I received engagement ring that was over a hundred years old, I needed it to be sized ( it was a size five and I needed seven and a quarter). I took the ring to three jewelers previous.... Two of them didn't want to do the work in fear of cracking the sapphires on the sides of the diamond. The third quoted me $502, and couldn't guarantee they wouldn't crack the sapphires, (in which I would have to incur the cost.) This guy looked at it for ten seconds, no problem!
