Great little ramen shop in Monterey Park. It's the broth that really sets this place apart - rich, complex, and full of flavor. Ramen noodles were cooked just to the right level of chewiness. Well seasoned egg and charsiu. The geso age (fried squid legs) were also delicious. Friendly and cheerful service with Japanese gastropub decor.
Decent chill location with a little bit of outside seating and plenty of parking. That being said, the ramen broth was a tad too salty for my liking, and perhaps they overseasoned this batch. But this is the spot for a quick grab if you're not picky on ramen.
I've been coming to daikokuya since I was a teenager, I'm 27 now and this spot remains my favorite. I've been able to see their expansion from LA out to 626 and I'm glad they've gotten closer. Best spicy miso ramen around, and I've been to a bunch of spots all over LA and OC. Never had an issue with service, and even though their restaurants are a little tight, the food makes it worth
I was surprised by how limited the ramen menu was for a chain so popular. Ended up going with the Daikoku -- was very bland and didn't have much going for it. The wait was 50 minutes as no one was leaving as well, service was ok. Inside was okay. Definitely need new menus as the old ones were very frayed. Total was $78ish for 3 bowls of ramen and the sausage which was ok. Good late night spot if there's nothing else.
Just as delicious as the one in Little Tokyo. Bigger dining area had us getting seated right away. Ordered their spicy ramen and it was so delicious, and rich with the perfect amount of heat. Service was great as well.
12/23/2025 Daikokuya 111 N Atlantic Blvd Ste 241 Monterey Park, CA 91754 We went there for dinner about 5:30 on a Wednesday. It's in a retail complex at the corner of Atlantic and Garvey with entrances to the ample parking lot surrounding the building from both. There was a 20 minute wait list when we got there and got longer as we waited to be called in. The cozy interior consists of a small counter and 5 small tables. After being tabled, my sister ordered the house Tsukemen, Wifey ordered the spicy house Ramen and I had the Katsu Curry bowl. Our food was brought to us shortly. My order also included Miso soup and Slaw, which were pretty standard. My Curry consisted of a large quantity of rice with Curry sauce, pickles and the Katsu which was disappointing. Although the Curry was flavorful with nice spice the thick Katsu slices were dry and chewy with gristle. This was not your standard pounded tenderloin but some kind of chop that was sliced. The gals thought their noodles were great but my Katsu was not good. Service was good. I'd go back for the Ramen but avoid the Katsu Curry bowl.

The Ramen is nice and salty, perfect to combo with a great drink. The beef bowl is a great portion and better than most places. The only criticism is the accompanying miso soup is a salt bomb and needs to be diluted. Overall will be back again.
Was searching for a late night ramen spot after a night out and found this place. Our directions took us to the other side of the shopping plaza that frankly felt a bit eery as there were not really any other shops. We eventually went around and found the shop on the other side of plaza. We got seated right away and immediately were offered drinks, which was nice. I ended up ordering the Spicy Miso Ramen. I did ask to clarify the toppings in the ramen cause I usually get some additional and the server just told me it's what's in the picture, which felt like they didn't want to answer me. But I did get additional bamboo shoots and dried Seaweed. We also got chicken karaage on the side, which was pretty good. My brother got the Chicken Karaage Egg Bowl Combo which was very flavorful and delicious. Overall, the food was good but felt nothing really wowed me.

The beef bowl was pretty bland, and the gyoza were also a little soggy and bland. We liked the ambiance in the restaurant but one of our servers gave us the wrong gyoza. She sat them down and said "they were regular right?" I said yes because I misunderstood her. Later she got a bit of an attitude because we corrected ourselves that they were vegetable gyoza. How am I supposed to know what "regular" means? I don't work here. To me veggies gyoza ARE "regular" since they aren't listed as vegetarian on the menu. I'm not sure how you lose track of who ordered what when there's very few tables in the restaurant, but we both didn't appreciate her snappiness at us. The other servers were okay and held the door open for us as we left.
A spot that just never misses. This venue is small, cozy, & gives you the umami taste. There are many options to choose from such as the Daikokuya ramen, spicy , vegan ramen, rice bowls, bento sets & much more. The staff are friendly & always open to questions in regard to options. Parking is always available , just tread lightly with the squeaky pavement. My go to is the combo of spicy Daikokuya ramen with fried rice. It also comes with a side of side salad. The dumplings are also a must try as there packed with pork & chives. A perfect spot for a rainy day or when you want a comfy meal.

9/1/25 Monday (Holiday) Ordered thru Grubhub because they had a BOGO deal. We did pick up. The order was ready before the pick up time. Rating it one star down because of how skimpy they were with the soup (see photos). The rest of the ramen was alright. I'd say the meat could be improved (a little dry). Also, we recommend getting the extra fat if you like a creamier broth. I always like asking for crushed garlic (complimentary) to mix into my broth too. Despite being a holiday, they weren't too busy when we arrived. They have seating inside and out. I recall back then they were a lot busier. I also think their ramen tasted better back in the day. Fresher. Parking was plentiful. Not a huge lot but still easy to find spots. They put a tamper seal for safety for their pick up orders too.

