SLICE OF HEAVEN ? This traditional pizzeria in Tamarac at the corner of the Casa Linda Plaza has been on my radar for a few weeks and wanted to try a slice. Arrived near opening time to assure a fresh slice of pizza. Paid only $3.00 and requested a well-done slice of heaven. Well, the experience was far from heaven as you will soon understand. The baker slid the cheese pizza in the oven and expected a tasty slice based on the scent emanating from the small kitchen. As a pizza enthusiast, I understood that a slice from a fresh cooked pizza would take at least ten minutes which was accounted for and a time disclaimer was voiced by the cashier/server. At around the fifteen minute mark the slice was at my table in a togo box which I requested since I was unsure where I was going to devour it. Excitedly opened the box and immediately noticed that the slice was not even close to well-done and the heavy cheese was a pile of goo on both sides dripping onto the wax paper. As I tried to lift the slice from the cornicione, half the slice was cemented down on the wax paper by an anchor of cheese. The upcoming unexpected part was comical. Presented the slice to the baker and for at least a minute, he made every diligent attempt to removed the slice from the wax paper with a spatula and seemed aggravated or maybe just pure exhaustion. Unfortunately, no video of this task exists, but I literally stood there in awe watching this while simultaneously laughing inside and confused. The baker was defeated and in angst threw the slice into the garbage and cooked a new one. Now closing in on twenty minutes, the baker displayed the slice which was still not well-done. Not sure if I was just a bothersome customer at this point and I would have gladly taken a refund and left. The baker was destined to get this right or maybe a personal goal at this point. He placed the slice back into the overworked oven and within another five minutes the slice was cooked well-done to perfection. Not exaggerating, it took twenty-five minutes to have my slice and only two minutes to scoff it down. Aside from the baking fiasco, the cornicione was crispy and the dark char on cheese was beautiful floating over a light tangy sauce base (I prefer heavier garlic) So actually the taste was far from the issue during my strange and rare experience at a pizzeria. The Wednesday large cheese pizza special for $12.99 as takeout or delivery is the best rate that I have encountered. The gender assigned bathroom was clean and had large bone colored porcelain tile flooring with basic appliances. This is a family owned restaurant located in a strip plaza set back off of Commercial Blvd & Pine Island Rd. When we walked in, we were told by staff that he would be right with us because he was taking care of a take out customer. He ended up being our server and was very friendly. We ordered Fried Calamari, Garlic Bread, Meatball Parm Sub & Cheese Pizza with light cheese. Everything that came out to us was steaming hot! The Fried Calamari was lightly breaded and so good. The Garlic Bread was light and crispy and VERY garlicky. Yum! They were VERY good! My husband had been craving meatballs and this satisfied his craving. My husband has been watching this pizza place on IG (I think it's in New York) where you can pick the pizza slice up with one hand and it doesn't collapse. This is that kind of pizza. I saw the Sun Dried Tomato on the menu but didn't order it. I wish I did because I heard that it was imported from Italy and excellent. Everything was so delicious! I'm glad we came here. read more

So far the best tasting pizza around. Thin crust and well baked with topping or not. We like coming here for the pizza but have also had their dinners and found them to be tasty. There is little ambiance and that is too bad, because the food is very good. We would enjoy it more if there were some more decor available. read more

This family owned restaurant had authentic Italian food. I had the eggplant rollatini and my mom had the eggplant Parmesan. I love that it wasn't greasy nor did it have the skin of the eggplant which can feel chewy. My daughters had the lasagne and angel hair and all the dishes had fresh ingredients. Everything was flavorful and our server was very attentive and courteous. I didn't try the pizza but it seems like a popular take out place for it. We will be back! read more

