I've been living on the west coast for 8 years and I'm on vacation back home in Boston and mikes was a must before I get back on a plane. It's just as good as the day I left. I've read the negative comments about this place and I can't imagine having a bad experience here. The roast beef is always on the rare side and it's delicious. The onion rings are the best anywhere, the chicken fingers are bomb and all the fried plates are the best. This place is a jem, I love it. My so cal gf can't get over how good it is also. I got an amazing Super Beef with mayo, BBQ sauce, and cheese for $7.40. It was juicy and super flavorful. One of the better roast beef sandwiches that I've had. It was ready for me in under 5 minutes and the workers here were friendly. My friend got some fries and those too were above average. It's a pretty small spot with 14 chairs. I used to come here on my lunch in high school. It was nice to have a car and time, and people willing to go. This place is awesome! The people who work there are really nice, they have a huge variety of food. Great subs, tasty fries, and tons of appetizers that are big enough to be a meal. We were out from California via train and ended up there because of a lodging snafu in Saugus while we were working out the details for a new place to stay the night. We saw many locals getting food there and they all seemed very satisfied with the food. I had a great pastrami sandwich and the onion rings were wonderful! My BF enjoyed his sandwich as well. The best Super Beef going. Meat is extremely tender, melts in your mouth! They put an abundance of roast beef on onion roll. If you like sauce, they use James River(s). Delicious. Not too hot but just right. I'm craving one now. You can't beat it!!! Try it, I bet you'll be hooked. read more

***Warning*** Everytime I've eaten the roast beef at Mike's I got sick to my stomach. My daughter too. Not sure what their doing wrong but it seems like it's too rare and it's sitting out festering bacteria. Again - I've experienced another round of being seat belted in to my toilet this morning. Not going back here ever again for roast beef. Their seafood plates are decent though. Just stay clear of the roast beef. I see other reviews on here talking about the same issue. read more

Love this place so much, that the one time I ordered a Chicken Kabob Salad somewhere else, I still went out to get a Chicken Kabob Salad from here the same night because the salad I got somewhere else was sooo bad!!! Mike's place is awesome! I definitely recommend the onion rings and chicken kebab salad. The onion rings are really thin pieces with a crispy batter and they are fried right before you get them. Their house dressing is similar to creamy italian, but really really flavorful and delicious. There are so many chain restaurants around, but it is nice to support the local businesses! read more

Grew up in Lynn and have tried them all over the years. Our new favorite, hands down, is Mike's Place on the Lynn Saugus line. Best RB in greater Boston area! Certainly best on NS. And there is plenty of competition-but Mikes comes out on top! Worth the trip. Meat is cooked perfect and prices competitive. I grew up I nearby Lynn and live out of state with NO RB shops anywhere so we always stop by when visiting. read more

Mike's isn't on a level with Billy's or Liberty Bell, but it's in the second tier. A few good items. The onion rings and fries are top notch, as is their cole slaw. The fried seafood is good BUT...it doesn't travel well so eat it there or in the car, and the portions are small and expensive (you get more in a small order at Farnam's than Mike's large). The chicken kabob salad is large and full of chicken. The roast beef tends to be very rare, so ask them to throw it on the grill for a minute if you like it not so red. The rolls are basic, nothing special. Oddly, they charge extra for lettuce and tomato! They've changed hands and the new people are not as friendly or pleasant as the old ones were. In fact, they can be downright rude at times. This isn't the New Deal or Katz's, where the great food outweighs the attitude. If you 're close by, and pick and choose your items, it's ok. With several much better options literally down the road, come here for convenience, not quality. read more

I've became a fan recently within the year and I'm glad I was introduced to this place! My favorites from here would have to be their steak & cheese! I get it as extra, extra cheese w/mayo, hots, tomatoes and onions! Amazing! My #1 favorite thing to order is their broccoli chicken ziti! Their version is to die for! It's basically the only dish I get and I get it almost once a week! I get it as extra sauce/oil, extra veggies and extra cheese! No words! Plus their service is not only fast, their food is always great and they are always super nice! We don't even have to know each other names, they just know who I am every time I come to pick up! I will try more of their dishes if I can pry for my favorites for once! I highly recommend this great place! Also, I'm a queen of tarter sauce NO ONE has made it as good as Kelly's but wow, they pretty much nailed it with their own personal taste to it! I recommend that as well!
