I was in desperate need of some new running shoes and my friend John suggested I try Milestone. In the past I had gone to one of the larger stores that would fit the insoles to my foot. When I walked in, I was greeted by Chad who was one of the owners. We talked about my running goals and he grabbed a pair shoes and proceeded to videotape me running on the treadmill. After he showed me my video, he took the time to have me try on seven different styles. It just so happened that the very first pair he had me try on with the ones I love the most. He clearly knows what he's doing. In addition, he saved me money by not trying to sell me unnecessary inserts. To top it all off, he gave me an additional 10% off. I was in dire need for new running shoes but had no direction as to what brand or style would be perfect for me. Greg not only welcomed me with open arms, but he took the time to evaluate my form by having me run on a treadmill for about 20-30secs while he recorded my feet. It was interesting to see that I clearly needed more medial support in my right foot because every time I contacted the ground, my foot would invert outwards rather than inwards. After the evaluation, Greg picked out 5-7 different styles of shoes that specifically supported my type of gait. I found out about this place when the San Diego Track Club met there for one of their Half Mad training sessions. They opened early for the event. I tended to stay away from local running stores because previous experiences of bad advice, horrible shoe experiences, and high prices. The exact opposite happened at Milestone. First they offer discounts for San Diego Track Club and military service members. Second they told me to go up a shoe size. I was having foot issues and willing to try anything. I was skeptical because I wore a size 8.5/9 since high school and completed several 5ks/half marathons/full marathons. I only wore Nike for years. But I tried the larger size from Brookes and Saucony. I also tried Hoka One One. I love these shoes and with my discount not even Amazon can beat their prices. I also love the shirts that have runners being chased by a California grizzly from the state flag they sell. read more

Great Experience. I usually run about 50 miles a week but was having foot pain. I realized that the problem was my clunky pair of Nikes. The reviews for Milesone were awesome plus I live only a few blocks away and decided to try it out. I explained to the owners where my shoes usually rip after a couple months of wear and the pain I felt in my feet after an hour run or so. The owner had me ran on their treadmill so they could analyze my gait. He brought me 5 different pairs of shoes that each addressed the issues I explained to him. He even ecouraged me to run in them outside if I wanted. The owner knew so much about each shoe and why they would be a good fit and he never pressured me into buying any of the shoes (even though one pair was 50% more than the rest). He gave me a great military discount and I think they might offer students discounts too. I ended up buying an great pair of Newtons that fixed all my issues after just one run. After I got home, I checked some of the shoes on the internet and found that Milestone has competitive prices for all the high end shoes and even better if you get a discount. The selection might seem small at first but if you do a gait analysis and let the owners pick out shoes for you, I think you will find the store has plenty of options. read more

So glad I found this place. Lately, I have been wanting to take my running up a notch and wanted to see about a different pair of running shoes. Also, I have been dealing with an IT band injury. Went in this weekend and had a great experience. I really liked the selection of shoes, but more importantly was the service given to fit me with a shoe that felt just right and met my needs. No sales pressure. Tried on 5 pairs of shoes after the free gait analysis and went with the Brooks PureGrit 3. I really appreciate the sizing advice that they suggested as it felt perfect. Also picked up a foam roller while I was there. This is the best running shoe store in San Diego. Support these guys as we need shops like this in San Diego. read more

Just started actively running a few months ago. I started off with random Nike shoes that I happened to have. After a month of consistent running I decided to check out this shop, it's a bit out of the way for me but I wanted to support small businesses. They took the time to bring me multiple options and explain a few things to me. I ended up not liking the first pair of shoes, they gave me blisters and weren't working for me. So I went back in and asked for an exchange. It was no issue at all, I got a shoe I liked more but it was half a size too small. Checked their online inventory, called to verify they had the shoe and size in stock before heading over. It was super quick and they were very kind. Would highly recommend just on how attentive and accommodating they were. It's a little intimidating if you just started running and you don't know too much, but they're super friendly which makes it easier to go in and find what you need. read more

I came in hoping to get properly fitted for some running shoes because I had knee pain and also told them I had bought some new Asics from RoadRunner that I wasn't sure were right for me. They then had me run on the treadmill and recorded my running mechanics. After looking at the video, they insisted I keep on wearing the new pair of Asics and did not try to sell me anything. I came in because I desperately needed compression socks (most likely because I needed new running shoes). ;) I came in and was given immediate and great service. Gait analysis was interesting and helpful for picking out shoes in the future. They fit me to the correct size compression socks and shoes that would work best for me. I even got to get a little bit of a run in while testing them out! Man, the pair of brooks that I got felt like feathers after wearing my beyond dead shoes! Best feeling ever! The shoes were properly fit and have been nice to my feet since I bought them. I actually ran 20 miles in them two days after I bought them (I know, I was just asking for blisters) but I am happy to say that my feet felt fine after the run! And they held up for my first marathon (a trail marathon) which I completed this past Saturday. The sturdiness of the shoe held up to the trail and kept me from rolling my ankles a few times in some sketchy parts during the trail marathon. And when I was checking out I got two discounts, even after losing ro-sham-bo (rock paper scissors)! Super nice guys. Bummed I am not in San Diego any more, or else I would be back here for a new pair in a few months. Bottom line: This shoe store is an amazing place.
