Having a less than great experience there, we decided to yelp other running stores in the area, and that's how we found this place. We came in and Greg got us started in the right direction! What a class act! I am a daily work outer and I was having a problem with my feet. While they were not able to fit my wide feet in a pair of shoes they did sell me inserts that took my ankle pain right away. Not only did they do that he gave me names of the shoes that would work. I first went to this place last year after my deployment. I was training for a triathlon and wanted to get fitted for a shoe. I usually just buy a shoe and I'm all right with it but I always wanted to see how I ran. The first time I went there I ran on a tread mill and they assessed how I ran by recording it. Once they were done they had me watch how I ran. I always thought I was flat footed or ran funny but apparently I was neutral. They gave me a bunch of shoes that I could try on and fell in love with one. (It is the green one in the picture) I used that show for my first triathlon and loved it! But today I went in to get myself a trail shoe. I walked in and also gave them a flyer I had too. Anyways I looked at several trail shoes and was handed one that was 40% off and was last years model. I loved the shoe, it matched my sock that I was wearing. I run a trail run this weekend and can't wait to try my shoes!! I really recommend this place. read more

Customer service is unmatched in San Diego County. Chad couldn't find the New Balance shoe in the size and color that I wanted so what did he do?... He called me the next morning to inform me that New Balance had the exact shoe available if I order it myself online. He knew that New Balance keeps a certain amount of stock available for their online customers. So instead of selling me something that I didn't want or need, he helped me find the shoe and received no compensation on his end. Who does that?!?!?!? Gosh, I feel bad I forgot to get the salesperson's name. But he was great! He did my gait analysis (my first!) and showed it to me, using another video to compare it to. Then he showed me what to look for when I was buying shoes...but didn't pressure me to buy something from them. He brought out about 5 pairs of shoes for me to try and I found a pair I really liked. He even said I could go outside and run in them if I wanted (I passed) but I'm glad I had the option. I'd definitely come back here for my next pair. read more

I found Milestone after a rather lukewarm experience at a big name store to remain unnamed reminded me how much better it is to support the local store. I'm glad it worked out this way, as the service here was outstanding. I received a gait analysis and several types of shoes to try. Once I settled on my favorite, the nice man helping me even insisted I try a few more similar to the one I liked. I left happy, armed with some new knowledge about potential reasons (gait issues) for crazy soreness I've been getting in my calves since attempting to return to running after a long layoff, and with a new pair of runners that feel great! Loved it! Went today for a new pair of shoes. They were super friendly and helpful. I didn't feel like I was trying to be sold on extras. Its got a really cool local vibe and you can the employees are genuinely passionate about what they do. I found a pair I loved, but wanted a different color. Small, but super cool spot! If you are looking to get properly sized and fitted for the right shoe for you, this is a great spot to start. Not only had I previously been running in shoes too small for me, but I was also able to see exactly how I run. They have you run on the treadmill and they take a video. They watch a slo-mo of the video to see exactly what you do when running. They explain it all to you and bring out their suggestions for you to try on. They even let you run outside to test them out. I'm supper happy with the shoes I walked out with. I'm getting ready for a Half Marathon so I hoping these shoes get me through the run with flying colors! These guys are awesome. I moved to Colorado a year ago. Took me a while to get on here and review them. I didnt know they did gait analysis. Now that i do you cant beat the small store hospitality with the big class knowledge. I used to frequent there running group. Ive been known to have won a couple watermelons in my time at their after party raffel. I would also see the owners at other running groups. They are friendly and most importantly seasoned fast knowledgeable runners. I have bought 2 pairs of shoes and a foam roller from them all at great prices. read more

Honestly. Everyone else hit it on the spot. This place is great. Took a small 15 second video of my running motion. It's just of your ankles and feet. Chad let me watch it and see what my feet were doing. Then he brought out 6 pairs of shoes and let me try them on and even run in them (on the treadmill and outside). I'm a fan of supporting small, local businesses. Thus, I ended up here as opposed to another "run" of the mill running store. I was wearing my old pair when I came in and pretty much told them I wanted to stick to the same category (I.E. I'm more like a jog-a-thon run-ER..I mean walker). They recommended a couple of pairs, gave me the cliff notes on each one, and let me try/walk around and outside the store with them. What a great place. Clean, aesthetically pleasing, and personable employees. Within a few minutes of entering the store they had me on the treadmill, recommended five pairs of shoes, all of which were comfortable, and I was out of there with a great new pair of shoes within a half hour. It's a pretty small location, but they seem to have ample inventory and reasonable prices. The shoes I bought were a little more expensive than my last pair, but it was well worth the extra expense. I wanted to start running and needed my first pair of good running shoes. I told the guy that I was a total newbie and I wasn't sure which shoe I wanted/needed and he brought out 6 pairs for me to try on and compare. I picked out an awesome pair and left the store with a big smile on my face. Unfortunately, after the very first time I ran in them, I developed a blister on my left foot. I changed up my socks and laces and ran a few more times, hoping it was just a fluke but the blister was just getting rubbed raw each time. I remembered the guy said I could bring them back within 30 days if there were any problems, so that's what I did. He didn't make any stink about it and gave me a couple other pairs to test out. I found another pair that felt great and he let me exchange them, as they were the same price. I've used those now a few times with no issues. I will definitely continue to shop here and will recommend to anyone. Great service, helpful advice, and decent selection. read more

I wish I could give 10 stars! This place is fantastic! Everyone is knowledgeable and helpful. I went in here with the intent to purchase so that I can retire my old running shoes. They went above and beyond to help my find a pair of replacement shoes "as similar to these as possible." There is a 30 day return policy so if they aren't the peanut butter to my jelly, I can return them and begin the search again. I will def return to this spot. He understood my needs and had some great advice, brought me out at least 8 pair to try on without me even asking. Update: went there this month to get a new pair of shoes. Was happy with my Pureflow 4s, but said I'd like to try on anything else that they might recommend for a Brooks lover. They brought out a pair of Pureflows, and three other shoes. One, I was able to quickly discard. Two went for test runs. Of the two, one was a clear also-ran and the other has dethroned Pureflow 4 as my go-to shoe. The big surprise? The winner is Nike Free. I used to wear Nike a lot, but haven't cared much for them in years. I even commented on that when I bought, that I can't believe this shoe is a Nike. They said they were surprised by it, too, and that Nike had clearly decided to do something about the market share it was losing among runners. This is why it's great to get running shoes from a local store. I buy a lot of stuff online, but shoes aren't one of them. They can't recommend things the way knowledgeable staff in a local running store can, and I'd have to order a ton of stuff and try it all one, and the usual rules are "Returns must be unworn." If you haven't tried Milestone yet, you need to do it. As Mr. V (review in my sidebar as I'm writing this update) says, "Go to this place, and you will abandon RoadRunner pretty fast." It's not that RR is bad, but Milestone just rocks! read more

Great experience! Was looking for somewhere that offers gait analysis to help my friend get fitted properly for walking shoes. We were greeted and helped from the moment we walked in and I'm pretty sure he left with shoes that he loves. They have a good selection of popular brands, however, apparently because the shop is small, I got the impression they don't carry specialty sizes.
