Came to Mike's Smog Check based on excellent Yelp reviews. Their 5-star rating is correct. I called the day before to make an appointment; receptionist picked up my phone immediately and sounded super friendly; she asked for my car year and model, which made in 2018 and is small compact car. Next day, I drove to this place; kinda sketchy area with a bunch of junkyards, tow yards, and homeless people (I wouldn't want to be here at night). I spent total $62.00 for a SMOG check; this place is STAR certified, but I didn't need it to be STAR, so I assume a STAR smog check would've costed me more. They accept credit card and cash. Their land needs to be repaved because you drive on light gravel and dirt. So when I walked into their tiny building (like 300 square foot), there are two 2-person couches; there was already one person ahead of me. I saw a picture on wall with a picture of 'Highest Rated on Yelp" for SMOG check, lol. Receptionist wasn't there because she also moves the cars: I waited 3 minutes for receptionist to come in. I handed her my DMV paper that stated that I needed a SMOG check in order to renew my car registration. Receptionist gave me a paper to fill out that showed the total cost and estimated a 15 minute wait time. After 15 minutes, receptionist said I passed, and then I paid my $62 and was out of there. She said that the SMOG results are electronically sent to DMV; there is a bar code on you DMV car registration that allows the SMOG shop to electronically upload info to DMV. My car driver seat was left in the same position (which I loved, because my dealership always adjusts my seat after routine maintenance). I recommend this place to anyone: quick and easy. read more

Customer service is by far the best around for a locally owned business. I called the first location on Indio Blvd, they couldn't get in until the afternoon. The kind voice on the line said I could go to the new location by Indio High School. I was there maybe 10 minutes, not only was the waiting area impeccably clean and cold, Ferris Bueller's Day Off was playing on the TV. What more do you need to know? I needed to get a smog on my 1995 F350 and Mikes was open, polite and no BS. They even gave me a bottle of water. Highly recommend them. And their price was great. This should be your first stop. Many other shops were either closed or had broken equipment or wouldn't do an older than 2000. read more

I had another place fail me twice over a visual imperfection when everything else passed. It was obvious everything was stock but he suggested I buy a new cat (over $2k). Mikes Smog Check is the best place to go to in the Coachella Valley. I had tried to go a couple of the smog shops in Coachella prior to making the longer drive to Indio. Unfortunately all the places I went were rude and I ended up leaving right away! If there's one thing I hate it's bad customer service. Anyway, I had gone to Coachella Smog Shop prior and actually did the smog check but my car didn't pass. All they told me to do was to drive 200 miles or do 15 start up's but treated me like an idiot as if I didn't know what a start up was. I called Mikes Smog Check & it was $10 more than the shops in Coachella , but again Coachella Shops are RUDE and I could tell Mike's was not. I came in frustrated because I was worried that my car wouldn't pass and the registration was due soon. Fortunately , Adrian really helped me out & told me that I had a permanent code on my car and what I had to was drive 200 miles and have 15 start ups without the check engine light turning on. He also let me know to head over to the DMV as soon as possible and ask for an extension and to bring the car back. So that's exactly what I did & my car passed today ! Also, very very thankful to the lady inside , she is very sweet & friendly. I will definitely come back & recommend Mike's Smog Shop to anyone looking for a place to take their car! they do not check if your cad converter number matches their list to your car, first they run their test! every thing look good BUT then the check your cad number. if the cad number is wrong but the car test passes you still ; fail ! pay the man! ninety big ones no 2nd test crawl under your car a write down your cad number ask them first if your cad converter is the right one matched to your car read more
