I don't normally leave reviews but Mike's Pizza has compelled me to share our experience. My husband and I were up in Angels Camp for a couple of days right after the holidays and we decided to get a pizza for dinner. Walking into Mike's reminded me of my childhood smelling the pizza dough, tomato sauce, seeing the red and white checkered tablecloths and plastic plates and cups. The place was packed with families enjoying their time together. Kids where happily playing arcade games while they waited for their pizzas to arrive. We ordered a large half meat lovers and half islands pizza. It took less time than expected and we headed back to eat it back at our condo. The smell of our pizza was incredible we could hardly wait till we got home to open it up. To say we were delighted with our pizza is an understatement. It was by far the best pizza we have had in decades. The only bummer as we see it is that we can't get it delivered to Sausalito where we live. We will definitely be back!!!! read more

While visiting in Jackson, CA, we decided to drive to Angel Camp to eat at Mike's Pizza. Despite the rainy weather outside and a very loud kids party inside our visit was just what we expected. The pizza was great, the salad bar was very fresh and well maintained. We will definitely stop here again when visiting in this area. read more

I grew up on Mike's Pizza. That being said it is the spot that I am least likely to go to if I want pizza. The pizza is pretty good, and I'm a pizza-snob so that is saying something. They also have some of the slowest service in Calaveras County. I have called in orders, waited twenty minutes, driven to pick it up and then waited another 30 minutes before it was ready. I also watched the people in the back do things like touch their faces and their hair and then go back to handling food - disgusting. The atmosphere of the place is dark and not welcoming. In addition most of the staff seems clueless half the time and high the other half. Good pizza is not worth the hassle this place gives. read more

Well the food is good but can't say much about the service. Sat down to enjoy a beer and pizza at the back of the place away from the kids area and was told we had to move because they wanted to sweep and clean the area before they closed....wtf, it was only 9pm, they close at 10pm. So it was more important for them to kick us out of our table so they could clean an hour before they closed. So much for customer service. Well this will be the last time we visit this place again. Manager should be more on top of his employees and their actions. Bad service is always remembered and talked about. But like most businesses, they won't care until it hurts their bottom line. Picked up a Garden Gold and Mother Lode pizza along with a salad to go on our way back to our time share tonight. A couple of locals told us this place has the best pizza around and I would whole heartedly agree! All was delicious and although the pizza may seem a bit pricier than some it's very obvious that they use premium produce. Thanks for a great meal! read more

This review addresses only the take out experience. We were very happy with, but not blown away by, the pizza we ordered. I like having the choice of thin or thick crust, and five sauces: original pizza sauce, creamy garlic, basil pesto, tangy bbq and spicy chipotle. We got a thin crust with original pizza sauce, anchovies, onion and garlic, and it was delicious. I prefer the crust even thinner and preferably charred in a wood burning oven, but that may not be feasible in these parts. Our order was prepared correctly and promptly. I've had my fair share of pizza at many pizza parlors, but let me tell ya, Mike's is the BEST! I copied this from another review but it fit what I feel about Mikes. We eat there a year ago when in the area and could not wait to go there again. We had my Son and daughter-in-law with us this time Sept. 27, 2014 a Saturday night a little busy but had no problems had great service and again great pizza. We eat the left over pizza at Yosemite the next day cold and we all thought it was the best cold pizza we ever had. My Son has his own outdoor pizza oven and can be very snobby about it but he said he was impressed. I have had allot of pizza from allot of different places around the world this is as good as I have ever had. There are different kind of pizza we like this type maybe the people that didn't like it like a different kind. I again think this is just darn good pizza and will eat there any time we are down at Angels Camp. We live something like 537 miles from where we live wish we were closer. read more

We have been coming here for as long as I can remember. Over the years things have changed, which I totally get. I came from a family of small town business owners too, tonight me and the kids came in for all you can eat and was informed they don't do it anymore, okay fine. Bummer but we'll survive. We ordered a large pepperoni and my hands down favorite pizza ever, the pesto Californian (when I moved away for a few years it was the first thing I got when I was visiting). It took over 45 minutes to get our pizzas, the place was not busy. Maybe 3 tables with people and about 10 employees. Okay fine, for hungry kids at this point. But we finally do get the pizzas. The pesto had NO pesto flavor, nothing like it's been before and I had to pick off EVERY single piece of chicken. It was hard and rubbery, really really dark in color, really awful. The pepperoni was just okay. And we don't use ranch, but charging .75 for a thing of ranch when you're spending $40 on a pizza is kind of ridiculous. my cousin had been raving about this pizza for a couple of weeks, and i thought she was hyping it up. but she wasn't, it is sooooo good. the crust was perfect, the toppings were perfect, it was just delicious. the only thing is that we waited what seemed like forever to get it and the service is horrible. they are not friendly at all, and they didn't give us one smile. oh, and it's also expensive. $16.50 for a large and no specials. but i can't wait until i go to Angels Camp again so i could have it every day, bad service and all!!! read more

The Pesto Chicken pizza was sooo good. We happened to pass by here looking for a good place to eat. After a long drive up to the area, it tasted so good. Definitely, worth looking for again after driving around to see if there was a better choice for dinner. The mozarella sticks were very good too. read more

We had been staying in Angels Camp for a week, and saw the rave reviews of the pizza at this place so we HAD to see what Mike's was all about. I can say without reservation, this was an awesome experience. The pizza was one of the best I have had in a long time, and the wings were cooked to perfection! The service was great and my only disappointment is that I will have to wait until next year to visit there again. If you love pizza like I do, this IS the place for you. read more

Thank you yelpers. This is s great pizza shop. Nice little time capsule as far as decor but clean. So, who cares, show me the food. Good salad bar, soda fountains (got to have the refills) and the pizza. Long day of hiking, so 2 large pizzas, bread, salad and soda. There wasn't much left. Food so good ate even though I was full. Perfect! Sauce, crust, toppings, all of it! Even tried the cheese raviolis, they were delish! Had it delivered, girls were great!

