I wish there was a zero star option, because I hate being lied to and their staffs literally lied to our eyes. We requested a window view table and waited for 30 min for that, then the window was blocked by a giant column. They first said you can wait for another 15 min for a better table, then said it's not clear how long it takes. We decided to seat and before our food arrived we noticed three tables getting empty and asked them to switch our table if possible and they kept telling us those are reserved. We went early and had a great meal. I get that it's a chain, but it's classic "American style" fare and everybody can find something that they like. I had the beet and goat cheese salad with chicken added, it was delicious. I also sampled the cauliflower starter and it was good. My kid had the pasta with cheese sauce and ate most of it, and she's a pretty picky eater at restaurants. She loved that her milk came with little cocktail animals on the glass, and they were very generous with refills. The service was perfect, no complaints. The restaurant was clean, the prices were reasonable. No, it is not gourmet, but it serves its purpose as an easy tourist restaurant with something for everybody, and definitely better food than fast food or lower grade chains like Applebee's or TGIF. read more

Perfect dinner spot for my 19th. Yummy drinks, yummy food. I'm so glad I got the chance to try this place out after about 5 visits to Victoria. It was rather late, so we just ordered two apps with some drinks. Calamari and mussels are highly recommended! Both came out in no time at all and were so tasty! After checking ID for the drinks, our waitress probably got a look at my birth date and came out with a chocolate cake and the end of the meal . How sweet! read more

We visited this place for lunch during our quick trip to Victoria Inner Harbor. It is right in the center of the Victoria Inner Harbor, with good view of the inner harbor and looking at the Parliament building across the harbor. Window seat gives you a very good view, or you can sit outside. We sat inside by the window because it was super hot outside. A cold beer with Fish Taco, (C$16.25), Garden Burger (C$15.75) and Miso Cod (C$25.75) proved to be excellent choice for us. All the seafood was fresh and tasty. Milestones has a great view of the Inner Harbor and has some pretty good food to match. I had the prime rib beef dip sandwich for lunch and it was very tasty. Some places overdo it with ingredients but this one consists primarily of thinly sliced meat and some onions. The yam frites that came with it were a little on the bland side however though not overly greasy. Customer service was good too as our waitress was very friendly and food service was prompt. She persuaded me to try the Miami Ice Tea? or something like that and it was really good. I would have had a 2nd one but the desire to save money won out. read more

Dropped in late afternoon for a cocktail to start planning our Victoria tours. Great ambience. Very nice staff. Very attentive and friendly. Superior location with a spectacular view right on the harbor of all the comings and going's. I ordered an old fashioned, which is a difficult drink to make right. A lady on our flight from Seattle was raving about peach bellinis in Victoria. We weren't sure the name of the place, just knew it was by the water near the Fairmont Empress. The restaurant can be confusing since there's an upstairs formal like part and then downstairs opens up to outdoor seating by the water. We went in and asked, are you known for your bellinis? LOL. Who wouldn't say yes to get business right? We decided to seat outside because it had a great view and there were heat lamps in case it got chilly. The bellinis did not disappoint. Although it was a little chilly for a cold drink (it was evening time), it was worth the brain freeze. I will carry on the tradition and will recommend it to others when asked what to do in Victoria, BC. read more

Had a really nice dinner with family. We did not make reservation, but it was earlish. 6 pm. Sat by the window , great view of the Harbour. Ordered Asian Bites to share, very good. Good sized portion . I had the Thai Noodles. Very good. Brother had the Prawns , he raved . Sister had Prime Rib. Looked and tasted amazing. I had a large glass of Red Wine Sangria. Quite good. We were a party of 7 on a busy Friday night with a 7.15pm reservation. We arrived early and were prepared to wait. Scott a manager, went out of his way numerous times to explain the very slight delay. He even sat us in the bar area and provided complementary appetizers. We were sat before 7.30pm which was totally acceptable even without the comped appetizers. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was as advertised, and a great time was had by all. My working philosophy is that a hamburger proved a baseline on how to start judging a restaurant. Entering Milestones with high hopes - amazing, amazing location - and a hearty appetite, I went straight to the burger. Unfortunately, my food had no character, no soul, no joie de vivre. The patty was cooked nicely, but it had little taste. The cheese was a slice of Tillimook or other brand slapped on top and it wasn't even melted. The bacon was crispy, but it didn't add a lot to the burger. The side of fries that came with the burger were the standard fare with some Heinz catsup in a small container. Not to get all poetic, but a burger is a chance to make a statement. We care! We're unique! We will challenge you! My burger at Milestones made no statement. It wasn't bad... it was just a burger. The staff was really attentive and the scenery from the patio is drop-dead gorgeous, so there are other reasons to be positive about this place, but they're not taking the opportunity to be something special. read more

