplace similar closer to home but don't mind the drive back to K&S.