Came in hungry and ordered the Daikokuya ramen and Katsu curry rice bowl. The tonkitsu ramen was delicious good, it was traditional but also felt lighter on the umami flavor that could have been more condensed in flavor The curry rice was also delicious. Small and cute ramen shop that's open late. If there's still people lining up after 10 pm, you know the place is good! Parking was readily available since they gave a sizable parking lot. The restaurant itself had a few tables and counter seating. Ordering with the server was easy. Staff was quick and efficient with bringing out the freshly prepared food. Tsukemen had a concentrated dashi taste. The noodles held their chewy texture even after dipping. The egg was perfectly done. Daikoku Ramen has a meatier broth. I went after my shift in the hospital, looking forward to a cozy warm bowl of ramen. Daikokuya was one of the only ramen spots open relatively late. It didn't disappoint. The staff was very friendly, attentative, and took my order quickly on a busy Friday night. Parking was easy. Tonkotsu Ramen, 8/10: Solid tonkotsu broth. It was rich, porky, and fatty. The noodles they used I wasn't the biggest fan of, as I prefer the thinner firmer noodles. I appreciated the variety of toppings they added. The green onions and bamboo added a nice fresh touch that the dish needed. Safe to say, the ramen hit the spot. Though, it was missing a little depth that would have put the rating higher. read more

5/27/2025 CHASHU PORK BOWL (Take-Out) This was a take-out order for Chashu Pork Bowl. Ordered in person and everything took about 10 minutes. This came with sides of white cabbage salad, dressing and a small miso soup. This was reheated at home in a frying pan with a little bit of avocado oil. Everything was delicious! It tasted like I was eating at the restaurant. Generous portions of chashu too! Loved the red ginger in it! Miso soup reheats well too, salad was fresh, dressing was good too. Reminded me of a less creamier Thousand Island dressing. Everything was delicious all around. The food was one order, but it was a lot of food for one person! This may have been a 3-4 portions worth. I really like this spot because it's small and intimate. No wait for two on a Sunday evening. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a fun, lively kitchen where you can see the cooks in action. We ordered the Daikoku ramen- deeply savory, rich, and umami-packed with beautifully infused flavors and a comforting, silky broth. Another favorite is the fried rice, which is fragrant and perfectly seasoned. Their paired salad is a delight- fresh and refreshing, balancing the richness of the ramen. The shop is small, but we went around 9pm on a friday night so it wasn't too packed. Thankful that they're open until midnight because we were looking for dinner after shopping. They have the ramen + small bowl of rice combination and it's worth it. Me and my boyfriend ordered one of the combination and it was enough for both of us that late at night. I would come back again for the same combination. The daikokuya ramen i felt like was nothing special to the point where i would come back craving for it, but the chicken katsu egg bowl was delicious. Although I did feel like something was still odd about the katsu, just not good at explaining what. Overall experience was still good though. One ding is that they don't keep an eye out on the warm waters for refill. I felt too hungry to ask for refill and half the time our table got overlooked. read more

Very tiny ramen spot located inside a plaza across from 99 Ranch! Not much seating but there is indoor and outdoor seating Service is decent, not very attentive. Ordered the Tonkatsu ramen ($14.50) - 7/10. It was nothing special. The broth was okay, a tad too salty and not much meat. Wayyy too much bean sprouts. Ramen was underwhelming. Wasn't as fresh and chewy as I would like it to be. Takoyaki ($6.50 - 5 piece) was pretty good. Very crispy and fresh. It could be better if the piece of octopus was bigger! This is probably my last time going back to this location at least. IMO, the quality of service and food has changed a lot since I had been there few years back. We were excited to go back but it was definitely disappointing. We ordered a takoyaki and one of them is cracked open and the outer shell is hard. We kindly asked the staff if we could possibly change it to a new batch but they told us that it was the last batch (see picture) and they can't make a new batch. They did offer to cancel the order but come on...it was only like 6 pm and the place closes at 12am lol and that's one of our favorite dish and seriously, you guys can't make a new batch? Also, one of the staff kinda gave us an attitude with her eyes with a mask on when we asked for a different bowl because the one on the table looks dirty. Last but not least, not like I care this a lot but they don't greet people in Japanese to customers, at least for us, when we walked in like it used to be. It does make a difference. I really hope they will improve their services. read more

