    Banana Milk Brew
    Jessica G.

Got pretty astonished by how huge the space was, looking like a sizable office space converted into a minimalistic coffee shop. The signature drinks they offered were literally what they called out in their name. It's apparently a Japanese coffee-making technique by brewing the coffee directly with milk instead of water. As the process took quite plenty of time, it let the coffee taste stayed strong yet smooth. What made it fun was they offered different options of milk including corn and banana! Thanks to the barista who warned me that the banana milk came sweet within the default mode so I opted for no extra syrup. When you went for other milk, you typically would want to add the housemade syrup. I felt it was right balance between being creamy yet still allowed the coffee flavor leading.

Found this spot soft opening in Pasadena. Imagine a cold brew but instead of steeping in water, they steep it in milk! Result is a smooth iced coffee perfect for a sunny day! The staff was friendly and since the coffee is brewed overnight, the turnaround is quick. The spot is very spacious and seems like a great spot to study or do some work.

Visited on Saturday, June 13 around 10:55 AM. Unfortunately, the milk brew was already sold out, so I'll have to come back and try that next time. My partner ordered a strawberry latte, and I ordered a cappuccino. Total came to $12.60, and payment was quick and easy and surprisingly they didn't ask for tip. Since this is still a newer shop, there are a few areas that could improve. Our drinks took about 15-20 minutes to come out, and my cappuccino was initially made as a latte. The barista caught the mistake, remade it, and kindly let me keep both drinks. Both were served a bit cooler than I expected. On the positive side, I really enjoyed the espresso. It had a floral, slightly funky flavor profile that stood out from the typical coffee shop roast. My partner felt the strawberry latte was just okay, as the flavor seemed to come mostly from syrup. The space is a highlight: spacious, minimalist, and cozy, with several large tables and plenty of outlets for working or studying. Parking can be a bit challenging. Most nearby street parking is limited to 30 minutes, though Paseo Colorado is an option if you don't mind a short walk. Overall, I think this place has a lot of potential. The espresso was promising, and I'm looking forward to coming back for the milk brew. As they continue to refine their workflow, I think the overall experience will improve as well.

    Beautiful space!

Such a beautiful, inviting space with incredible drinks! The concept of Milk Brew is something I've never heard of until coming here. They steep the coffee grounds in milk instead of water. The end result is absolutely delicious! I tried the banana milk brew & the regular milk brew...both were really good. I'll definitely be coming back to try their other menu items including their pour overs.

Such an amazing addition to the area!! I love the whole milk brew concept and the coffee flavor came through more than I thought it would which was great. The flavor customizations are so fun too. We tried the banana milk brew and banana latte. Will return to try more!

The best banana milk coffee I have ever had. The cafe is so clean and spacious, and the owners are so kind and accomodating. I 100% will be coming back soon!!!

Couldn't even resist taking a sip before taking the picture haha! Cool new spot with a chill minimalist vibe and friendly staff. The sweet milk tea was just right! Not too sweet and super smooth. Def beats the burnt coffee you get across the street at Starbucks. Glad to know I got a new spot to look forward to

Such good coffee here with staff who clearly study the most advanced/new techniques in the coffee world. Definitely the best coffee you can get in the Los Angeles area, only other coffee I've had that rivals this is in Japan!

The Build: I ordered the banana cream matcha, which features a rich matcha base with standard oat milk, topped with a heavenly layer of banana cream and tiny, mysterious crunchy pieces. The Flavor Profile: Taste-wise, the drink was absolutely heavenly. The matcha itself was wonderfully rich, and mixing in the banana cream took it to the next level, while the crunchy toppings added a really nice occasional texture. The only real letdown was the size, the cup was just so tiny for an $8 price tag. Even though the flavors were incredible, it felt a bit hard to justify the steep cost for such a small portion. The Verdict: While the major price tag means this won't be an everyday habit, the solid flavors and super fast, friendly service make it a perfect spot for a little treat every once in a while. The staff had my drink out almost instantly around 10 AM on a Tuesday, and since I live so close, I'll definitely be back occasionally when I want to spoil myself.

They only allow 4 people inside at a time so that explains why there's always a line. I've come before on the weekend around 11am and the line has been 15-20 people deep. The times I've been I've had the Matcha tonic, Iced Mocha and Gui Hua Latte (only comes hot). The Gui Hua latte solidified why this place is so hyped and deservingly so. The drinks are handcrafted, well made and have a unique flavor profile to them. My wife also ordered an iced Vienna Latte and that one is really good as well. The iced Matcha tonic is refreshing as it comes with a yuzu hit. We recently had the spinach croissant as well and we enjoyed it. Sometimes they carry @crumbsandflakesla pastries and those are to die for. The surrounding area near Mandarin coffee stand is also pretty unique it takes the vibe of alleys in London. There's no bar or table seating inside the coffee stand itself and they only allow a few people in at a time. Make sure to get here early or you could be waiting 20 minutes just to order. This place does live up to the hype and I'd say is one of the top 5, maybe even top 3 coffee spots in Pasadena.

No parking, way too busy, way too full to seat us, a line bursting out the door, the tiny bakery cafe still seduced us. That is, Mr B circled the block in the car but pushed me out to get in line. It was the idea of a flaky, buttery, chocolate croissant crumbling all over his shirt that made him do it. And I had no intention of saying no. The line went quickly. To make matters worse, we were told to leave the patio an hour before the shop was even closing. If the patio has different hours, that should be clearly communicated instead of asking paying customers to leave early. Overall, this was a frustrating experience. Between the unfriendly service, flavorless coffee, and being asked to leave well before closing, I won't be coming back. There are plenty of other cafés in Pasadena that offer much better coffee and treat their customers with respect.
