I am not much of a spice person, so I got the "mild" korma (a reliably mild dish in general) and I thought I'd be adventurous and try the butter chicken with "medium" spice, rather than "mild." Surprisingly, the mild dish was much more spicy than the medium one (too spicy for me). Next time I'll know to avoid the korma completely, while that's usually what I get in Indian restaurants because it's known for being so low-spice. This has been our go-to spot for Indian takeout in the past few months. Consistently tasty and satisfying. Is it mind-blowing or unique? Not quite. It's just consistently good and what you'd expect from Indian takeout. We've tried a variety of dishes but our favorites have been the chicken tikka and mutter paneer. You also can't go wrong with the garlic naan. The portions are big so although a little pricier you'll get what you pay for. We always have leftovers. As two people we order two entrees and we've always got a second meal for the next day. The only thing I'd say is that although there's a lot of gravy, we've found that there is often a smaller portion of the protein. So keep that in mind when ordering or deciding whether you want to try out Mild 2 Spicy. read more

Ok so I live in lakeview so not too far from here . Have always seen good reviews about this place and finally ordered food to pickup. We ordered Mixed chicken tikka platter , matar paneer,Malai kofta,butter naan and Mint paratha. Everything was very poorly cooked, the chicken tikka platter was bad (chicken was undercooked). Matar paneer was very watery and had no flavor whatsoever and the malai kofta was just lacking flavor as well. The only good thing was the mint chutney that came with the platter and the pudina paratha. The butter naan was also tasting like the store bought naan. Overall this was a complete letdown and an utter waste of money. Being an Indian from north India I would not feed this food to anyone or recommend this place to anyone read more

Hands down my favorite Indian takeout/ delivery. I've ordered a dozen times , friends and family have been equally impressed. The options for spice levels here are legitimate, you can go mild to extraaaa spicy and they actually nail it. Personally, I love extra spicy and the 'Spicy' level here is on point. We're ordered Chicken Madras and Chicken Tikka Masala- both are great! The saag chicken is also a favorite. All of the vegetarian dishes are great , especially the daal makhani. I got the veggie samosas, chili naan and lamb vindaloo. My only disappointment was the samosas - just not as good as I would expect. My partner got lamb korma mild and had very little spice any one that complains about it being too spicy I don't know. I have ordered from this place so many times through various apps, and it was always reliably good. Today, however, items I've always been able to count on were all quite disappointing. The malai kofta was fine, but lacking the flavor that I remember it having. The butter chicken was a bummer. I ordered medium heat because it usually still has a good amount of kick, but tonight the sauce was sweet, no heat at all. The butter naan was a really big letdown. I always get two orders because it's usually so good I have a hard time holding back and saving any for my leftovers. It also usually has a little bit of sheen from the butter that it's cooked in. Tonight, I hate to say it, but the naan tasted like it was frozen, or at least not made in house the same day and definitely not with butter. The picture isn't great, but the naan was very dry, nothing like their usual. Lastly, I ordered the kale pakoras because when I ordered the vegetable pakoras previously, the kale pieces were by far my favorite. Tonight, I almost didn't recognize them. I think they were fried in oil that was too hot because the outside was dark/burned and the inside was completely undercooked with raw batter. I ordered take out from Mild 2 Spicy on a whim this weekend, and am glad I did! Vegetable samosas, masala dosa, roti and saag paneer were on my order and when I showed up a half hour early to pick it up, the staff courteously told me that it'd be at least 15 mins to get it ready. Promptly, in just about 12 mins, they called and had my food neatly packed and ready to go! Portion sizes are well larger then I expected too! Flavors are authentic - I'm judging by the sambar accompanying the dosa. It's meant to be a lentil stew and they've nailed it. The samosas and saag paneer are also top notch. Being a picky Indian food consumer, I know I'll be coming back to Mild 2 Spicy! read more

