I came here during lunch. The restaurant was very quiet with no other customers were having lunch here. We went here twice in the 3 days we were visiting! I am SO excited about their Naruto rolls-which use cucumber ribbon as the wrapper and no rice. Generous pieces of fish! One of the best miso soups my son and I have ever had. Wonderful prices. Very attentive and patient waitress. We had an awesome meal on a Saturday night that really surpassed all of our expectations. I called ahead to ask if we could come in about 30 minutes. Sure, the nice woman said. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived and slowly filled almost completely. We ordered hot saki for two, a beer, and a lychee martini. Very good quality saki and my wife asked if they could tone down the sweetness of the martini which they did. For our little one they prepared some steamed broccoli and very delicious vegetable fried rice. To our surprise, she ate all of the green stuff and 90% of the rice. Impressive indeed. I ordered a soup to warm my bones and then we added some sashimi and the Japanese spring rolls. The spring rolls had a nice flaky crust that reminded me of a croissant and the flavor was very good. In the sashimi department, we had Uni from Japan (they offered two different types), red crab, scallops and some yellowtail. The freshness was very noticeable and we really enjoyed all. Mrs. me ordered the Toro Tacos and she raved about them- so much so, I had to have a bite and I agreed. I also order the rock shrimp tempura and thought the flavor was among the best I've had. The presentation and taste of the crazy toro roll was amazing. one of our favorites of the evening. Modern looking inside, The space does have one larger booth in the front of the restaurant that seems to fit at least eight people, while the last of the space has about a dozen tables that could each sit four. Along the right hand side as you enter and pass the hostess station, there is a bar with most of the basic liquors to make just about whatever you would want. Price for meal was not shocking for the level of service and the quality of the food. Paired with the clean and modern restaurant, it made for an enjoyable meal. read more

This is local hidden gem always serves the freshest fish. And the rice.. it's always perfectly seasoned and the grains of rice is never mushy and always has a nice bite. I generally get the lunch special. However we decided to get the valentine day special for $99. The hamachi collar was grilled to perfection. This sushi blew me away. I love finding a new sushi spot to try. The rock shrimp tempura was just okay, you did get a lot of pieces. The BBQ said roll was my fave. I never had anything like it before. It's a whole piece of bbq squid essentially stuffed with crabmeat and fully covered in their special sauce. The fantastic and big kahuna were also really good. Not sure why this place is always empty when we pick up during weekend dinner time. The sushi is fresh and the rice to fish ratio is perfect. The quality of the fish are not the typical tuna and salmon alone and they include other unique pieces that are wonderful. The staff is friendly and if you order online it's 10% off. I normally get the sushi sashimi for 2 and other pieces. Unlike other places (I used to favor Kotobuki), KinBen includes quite a bit of toro pieces in their sushi sashimi entree. The fish was great, I enjoyed my meal and so did my family. My one complaint is, I ordered the sushi and sashimi for 1. Priced at $35 it comes with 12 pieces of sashimi, 5 pieces of sushi and a salmon roll. What was placed in front of me was 12 pieces of sashimi, 5 pieces of sushi and a California roll. I called the waitress over and said "isn't this supposed to come with a salmon roll" and she said it was a "choice". Mind you, when I ordered I was not asked if I wanted a salmon or California roll. They changed the roll out hoping I wouldn't notice I'm sure, but I did. Will I be coming back? Probably not. read more

They opened for 3 months ago (new owners in the sushi restaurant). Everyone greeted us and was super friendly. My husband had special requests as he does not like certain fish and they were so accommodating. $75 for omakase, absolute gem. My only recommendation is to torch some toro and wagyu pieces right before serving. My wagyu was slightly drier/cold as if it was prepared some time ago, other than that, every piece was fresh and flavorful. I am soooo glad we did, this is absolutely what I have been looking for on Long Island. This place offers fish imported from Japan etc and the quality is just phenomenal.
