Pizza was okay, but the pasta wasn't very good. I had the lasagna. It had 7 noodles and very little ricotta or sauce in between the noodles. My husband had the spaghetti and he said that it wasn't very flavorful. read more

This place has the best pizza. We frequent this area for vacation time, and always fit this place into our itinerary. The crust is great, crispy on the outside, and ooey gooey heaven on the inside. When we were here the pizza was excellent. The video games gave me something to do with my preschooler (walking around looking at the displays). One cool incident was a couple of bikers approaching me - I braced myself for what they might say but what they wanted was to give my child the little teddy bear they had won in one of the games. A nice memory from Mike's. I couldn't give five stars though because I was very tired and hungry and I approached the salad bar with relief - only to be instantly reprimanded (not politely) by one of the workers who pointed out that I was only to use the SMALL plate at the salad bar. I also wanted to thank you for keeping the old pizza parlor style. So many pizza parlors have gone "Bistro" with bright lights and bistro tables. Mike's Pizza has checkered tablecloths, dark wood and private booths for couples and a big table for families. Its a nice environment to enjoy the great pizza. read more

I travel for business, visiting this area multiple times a year. I have always noticed the sign on the building for Best Pizza so I decided to give them a try. While the salad bar was good, with a good selection and it was fresh the service was not customer friendly at all. The person servicing me at the counter did not want to take any extra time, or provide friendly information for someone who has not visited this restaurant before. When the server delivered my food she never even responded to mu smile and a thank-you acting like I was really putting her out. From this visit, I would say be prepared for decent food but certainly not a happy service experience! read more

Use to be hands down the best around . Seems like in the past year the quality has gone down . Ordered a pizza for lunch . Got it home to find out is was not even cooked all the way . Hey, it's a pizza joint not a #star restaurant. And a pretty damn good one. Our first night in town we decided pizza sounded good so tried Mike's and were not disappointed. Very fresh salad bar with many selections, and the pizza was outstanding. Next night we got snubbed at Camps and Far East, (see my reviews) so decided to retrun to Mike's since we knew what to expect. We had the ribs and the fish and fries - both were excellent and the salad bar didn't let us down. The atmosphere is noisy and the place is crowded with folks of all ages. And don't go there if you're not up for staning in line to order at the counter and having your name shouted across the room when your food is ready. I'm down with all that, so for me this is a very cool place with some pretty good food. read more

My husband works out of town in Sonora occasionally, and on his way home he always stops at Mike's and grabs a pizza. I am a foodie and very discerning about pizza. The crust has to be off the charts good, for me to give a pizza place 5 stars. It is what I consider the ideal crust. Slight crispness to the outside, but nice chewy crumb with lots of gluten development. Nice toasty/slightly smoky flavor. This is no mass produced, processed crap..it's the real deal. Their red sauce is herby and tasty, and the Motherlode pizza is our absolute favorite. Love the asparagus. A pizza from Mike's is always a treat, with top quality ingredients. This place has always been good for locals. Something has changed. Ordered a pizza and it was delivered in 10 minutes and it was half cooked. The cheese wasn't even melted. They brought out new salad and it had brown lettuce. Asked an employee if the Angels restaurant was related to the sonora one and she didn't know and didn't bother to find out. I thought the new manager would be more attentive since he did a good job at round table. The pastrami sandwich was fatty and rubbery. Really hard to chew. We won't give up on this place, but hope they make some improvements. read more

Amazing! We have not found pizza this good since La Barbara's (Los Angeles) closed. Excellent - lots of "stuff" on it and a nice crispy, slightly sweet crust. Why doesn't everyone else figure out that more is better when adding the toppings to a pizza? The only downside was the wine list, but most people like beer with pizza so I can't fault them for this. read more
