    All of Em'

Stopped by Mike's sandwich shop and had a nice experience. The staff were all super welcoming and the space was super clean and modern but somehow reminiscent of an old-school butcher shop. I got the all of em' sandwich which features prosciutto, mortadella, capicola, and sopressata (hence the "all of em") and it was delicious. What was more cool though was when I asked the guy making the sandwiches if I should get mayo on it and he weighed in with his professional advice and said that it might dry out the meats and suggested I go with oil and vinegar instead. He could have been a jerk and rolled his eyes like "get whatever you want man" but he was super nice and gave me his honest opinion. I really appreciated that. Awesome service with delicious food!

Mike's is a fabulous place for a sandwich and fresh pasta. I stopped in one day and got a couple sandwiches for a lunch with some family. We all shared the fried eggplant which was delicious - it had a tomato jam that made all the difference. The chicken and nduja was also very good, had a nice spicy kick to it. I also got a regular chicken cutlet and fresh mozzarella sandwich, I wanted to try their garlic Mayo but they forgot that on the sandwich. Honestly it's understandable - they are busy. It's a small store but the phone is constantly ringing and these guys are working hard behind the counter. It's located in a residential area so parking isn't an issue at all. I'll definitely try their fresh pasta next time. I got a small container of the regular Mac salad and I honestly don't evened enjoy macaroni salad but this one was truly delicious. Super creamy and tasty. I'll be back to try some more sandwiches and pasta for sure!

Great food, great quality and great service. The sesame rolls (on select sandwiches) really makes the sandwich 10x better. Shop got some new chips and I had to try all of them. Not the most flavorful so definitely recommended for people that don't like aggressive flavors.

We had high hopes for Mikes but the place was your average sandwhich shop and the chicken cutlet sandwhich was not bad but could easily be a lot better. The bread was kind of hard/stale & the cutlets were kind of cold. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable. Also the portion size was good definitely enough food for the price.

Overall, it was okay. I ordered The Nutley sandwich (chicken cutlet, prosciutto, mozzarella balsamic and roasted red peppers on a hero). It was an average, simple sandwich that didn't really stand out. The bread was pretty hard and the chicken cutlets were very thick. I definitely can't complain about portions though; it was a big sandwich for a fair price. The deli itself is very clean and nicely set up. It is strictly a pick up spot with no indoor seating. I did not get any on this trip but they definitely have a great selection of pastas. Looks like a good spot if you're looking to pick up ingredients for a meal at home. The best part, honestly, was the staff. The workers were super friendly and made me feel welcome, which made the experience a bit better.

Pretty damn good. Having just returned from Italy I let them know the bar was high and they recommended the fried eggplant sandwich which can I just say was an absolute treat and then some. The eggplant was more than generous in portion and had the perfectly crispy texture that did not take away from the delicate flavor of the thinly sliced eggplant. The ricotta spread was awesome and the jam added just enough of a tang/sweet flavor that didn't overpower. The bread which I always say really makes or breaks a sandwich was a soft and chewy roll that just tied it all together! For my daughter we had the prosciutto and salami on a sub roll which pictures just don't do justice. The staff was friendly and helpful, and one of the guys gave my daughter a chocolate chip cookie from the counter which was sweet. I must say I was more than pleasantly surprised. Price wise I was thinking it was quite pricey but the size of these sandwiches are more than though for two people or two servings. Parking is side street parking which is tough, and the only other downside would be lack of any seating outside or inside.

If you are in North Jersey and you're looking for a great deli, this is the place. Everything is scratch made from the fresh mozzarella pulled every morning to the savory pasta made in house, and all the amazing sauces of course! I had to try the fried egg plant sandwich, complete with a variety of sauces and fresh whipped ricotta, the combination of salty and sweet was sheer perfection. I also had the vodka Parm sandwich, think chicken Parm but with vodka sauce, oh my God trust me your mouth will thank you. I cannot wait to come back for the fresh pasta!