My wife and I stopped in here to have a glass of wine and stayed for dinner. We ordered a bottle of wine and said we'd let the server know if we wanted to order food. She checked back with us a couple of times. When we were ready to order, we let the hostess know and our server came over quickly. We split the California salad. It was delicious and dressed lightly. The goat cheese added a nice tang. We then had the halibut fish and chips. The halibut was moist and flaky in a crunchy light batter, the French fries crisp and hot. The house-made tartar was really good, light with fresh herbs. And I paid with my AMEX. No need for cash as noted in other reviews. So all in all we had a very nice dinner. This place used to be great, but not anymore. After doing a harbour tour on the boats, we went there for dinner and a cocktail. Very slow service for the waitress to even show up at our table, and it wasn't that busy. After 15 minutes she finally took our order and I ordered a coffee which she forgot and said she would be right back with it. I waited and waited but she never came back. I flagged down a different waitress to see if she could help get me my coffee and she assured me it would be taken care of. After waiting another 15 minutes our meals arrived but still no coffee to which I mentioned to our server that my drink had still not been delivered. Saying she would be right back with it, 10 minutes later a different person arrived with it. The food was bland and not very hot. Waiting over half an hour for a coffee and downhill food, we won't be returning here. It's in a great location at the water, but there needs to be some improvements. read more

I was very pleased with the environment created by the staff. I was greeted by every staff person who passed me and was even complimented on my dress. I felt very welcomed and cared for here. They were so kind to my friend for her birthday and the view at night was gorgeous! The drinks were wonderful and the food was yummy. A bit expensive, but not unusual. This was our first stop after getting off the ferry from Port Angeles. We were all pretty hungry and it was a short walk away. There was four of us and we were seated quickly by a window with a view of the harbor. It was cold out so we all opted for coffee and hot tea. Our server, Siri, had our drinks to us in a timely manor. She noticed one of the mugs was dirty and quickly took it away. We were quite easy two of us ordered eggs benedict and two of us ordered strawberry french toast. The ones with the french toast said it was excellent. I had the eggs benedict and must say it was excellent!! Most rare was the very crispy english muffin. I have found most chefs don't take the time to drain the water off the egg after poaching. They did here!! My egg was perfectly poached and the hollandaise was tangy and creamy. The potatoes were seasoned well and crispy. Yum! Siri was an excellent server. Attentive enough but not pushy just allowed us to enjoy our meal and company. The restaurant was clean and beautiful. Excellent stop for sure!! read more

I was just there with a group for lunch. We informed them we were a business lunch. It took us about 1hr15 minutes to get our lunch. It was clear they were severely understaffed and the staff was not terribly efficient, including the person I assumed was the manager from the way she was dressed differently than the servers who helped some but mostly seemed to wander around ineffectually. It then took around 10 minutes just to get the bill. I blame this on management. You are right next to a convention centre and should know when there is a 700+ person convention happening. The food was good though it was clear the kitchen did not agree with the menu on a few things (your fish tacos say they have cheese but no cheese came, and you argued with us and told us it didn't come with cheese, by the menu says it does) read more

After living in Victoria for 2 and a half years, I finally paid a visit to Milestone's. My Dad was in town, and he'd never been either. The interior is very classy, with wide windows and lots of floor space, as well as a larger-than-typical bar. The restaurant has 3 levels...the main floor, the harbor-level patio, and the top patio. We got a window seat, with a fantastic view of the inner harbor! As for the menu...it's extensive. There's several delicious and exotic sounding appetizers (like crab lettuce wraps with pineapple salsa), intriguing entrees such as the miso glazed cod, and good old-fashioned burgers and pasta. Tradition won out. We both opted for burgers. I got the veggie burger with mushrooms instead of avocado...it was nice, full of flavor, and the side California salad was the perfect accompaniment. My dad also loved his prime rib sandwich with deep-fried onions...said it was just what he was looking for. Only 2 small downsides. 1) Despite the great flavor and texture, The burger I got was lukewarm. 2) Having never once tried gluten-free bread, I decided to get the gluten-free bun. It confirmed every doubt that I'd had...horrible texture and lack of flavor! So unless you're celiac or partial to gluten-free bread...steer clear. We finished with coffee and blueberry tiramisu. Warning that when using gift cards, they will ask for a tip first, then when paying the balance they ask for another tip (ie. tip on a tip). All flash, no substance. We came in for lunch during the middle of the week. All the window spots were taken, but no big deal. The restaurant has nice views over the inner harbour, and you can easily see the legislature building and the Empress. However, that's where the pleasantness ended. The service wasn't terrible, but it took noticeably longer than average to get both our drinks and food. When the food came, my hamburger and fries was lukewarm. The fries in particular were terrible. Just chewy, not crispy. I am generally not a fan of Earls, Cactus Club, Milestones - marginal food with fancy decor and high prices. Hmm this place used to sell one of my favorite burgers... we finally got back to Canada today after a long border closure and I can't say the food has held up since we I visited a couple years ago. We ate downstairs today, maybe it's a different menu entirely from the main restaurant. We only had one night in Victoria, so we wanted to make sure we dined someplace interesting. Our goal was to find someplace on the water where we could eat outside. We found this place on Yelp, the menu sounded good, it was close to our hotel and it looked like it had a nice outdoor area, so we thought it would be perfect. When we arrived, we learned that the menu outside was different than the menu inside...and the menu inside was much better, so we sacrificed eating outside to get the better food. We still had a good view of the water and our server was very nice. The menu had a pretty broad variety of options. I had the steak frites and it was quite good. I also sampled a local beer and it was quite good. My wife and daughter both had the salmon. They said it was OK, but they have definitely had better. My other daughter had the Caesar salad with grilled chicken and dead it was OK...but it's hard to mess up a Caesar salad. In summary - good location, decent food, good service...but if you want to eat outside be prepared for a pretty average menu. read more

