I have been coming to Mikonos Grill for almost 15 years. The service is always warm and fast. Their kitchen is always humming with activity during the dinner hour. The food is remarkably consistent and very good. I have always enjoyed their lamb and the sauce they put on their chicken skewers is delicious. Another standout is their rice. It is perfectly seasoned and a great compliment to the meat. The restaurant is always clean and bright. Parking is easy, and the restrooms are very clean. Mikonos Grill seemed to be a local diner. I've ordered for delivery from here before but this was the first time dining at the place. It's in a strip mall across the street from a Bank of America. The parking lot is small and narrow in the plaza. The restaurant was quite big inside. Older looking layout with a large printed menu behind the cashier. Dark wooden tables and chairs. The cashier took orders quickly and was friendly. I got the super gyro plate with sides of salad and soup, a fish and chips plate with side of more fries and salad, and an order of 5 pieces of falafel. Every plate order gets a choice of two sides, and asking for a side of fries to go with the fish and chips seemed to have confused the cashier. I ordered more fries to share with the table. In the end it didn't look like the side of fries were added. I didn't bother asking for the side, there was already so much food. The salad was good, the soup was basically another dish, and the falafel were so crunchy crispy. The super gyro was super big. The meat filling was ok because it was on the dry side. Wow! This was the best gyro I have ever eaten! As if that wasn't enough, they went and redefined French fries, Greek fries are INCREDIBLE! I could probably stop there and you would get the picture. This restaurant has been around ever since I was a kid and typically, I would get the Chicken Souvlaki Plate, which is packed with rice, fries, chicken, and comes with pita and tzatziki sauce. This is a good deal in itself. However, I ordered their salmon gyro as it's currently Lent, and for $~16 with tax, it is absolutely packed with salmon. I did not expect the amount of salmon that was loaded on the pita. It was very filling and flavorful and I'd definitely get this again. Only qualms I got with this is that it was pretty hard to eat as the pita was soggy and didn't hold itself. That doesn't really matter though because I still ate it up. Had dinner last night again at Mykonos grill less chicken now I've noticed or smaller portions. Everything else is pretty consistent however, I noticed that they charge an admin fee on my check at 4% in addition to for taxes so just to eat my dinner I paid $.71 in admin fee and $1.67 in taxes the main reason I'm not eating out anymore. You're not even just paying for your dinner. You're paying taxes and admin fees. This was a surpise stop while in Milpitas! You walk into the dinning room and instantly see the pictures decorating the walls of Greece. Reminded us of our trip out there. I drove by this place for years. Finally tried it. It's a very casual store w/ high quality food and large portions at that. I tried the chicken souvlaki plate and it was amazing. Mediocre gyro that will hit the spot if you're in the area. Staff is friendly and you can tell by the patrons coming in and greeting the workers. Bathrooms are clean as well as the tables (as far as I can tell). There was someone wiping 'em down when I walked in. Got the beef super gyro plate and opted for Greek fries and salad. I ordered to dine in. Oh lord the gyro was the pita stuffed with meat. Downside: the toppings and tzatziki sauce was lacking and the greek fries weren't worth the extra charge because the spices were still raw, so it wasn't pleasant eating a grainy mixture of whatever they season it with. I didn't touch 'em after the first couple of fries. Salad dressing was begging for seasoning and it was very oily. I used the tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta to eat with the gyro since it was lacking. Didn't touch the lettuce because that's what was seeping all the oil. I asked for more tzatziki, it costs $2.50 for a container that doesn't look like the price is justified, especially when you see someone sitting next to you who has it slathered onto their meal. Boo. They didn't offer any spicy sauce, but I saw togo containers of it at the register where the food is picked up. While paying for the extra tzatziki I asked if I could have one and they said yes. Sauce was not Mediterranean style and tasted like in between of Mediterranean and a taqueria style hot sauce. The consistency was very watery, but the flavor was there.