The shop is super small, there are a few indoor seating and some outdoor seating. I stopped by on a Saturday with friends. We arrived around 1pm, but around 2pm it got super busy. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, and I'm not quite sure how I felt about it. The noodles itself was pretty good. The noodles was a bit firm and had a nice chew to it. I wasn't sure I liked the actual broth for it, though. It just tasted a bit off to me. I've had spicy miso broths before, and I've always liked them or decently enjoyed them. This time, it jsut felt like it had a slightly odd flavor to it, and I can't put my finger on it. The egg that came with the ramen also tasted a bit off. I would also like to note that the egg I got was like was missing a lot of the whites...I didn't take a picture as I already started eating it, but it didn't look like a full egg. My friend whom I went with didn't even eat the full egg that came with their ramen. They told me that their egg tasted a bit sour, like it was going bad but not quite, and they ended up spitting it out. I also agreed with them that the egg tasted a bit sour, and just didn't taste right. My friend whom I went with comes pretty often, so they told me it wasn't normal and that usually it is pretty good. So I'm thinking it might be a one-off thing, but not sure I'll stop by again unless invited. read more
I was craving for something soupy for lunch so we stopped by Daikokuya. They usually have a long line out the door but it was surprisingly empty when we arrived around 11:15 AM. It's a really small restaurant with a few tables and some seating at the counter. We got seated at a table and it was pretty cramped and you can hear everyone's conversation around you. Service: Food took a while to come out. They also messed up on one of our orders but were super apologetic and immediately worked on correcting. We ordered a chashu pork bowl but they gave us a beef bowl instead. But other than this small mishap, they were very attentive and friendly. Food: We ordered a combination, so we got the ramen and the rice bowl. It came with a small side salad that I thought was a little too salty. We also ordered a tuna roll. Everything was delicious. The ramen was very rich and flavorful. Overall a pretty solid ramen spot that I would return to, but only if they don't have a line. read more
Daikokuya has been my spot since college. Back then, it was my go-to hangover cure--a bowl of heavy, rich ramen paired with a solid Japanese rice don. The kind of meal that brings you back to life. The moment you step inside, the aroma hits you. Deep, intense, unmistakable. The flavors lean heavy, the portions are generous, but the quality never slips. I've seen them expand across L.A., but they've managed to hold on to their culture and service. It still feels like the same place I knew years ago. Solid OG ramen spot Monterey Park. My co-worker and I were looking for a quick ramen fix during our lunch break and we landed on Daikokuya. The shop itself is small in a no fuss or frills kind of way, and their menu is fairly standard. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, extra spicy. The noodles were cooked perfectly while the broth was rich and flavorful, and really packed a punch. Wanted a quick fix for dinner in the area and we landed at Daikokuya. This place is a cozy, no frills type of place. Despite it being small inside, I felt pretty comfortable in the restaurant! It's great for hangouts or solo meals. Ramen was good, serving size was absolutely huge and the boiled egg is done just right. Takoyaki was delicious too, didn't get to try the rice as the ramen was very filling but the combinations seem like a great deal! Service was quick, easy, and friendly! They do not take Apple Pay for those that use it! Parking is I think underground? So there should be plenty as it's an empty plaza read more

We arrived here on a Friday night and were able to score a table as we walked in. The place itself is pretty small, but definitely can get busy. I got the daikoku ramen which came out pretty quickly. The broth was thick and flavorful, but a bit too salty for me. The meat was tender and the egg was cooked just right. There was a generous portion of bean sprouts which helped cut out some fatty flavors of the dish. The ramen was al dente which was perfect! read more

Ramen has good flavor, but was way too oily. I asked for no sauce on my takoyaki. They still put sauce on it. There are so many better Ramen places in the area I would rather eat slurping Ramen or Silverlake Ramen for sure. read more
*Review is based on pickup via order from food app* Upon arrival, there was still plenty of parking at around 5:30 pm on a weekday. After heading inside, I asked the staff about the order and they advised they would need a few more minutes. After 2-3 minutes, I got my order. Service was friendly and straightforward. I ordered a Spicy Miso Ramen. The containers they used for the broth was great, as it retain the heat well. The broth was decently spicy and salty. Along with the noodles, there was also chashu,bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, boiled egg, and green onions. The chashu was good and tender. The restaurant was built in a really cute Japanese style with lanterns and soft wooden colors. The service was very fast and the rice came with miso soup and Japanese slaw. The food was really delicious and the portions had just enough so that you were satisfied. I especially love reordering the noodles. read more

There's outdoor seating. Today, I saw 3 tables, each capable of seating 4 people. It was not heated, but it is somewhat covered by the second floor.
Do you still do reservation or not anymore?
Not anymore. Sometimes there's a waiting list but that's it.
What are the gluten-free noodles that they use?
Do they take To-go order? One of the staff told me they do NOT, but I highly doubt it.
They do now. Quarantine 2020 has made possible.
Do they still offer the shredded pork bowl?
Yes they do! As a side or a main dish! I get it all the time. It's definitely my favorite thing to get aside from ramen lol