Well, I thought I found a secret however, it turned out to be a nightmare. I start off with a slice of pizza that must've been made it lunchtime. It was old and horrible. Then I proceeded to have a salad. They said they have greens so I said I need Romain because I'm allergic to some greens. They gave me an up charge. that was not good. The lettuce was horrible. Very good foods. We had chicken francesa and chicken marsala, meatballs and calamari. Everything was very good, the calamari was a bit rubbery. The server was friendly and nice. It's a very casual restaurant but the food was way beyond casual. I wouldn't be surprised if their chef was classically trained. Had a good lunch here today. But after reading some of the reviews, I was hesitant to eat here. I'd asked my girlfriend to choose our meeting spot -- I can't always choose the restaurant we go to... and this was her selection. I'd never been on this street before, or this part of Tamarac, even, but GPS guided me right here. There's a Jamaican restaurant next door too. The small restaurant turned out to be a nice, neighborhood Italian place. And it was perfect for meeting a friend. We were able to dine leisurely and chat. It got a bit busier but noise was never a problem. I ordered one of their lunch specials -- all reasonably priced. Each entree came with soup or salad. I opted for salad -- a mix of greens with cherry tomatoes and onions. For my entree I chose their chicken piccata which was white meat chicken breast in a lemon sauce with capers and artichoke hearts. A touch of added salt was all it needed. It came with spaghetti with the same sauce and a piece of broccoli. My girlfriend got a large salad from the regular part of the menu. It looked gorgeous. In addition to shrimp, it had green olives, onions, pepperoncinis, sliced tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, roasted red pepper, and buffalo mozzarella cheese over a bed of lettuce. She loved it with some balsamic dressing. Service was friendly and accommodating. Prices were inexpensive and portions were large. read more

I had an appointment at the VA Outpatient Clinic on way out West Commercial Blvd for a blood draw. Having not eaten since 4:00 the day before, I relied on the "Vampires of the VA" to recommend a lunch location. They recommended Milano's, a restaurant that does a bunch of deliveries to the VA staff. With plenty of corporate restaurants within a mile of the VA OPC, I just had to try them out. A block north of Commercial on NW 88th Ave, Milano's is located at the west end of a non-descript strip mall. The interior a dated and plain yet very clean. The menu was a paper throw-away full of wonderful dishes. So many, I was a bit torn for selecting. I went with the a bowl of Pastafagoli folllwed by a Chicken Marsala that was the best I've ever had. Finally, you can judge a restaurant by their bolonese and pasta. Like the Marsala, the bolonese was a thick and richly tasty delight. $26.32 including iced tea and cheesy garlic toast. I have been ordering from this place regularly at lunch from my office - it's a safe go to for delivery even before covid. Now they have uber eats and door dash and their own delivery. I love the Milano salad with fresh mozzarella and shrimp. And they have excellent lunch specials. So reasonable - I usually order an extra meal for home. Eggplant parm with salad and pasta and garlic bread. Mmmmm. So good...my coworker tried the fettuccine Alfredo and thought it wasn't so good but not sure of her tastes. If the entrees didnt take an hour, I'd give 5 stars. The bruschetta was SO delicious, fresh, and the bread was so perfectly cooked. The Pizza sauce tasted like a little too much wine. Just my opinion. The chicken francese was scrumptious. Service was very slow... and when we mentioned how long we waited for food, the servers made us feel somewhat uncomfortable like we were being unreasonable. I understand everything is cooked to order but unless you have to thaw the food, it shouldn't take an hour when we were one of the only two tables. I'll probably be back because the food was fantastic but they are lacking in service & timing. read more

Rude people and the worst customer service! Horrible experience!! Ordered food and it took awhile for it to be delivered. We called to check on delivery and was told they left already. Once we received it it was cold. I called back to see how long it took from the time they left to the time they delivered. They did not know and put me on hold. Then a man got on the phone and I told him the pizza was cold. He first offered to send me a new one and for me to give back the one we received. I said we took a bite and that is how we knew it was cold. He then rudely said there is nothing he could do. He wouldn't/couldn't even give me a credit. I asked why. He said because I bit into. I said this is aweful customer service. He said yeah I know the customer is always right, but I can't do anything this time. I said fine, I will Not order from you again. This is the best part....he said "good don't" and hung up. Great customer service and great community partner. You should be ashamed of yourselves treating customers this way. We called at 11:10am to order 3 pizzas for a staff lunch at noon. . Simple pizzas: one cheese, one pepperoni, and one veggie. We were told they would be delivered by 12:15pm. When the pizza had not arrived at 12:15, we called and we were told the ticket is gone so the pizzas were on their way. At 12:30 when the pizza still has not arrived we called again and we were told. " it should be there any minute". We waited another 15 minutes since the restaurant is only a few blocks from where they were to deliver. We called again and we were put on hold. After being on hold for over 6 minutes, we called again from another telephone at 12:52pm and the phone was answered right away. We told Milanos they needed to cancel the order because the pizzas have not been delivered and the entire staff waited around with no food for their entire lunch. Did they care ? Not one bit. This tells me two things l: 1) they have very poor customer service and 2) they had lied to us the entire time about the pizzas being out for delivery. As a result , They have lost all of our future business and we will never order from them again read more