I understand the appeal of this restaurant due to it's amazing location on the water and the large menu, but don't waste your money! The service was decent enough but the food is mediocre at BEST. Also, I have a dairy allergy and there was virtually nothing I could eat on that huge menu. Our server said, well.."everything contains dairy because it just makes everything taste better." That included the bread, buns. sauces, tortillas, salads, pastas, etc..That's a ridiculous statement and they obviously aren't a very good restaurant to believe that to be true. They have a really good menu including food for the children and they even recommend sharing which restaurants usually frown at. Our waiter was possibly a little over the top with his friendliness which made it seem a little fake but he was still enjoyable. For a place with such a beautiful location and view they have very decent food. I have low expectations for harbour restaurants, I'm usually happy to enjoy the location, but my grilled seafood salad was excellent and the burgers nearby smelled great. The grilled prawns on my salad were especially good, lightly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Well worth the "location tax" to enjoy the beautiful summer day watching water ferries and float planes come and go. read more

Have you ever wanted some privacy while at a restaurant? Be left alone by the service staff? Be given space? Well then this Milestone's is the place to go to! After receiving your drinks you can expect to be ignored by your waitress for as many as 20 minutes or more, hell everyone will leave you alone. Even asking the bartender to send someone your way so you can order will result in you being left alone to nurse your liquids - better order a big one or drink slowly because otherwise you'll have nothing left to drink. Later, while you're watching the bartender, the same bartender you asked for service from, take the order of another group 2 tables over you can look up the phone number of the restaurant so that you call their front desk and inform them that you are lonely and would like to place an order so if they could send someone, anyone, to take your order that you'd be grateful. Eventually the one who took your call will find the manager for you and tell him that someone has been screwed and that they need to go over there to profusely apologize for their epic fail (they would have made fail blog). At which point you'll tell him what happened and then walk out. The drinks will however be free. On the other hand, the hot dog stand just outside the Milestones serves you in under a minute if you are looking for service that happens quickly with a sense of humour. You can even get nacho cheese on your hot dog. (This all actually happened - no joke) read more

Went here with my boyfriend a couple weeks ago while in town, and while we wanted to order something to munch on, it took us almost 30 minutes to get our drinks, and no one came back! After being there, with one drink and one glass of water each, for over an hour, we were finally able to flag down a busboy to get our MIA waitress to bring our bill. This took another 15 minutes. My family and I were on vacation in Victoria and saw this restaurant full of patrons and decided to give it a try. We had also gotten a recommendation by the concierge at our hotel, the fairmont empress to go here. Beware- there are TWO restaurants here. The downstairs one has a nice deck and a smaller menu, the upstairs one, where we ate, had a bit larger menu and still a great view of the harbor. To start we had A watermelon and beet salad. It was just Average, more watermelons and about four slices of a beet, it totaled to a small portion of the beet. My sister who loves beet salads didn't like it and wouldn't order it again. For dinner my mom had the seafood salad, and she loved it. Had plenty seafood and yummy goodies on top. She said she would order again My dad had the sablefish special and it wasn't as moist as he expected. My sister had the miso blackcod. She liked it but beware-it is a little on The salty side. I ordered the lamb medallions medium rare. When they first came out it was well done, and I couldn't even eat it. I nicely told my server and he brought it back immediately. Less than five minutes later I had a new one. And it was perfect! So fast AND the manager came by and apologized and comped my meal. They were very fast and efficient and didn't have to comp it! Unexpected and very nice. Definitely devoted to good customer service. For dessert we had the top chef special, the strawberry shortcake and the ganache tart. Would definitely get the tart again, so good! The strawberry shortcake was good too, light and lemony. The tart was very chocolately and th crust reminded me of an almond brittle. So good! The view is unbeatable. Milestones has a contemporary feel. We had some bbq wings and chicken pasta that were delicious. The waitress recommended a house specialty drink. I don't remember what it was called but it tasted great. After we left we boarded a ferry back to Vancouver when I realized I had left my camera bag on the back of my chair. I immediately called from the ferry. The staff found my bag and said they would store it inside their office until I came back for it. The next day I returned and was pleased to see my camera and money were still inside the camera bag. I offered a large tip to the person that was responsible for helping return my bag to me. They politely declined and said people leave their belongings there all the time and they are always happy to return lost items to their owners. I will be back for sure! read more
