I had LomiLomi with Kate. This massage is really special, it helps with emotional weight and during difficult time. It requires the masseuse to have not only a lot of knowledge about the unique technique but also open heart and mind because she uses her entire body and energy including breath to focus and release physical and emotional tension from the body which are interconnected system. It's a holistic type of massage and I could not have asked for more. I had tears in my eyes and I felt instantly lighter upon leaving the place. This is my favorite type of massage and not many places know how to properly perform it. Kate combined the LomiLomi with a little bit of deep tissue and thai stretching at the end which was perfect. My husband had deep tissue and thai stretching with Amie and he loved it as well. He works out a lot plus he coaches soccer daily on youth pro level so he is constantly under stress and moving a lot. But wow was this an intense massage. If you're quite petite and skinny like I am, this is gonna be a pretty painful experience. I was sore for 5 days after, but it was worth it for the price and the fact that my body wasn't so tense, and I wasn't screaming in pain every time someone lightly touched my shoulder. I specifically said I only wanted my back and feet worked on, but when my masseuse came in, she started massaging my legs and glutes. I had to stop her and repeat that I only wanted back and feet. (-1 point) Honestly, it felt like I paid for someone to just use their forearm to spread lotion on my back. (-1 point) The pressure was extremely light and slow, and she spent most of the time just moving up and down along my spine in one direction. (-1 point) I'm not exaggerating when I say that's basically all she did for my back. I could've paid my 3-year-old niece to do the same thing. She also tried to work on my neck, and I had to redirect her again to focus on my shoulders. After I said that, she briefly used her knuckles and applied heavy pressure, but it only lasted about 2 minutes before she went right back to the same up-and-down motion on my back. It honestly made me feel uncomfortable, as if she was reacting negatively to being redirected. (-1 point) I was worried that if I asked for medium pressure, she might respond too aggressively (like using her elbow). At that point, I realized it wasn't really about adjusting the pressure, but the overall technique, and that's not something I should have to coach her during a massage. Communication was difficult throughout the entire session. (-1 point) Afterward, I shared my experience with the front desk, and he did adjust the pricing from a #4 trigger point massage to a #1 body massage, which I appreciated. (+1 point) Another thing to note is their stamp card system. Apparently, the stamps only apply to a specific type of massage. So if you get a body massage one visit and a trigger point massage the next, they count toward separate cards. That means to earn a free massage (buy 12, get 1 free), you'd have to stick to the same type every time. It doesn't really incentivize you to be a regular or loyal customer. Overall, the experience was terrible. I've had plenty of massages at different businesses and this one felt like the masseuse didn't even try. I used to come here because of the price, but I won't be coming back.