We recently ate there and were very surprised when my husband ordered an Italian sub and was charged extra for the tomato slices and I ordered spaghetti with garlic and oil and was charged for the garlic and oil. That would be like charging extra for sauce on your spaghetti, who does that. It didn't mention a charge on the menu and I refused to pay for it. The taste was very bland and I left three quarters of it. The interior was not welcoming and the hall leading to the bathrooms was very crowded. Got seated quickly and the place is small but actually nice. These are there only 2 good things I can say about this place. So, brace yourselves Served room temperature garlic bread with onions. I ordered bow tie pasta with chicken. Served on a long shallow plate with the super bland sauce over flowing the plate. why so sloppy??!!! I had to put a shit ton, well basically the whole jar of Parmesan cheese to add flavor. Even though our waiter was nice, he left our table confused and didnt clarify if my dad actually wanted the pizza or not. So basically we waited 45 min for nothing because our waiter didnt know we actually wanted pizza. We brought it up and he out the order in. Pizzas were said to take as long as 30min to make here at a sit down restaurant. Holy crap. To top it off, it was seriously expensive. You can barely find an entree that was less than $15. Wow. I'm more than a fan of this place. When you pull up, don't be afraid if you don't see anyone else there. We were almost scared away by the empty parking lot and even emptier restaurant. The prices are quite reasonable for the large quantity of food you get. You could totally share a meal with two and possibly three. We came with a group of six and everyone was so pleased we decided to stay. All of our dinners were excellent. We will definitely be coming back here if our travels permit. read more

I am a very good customer of Milano's being that I work in the area. I order approximately 3x a week and occasionally order food for my employees, however, this time, we were treated with so much disrespect that it prompted me to write a review. My order was prepared incorrectly (I asked for no mushrooms due to food allergy) and when I called to return it for a refund , i asked if i should bring back the food, they said no, just bring the card to process credit. When my daughter got there, as she was leaving after my refund was processed this lady came from the kitchen screaming asking where is the food... that we were making false complaints to get a refund, I was high insulted since I am a customer and my daughter is allergic. It'as disappointing to have received such service from a restaurant i often frequent and how little regard they have for food allergies and their customers. read more

Okay so despite mixed reviews I tried this place out. So the people who come pained about the garlic bread and lack of rolls I hear ya... I was disappointed that a few lace that is making dough uses a cusanos loafbto make garlic bread however cusanos bread is awesome and it was just like I make at home... Added a lil salt and pepper and boom it was perfect. So then I tried the upside down pizza. It was great. Sauce was perfect and good. The crust was cooked perfect super light but crisp but doughy I can't explain.... It was just perfect. They definitely used decent olive oil you could taste the full flavor. STAY AWAY BY ALL MEANS!!! My family went here for Father's Day dinner today and we all left extremely disappointed. We got to the restaurant at 5:30, which is when our reservation was set for. Our seating didn't accommodate all guest as we had one chair missing. No big deal, easily fixed. As we were being handed our waters, our waitress was already giving us attitude and being rude. When my grandmother who has bad vision asked where her water was , our waitress responded "right in front of your face." However, that water wasn't hers it was for my mother who was next to her. Extremely disrespectful. That same attitude and disrespect continued for the next two hours. Our food came out completely separately, and out of order. The pizzas came out about 30 minutes before the rest of the meals. So 3 of our family members ate while the other 10 watched. Whenever we questioned where the food was we got short and snappy answers like "it's coming" or "I don't make it". Completely unbelievable. As I said, this was a Father's Day dinner. Guess who's food never came out? My grandfathers. He didn't get to eat his meal because it came out with the check. No one who worked there, including the owner, seemed to care. This is a small family-owned Italian red-sauce restaurant-pizzeria in a strip mall. I've been here twice and been pleased both times. The menu is small, including seafood, chicken, veal, pasta, pizza. I had a respectable zuppa di pesci, and the veal dishes were quite good. I eat at Milano's at least once a week. The food is always good. The quality of service varies. Tonight's dining experience was not about the food or service. It was about 2 screaming toddlers and their parents (and Milano's owners) not attempting to curb their behavior. The children acted out for over 30 minutes, while their parents were waiting on a take out order and made no attempt to quiet them. Both owners rolled their eyes and shrugged their shoulders with each outburst but made no attempt to deal with the problem. I would normally not write a review over this, except for 1 thing. I called the owner from my car 10 minutes later. While empathetic he claimed to be powerless in these situations (if he can't set the tone for acceptable behavior in his restaurant ,who does).