It took way too long for me to come here, but I am happy I finally did. It's a cute little shop in Nutley offering up a great selection of sandwiches and homemade pastas and sauces (dishes and plain pasta to go). I got the eggplant and it was one of the best I have ever had. The sesame roll was super flavorful, with the perfect bite (hard and soft) that kept it structure the whole time. The eggplant was cooked perfectly, crispy exterior with a soft interior, but not soggy (and super thin). I loved the tomato jam which added a great sweetness while the ricotta whip added a nice salty creaminess that brought the whole sandwich together. I will be back !

Great in every way! Stumbled upon Mikes because I was in the area and starving. Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised with what I found. They only have takeout and it can get busy during lunch. It's obvious this spot is popular. They have homemade pasta options and make sandwiches upon order. I've gone twice now and got the Chicken Cutlet and Italian sandwich options. Both were amazing. Upon recommendation from the nice lady at the cashier station, I tried the truffle mac - Great recommendation and you won't go wrong. Great local spot for sandwiches & pastas!

Delivery: Pretty good sandwiches!! I loved their fried eggplant sandwich so much I tried to savor it best I could. The ricotta and tomato jam are *chef's kiss*. I don't know if you can get the bread toasted if you're not doing delivery but I would love to find out. I also got their meatball sandwich and while it was tasty I don't think it was saucy enough for me. I bought a side of sauce just in case. The meatballs were tasty but I've had more hearty richer meatballs. Just wasn't my style personally. I like a more beef heavy meatball. Would be interested to come in and try the rest of their sandwiches!

So I first discovered them at the Sparta Farmer's Market selling their pasta. We bought a couple of different varieties and they were gone over the course of the next two meals. After the Creste di Gallo was quickly devoured in night one, we had do try the linguine the next night...it didn't disappoint! Turns out they shop is 10 minutes from work so I had to try a sandwich. I went with the Chicken Cutlet...wow! The roll, fantastic. The cutlet, fantastic. The addition of the provolone, roasted red peppers (yes) arugula and balsamic made it complete. The shop is nice, the pasta and sandwich were great. Can't wait to try the sauces and other sandwich options!

Sad that they're closing soon but their eggplant sandwich was truly one of a kind! Will look forward to them reopening as a pasta shop!

Does Mike's have soups? Where can I see a list or is it one soup of the day?

Yes and the soup is Sooo comforting. I have enjoyed their Chicken noodle and Italian wedding soup. I'm sure there are two more soups they offer.

I'm used to getting ravioli from an Italian Superstore that's dotted across Long Island. Good? Yeah maybe but what I grew up with? Nah. I'm in The Bronx and I'm going to stop at Borgatti's Ravioli for our Sunday dinner. Walking into the store, it's very small. There are high glass partitions, no touching just pointing. I see the various pastas and ravioli but I want the big suckas. Small ravioli? C'Mon! I made the best red sauce that I will drown these raviolis in a sea of tomatoes. The small raviolis just can't swim in my pot! The older gentleman behind the counter asks if he can help me. I ask him to open the box and actually show me the larger ravioli. Oh baby, they are large and in charge. Why I walked out with one box still boggles my mind because I should have bought 3. I'm not in the area too often and the extra boxes would have carried me through the winter. I hand over my cash and the gentleman says God Bless to me. I'm not getting blessings on Long Island! When I came home, my wife made the perfect Sunday dinner. Those raviolis came straight from the 70s. Simply perfect. God Bless us, everyone.

But while I waited for a fried seafood dinner order not far off on Mamaroneck Ave., I thought stopping here would be good. Ugggh. I was impressed with Mercurio's pasta supply. An additional item of note, freezers are clearly labeled, pasta is all frozen and there's a good assortment of convenient Italian pre-prepared, pre-packaged pasta+ meat, pasta+veggie filling meals AND more. The Spinach Lasagna (bought for my mom) and Butternut Squash Ravioli (for me) were easily my two top picks. I also picked up Mozzarella Sticks and non-meat Italian red sauce. As an avid seafood lover, I noticed a few seafood-filled pasta which will probably get some other time. I don't think price was bad at all- then again I can't gauge it with anything else. CA$H only- by the way. Even though I didn't make a big buy, by the time I left, I was way past the maybe-I-should-watch-what-I-eat. But I'll enjoy... now.