I ordered the butter chicken & chicken tikka masala - I'm pretty sure that, even though they were marked as being different dishes, they were the same. Same consistency, same taste...and sweet. Fantastic Indian food in Chicago. And I love being able to customize it as well, because while my partner and I like Indian food Hyderabad spicy (extra spicy), the kids don't. I love Mild 2 Spicy! Surprised I haven't written a review sooner! Whether it's dining in or taking out/delivery, this restaurant never misses a beat and quality is always there! I always order the Tikka Masala (medium because I'm weak! You can tailor it to your spice level. The "spicy" spice level is also great, but I just can't take it) and garlic naan (delicious). Each entrée comes with a side of rice (which most Indian places don't offer that nowadays). I ordered delivery from Mild 2 Spicy and was very happy overall, with one unfortunate exception. I ordered the kale pakora, daal thaduka (yellow dal), and a side of cumin rice (not realizing I was already getting plain rice with my dal). The portions were extremely generous - my delivery bag weighed so much that I thought there was a mistake in the order! But the large quantity was not at the expense of quality. The food was very fresh with high quality ingredients. I particularly liked the pakora, which came with delicious tamarind and mint chutneys. I thought they had a great balance of kale and dough. The dal was also really delicious, but I put it on the cumin rice without trying each first. There were so many cumin seeds in the rice that the cumin flavor completely overwhelmed the flavor of the dal. It was much better when I paired the leftover dal with plain rice - then the nice flavor of the dal really came through. I will definitely order from them again but will pass on the cumin rice. I would have liked it if they used a lot fewer cumin seeds, so I'd recommend sticking with the plain rice. read more

Paneer makhni - tasted more like tomato soup - once you add the raita, tamarind and mint sauces (I bought extra) it does the trick but without it not true to taste. But the paneer was excellent consistency well cooked and plentiful. The sauces i mentioned were watered down, didn't appreciate that given the prices. Butter Naan was very dry and almost toasted. The real negative was the mixed pakora - what a weird batter and sooooo much batter sooooo little veggies. It was batter on batter with a sliver of veggies that I could barely figure out what it was. Pulao with peas - lacked flavor and peas were almost frozen still. Regular rice that came with main dish in makhni was super in flavorful not even cumin seeds. Rashmalai - delicious 5/5 I ordered delivery via Uber eats. I always temper my excitement bc I know that between cooking and delivery food quality, texture etc may suffer but this was too many negatives to blame that. I may try it again as I want to like it and hopefully this was an off night. read more

Went here on Saturday night for dinner, and will be making it a regular place for good Indian food. Ordered butter chicken and butter naan. The chicken was good and there was plenty of it. Got it medium and it had nice flavor with a little bite to it. The naan was good and there was a good amount. Also, got an order of malaai chicken masala to go for my roommate, and he said it was great too. Place is nice inside and very clean. Staff were friendly and attentive. This place is going to do well. I live further down on Diversey in Logan Square and wish it were closer, but I'd probably be there more often than I will be now. read more

Stopped by after catching up on a morning of errands and shopping around this neighborhood and was so pleasantly surprised the incredible flavors, extremely attentive service, and excellent weekday lunch special. Was able to sample an entree of my choosing (butter chicken!) with a side of freshly made garlic naan and basmati rice, accompanied by their delicious masala chai and a dessert of choice. Had really high hopes from this place when I went there for the weekend buffet because of some good reviews heard from another friend. But, I guess when it comes to taste, people have different preferences. Liked that they had chai which was good but the food was okay. The place was clean but the service was okayish. The servers didn't care about if we started eating already or not but they were just doing their job by putting dosas/naans on the tables just for the sake of giving. We started with chai first and got dosas and naans on our tables which we knew will go cold if stay too long outside as we were not going to eat them immediately. But the servers didn't care. Don't know about non veg options but, the only good veg option in curry was koftas. Other than that, everything else was not that great. Best Indian food I've had since moving to Chicago 6 months ago! The presentation and taste were both great. Portions were large as well, meaning I have leftovers for dinner! The outside is unassuming but the interior is very nice, well maintained. Service was incredible, the hostess and server were very attentive and kind. Our water glasses were never empty and I genuinely felt like the server truly cared about our overall experience at the restaurant overall, and with the food itself. I will say that the lamb dish ended up not being as spicy as I expected, which was the only small downfall but the flavor of the dish itself was great and the lamb was super tender. Naans were good in terms of size and fluffiness, no complaints there. I asked each dish to be spicy but only the lamb dish was spicy. Lamb dish was good but not the best lamb rogan josh I've had. I'm Indian so I'd probably give the rogan josh a solid 8/10. The chicken tikka masala tasted a bit like butter chicken, but as a dish I'd give it 9/10. They give you a lot of rice with each dish and the prices are cheaper than your typical Indian restaurant in the Chicago area. Location is top notch as well. Hope they do well! read more

We were excited about a highly reviewed option with lots of dosas but this didn't do it for us. The food was remarkably bland, except where it had an occasional unpleasant aftertaste. The chicken tandoori was strangely wet. The mint paratha was unaccountably made with dried mint, and so it was both overpowering and unpleasant to eat. The samosa chaat was okay. The food is a bit bland. Neither bad but also nothing worth going out of your way for. Friend had a mild curry and they don't tolerate spice well and even they said it was too sweet.