Stopped in for a sandwich that someone had recommended but decided on the pork ribs and a salad- However, the menu had some a lot really good looking sandwiches and also a huge pizza selection! The salad bar was immaculate, and had a large variety of items-, it was a little bit of a wait, but wow, when my meal came!!! The pork ribs were some of the best I have ever had, and I have been up and down the West Coast for 25 years! Slow smoked, fall off the bone, and the sauce was awesome as well!! Came with a large amount of breadsticks too!! I'm definitely going back, and i Live 40 miles away!! Great place with plenty of seating and a friendly staff. The Hawaiian pizza with pulled pork was absolutely delicious. Make sure to get a side of Ranch, you will not be disappointed. Went there the other night ordered to go. We ordered pulled pork pizza, tasted fine but was wondering where the meat was and it also seemed to take a long time to get. My main objection was as I was waiting I watched a kid wash his hands then pull up the seat of his jeans then touch food...big no no in my opinion. We ordered delivery and was told 45min. to 1 hr delivery time. It ended up being 1 hr 40 min. When delivery guy got there he apologized and said the other driver called in. That sucks since it was Labor Day weekend. I appreciated the apology at least. Pizza was really tasty sauce had a nice flavor to it. We ordered the combination with no ground beef. I would have given them 4- 4 1/2 stars at least for yummy pizza but it wasn't hot when delivered and delivery time was crazy long. We ordered salads as well and had lots of yummy toppings like mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumber, mini corns, and broccoli. read more

Mike's pizza is awesome pizza!! I'm going to say it's the best pizza I have had since the Mountain Mikes up in Arnold closed down years ago. If you are wanting pizza and a good salad bar in Calaveras County, go there. I find the prices to be SUPER high for their pizza. Can't go there too often because of the cost. If it wasn't as good as it is, I wouldn't be going there ever again. It's also nice to go and eat in. I'm a fan of the pizza parlors that were around back in the day that you just don't find very often. It's dark and there's lots of games for the kids. I definetly reccoment the 'Greek Goddess' or any other pizza. the crust is a perfect thickness and the sauce is great!! read more

Took the family here for a late lunch after a morning of snow play - typical pizza place atmosphere with games and such to keep the kids amused. We had pizza - while I would put it on the pricier side for pizza, it was delicious. Fresh veggies; sauce was excellent; crust was nice a doughy. Great pizza place! We ordered a giant meat and it is huge! The pizza is not too greasy, has a good crust, and was even better the second day (we ended up taking about half of it with us). I yelped Mike's before coming out and almost didn't come because of one review saying they closed earlier than their posted hours and it was close to 9:30 at the time, but I didn't have a problem at all! The delivery service is a complete joke. The delivery person called me four times in twenty minutes and even after explicit and EXTREMELY simple directions could not find my house. I am in an established neighborhood, not at all hard to find. During the final call, he actually insisted he was at my address with the pizza! I assured him he certainly was not. After nearly an hour of his phone calls I finally told him to take the pizza back to Mikes. They must not have a very good applicant pool for the delivery job. read more

We live in Valley Springs and travel to Mike's Pizza whenever we want pizza as it is the best pizza in the county, We look forward to going to Mike's every time we go to Angels Camp. It is worth the drive. read more

Holy cow...I don't even know where to begin. It's is the best pizza I have had in a long time. Went last October and was not disappointed. Meatball on the pizza is a must...I was expecting meatball slices like most places, but the was a hunking, tasty meatball. Will definitely et here again next time we stop through. read more

Several weeks ago we were in town from the bay area with friends and took them to Mikes. They were hooked immediately and we all stuffed ourselves and then some. Funny how they weren't excited to share after all! We also got to see Bunny again. She is so nice and fun to talk with and always has a smile and a positive attitude. We ate here in July and fell in love with the Jalapeno Popper pizza....when revisiting this Saturday.....the service was horrendous. We waited through 2 phone calls to place our order....we went to the salad bar and No lettuce....I asked the older lady who was helping a man who came in after us and she said "just a minute" then proceeded to converse personal business with this man and then proceeded to walk over to her "family" table, introduce him, talk personal business and then talk more with them when he left. My husband was irritated (low blood sugar) and tossed his bowl on the salad bar...my sister sat at the table with her oxygen waiting for hers...finally a guy in the back came, opened a big bag in front of me, dumped it in the bowl and said" here, this outta do it for you". I "calmly" made three salads and carried them to my table. When our pizza was ready the guy brought it over and "threw" it on our pedestal and it almost went over. I went to get a to go box and the older lady brought me a box half made and left me fumbling at the counter with my pizza. VERY RUDE, we will never go back. read more
