My husband and I stopped in for breakfast while in Daytona for the holidays. While it was pretty busy, we seated quickly. You can tell this is a place love by locals as the waiters and a lot of the patrons interacted on a first name basis. They must be under new ownership because this group does not have their act together. I've been coming here for years and have never had any issues as a matter of fact we often recommend it. But today it's not even busy as I've seen it before and I had to wait nearly 40 minutes for my food which never showed up. Paid for my beverage and left. They will not survive doing business like this. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had here. This place is amazing for breakfast or lunch, the food is really good and the service is also incredible. You seat yourself, and the menus are on the table. The atmosphere reminds me of the old-school diners. The staff is friendly and helpful. I've never had anything there I didn't like. The omelets are incredible, they have great tuna salad, and the pancakes are so big they cover the plate, they're light and fluffy and so good! I've been continuing to explore the area which I will soon call home, and I was looking for another breakfast spot. One of my colleagues recommended this one, and even though I was staying in Daytona Beach, I took the time and the short drive to find it. What a nice little find. As soon as I walked in the door, I knew this was a place where the locals frequent as many guests were greeted warmly by the staff... which was super friendly by the way, always checking to make sure everything was right, answering questions about the menu items, being genuinely attentive and warm. I thought I would try a little sample of some things so I ordered the special which was kielbasa sausage with eggs and toast. I was able to get a small blueberry pancake as my colleague had noted their pancakes were "really good." I'd been warned the pancakes were dinner plate-sized but the waitress said she could order it smaller. I also ordered some cheesy grits to sample those. And, the food was ok. The kielbasa was tasty with a crunchy sear from the griddle. The over medium eggs were cooked properly. My pancake was full of berries, but wasn't the "wow best I've ever had" which my friend had exclaimed. Maybe it's because I ordered the blueberry ones? And the grits were plain grits with a slice of cheese melted on top. I was lacking a bit of flavor in the grits, some salt or seasoning and some creaminess to go along with the cheese which I had hoped might be blended in. This would have been a three star because of the food, but the staff pushed it up to a four star. I will probably come back and try it again... maybe something different from the menu? Or try their home fries instead of the grits. Regardless, this is a great community breakfast stop, and I'm glad a friend recommended it. read more

Seems to be a very popular spot with the locals there aren't that many diner type restaurants in the immediate area so I was somewhat skeptical when we first walked in, it appeared to be somewhat drab. We grabbed a few seats at the counter, it was crowed with cake plates filled with muffins and cinnamon rolls and a host of other non edible items offered by the typical restaurant food service provider which aren't usually in plain view. The wait was between 10 - 15 minutes a little before 10 AM but the six stools at the bar weren't occupied so we grab two of them avoiding the wait. Our server ran the counter and appeared to direct the floor and oversee everything coming through the window from the kitchen. We ordered the special of the day two eggs two sausage patties and three flapjacks for $5.95 and a more traditional plate with bacon, two scrambled eggs, wheat toast and crispy home fries for $5.25. The flapjacks were exceptional as were the crispy home fries I can say all the food appeared to be high quality and well prepared. I had a bird's eye view of the kitchen staff and the three of them put out an amazing amount of food in short order. They also have a liquor license so Bloody Mary's and Mimosas were also available for about four bucks I did see a few jugs of zing zang mix so I'd say the Bloody Mary's could be a nice choice, the champagne was "Cooks" which mixes with orange juice quite well and what I'd expect for the price. I thought the service was friendly and efficient and the prices are very reasonable. Total time in the restaurant about 30 minutes. I could do this again... read more
