Long line on a Sunday morning, but went by quickly. Location is small and fast-paced. Ordering style is pretty efficient. They call you up to enter & order, and limit 4 people inside at a time. Drink came out quickly, ordered 2 Vienna iced lattes for $14. It was enjoyable to sip on, not overly sweet.
Small coffee spot with a bit of a wait, you line up outside and get called in when it's your turn but it moves pretty smoothly and is worth it. The service was really great once inside, and both the coffee and matcha were very good. It's a simple setup, but they do the basics really well. I'd definitely come back.
More of a grab and go spot, very limited space inside that they limit capacity to 4 guest inside and rest of the line is outside. However, there are handful of small table with seats in the outdoor corridor area. We visited on a Monday late morning and line seems to be non stop as well. Not sure what other people like about this spot but my taste buds could differ. "Toasty" -my colleague ordered this and my initial sip was good not knowing what she ordered. After confirming that it should be coffee, there was not a trace of any coffee flavor. It was more of a light milk tea with a lot of cinnamon. But overall, pretty watered down. Vienna Latte -espresso wasn't as strong as I'd like. After mixing in the sweet cream, it was bit too creamy. Not bad but also not great.. Matcha Latte -not good at all, very watered down. Not much matcha flavor nor was it creamy either.
I was visiting the area and wanted to try this place based on the many positive reviews. This place seems to be good for just locals because the staff only greeted customers they knew but did not greet or provide a friendly acknowledgement when I ordered or picked up my coffee when it was ready. Service aside, my vanilla bean latte was decently good. The vanilla bean was shaved on the top only. I doubt I will return for just the coffee alone.
I ordered the hojicha latte and it had a decently strong hojicha flavor but it was grainy. My friends ordered the matcha latte and matcha tonic and both were pretty good! I can see how the lattes can taste like pure milk with a splash of matcha powder since the powder settles a bit if you're not mixing it but overall it's not bad! Wouldn't say it's the best though. Costs around $7/$8 per drink so a bit on the pricier end. Service was excellent, I received my order within a couple minutes of ordering. There was a long line when I was there on a Sunday afternoon. There is some seating outside the store but no seating or area to drink inside. Only 4 people are allowed in the store at a time since they usually have long lines. Parking is available in the back with other shared businesses. Don't think I'd come back though but worth a try!
This could be one of SoCals Finest Coffee Shops and I dont use that term lightly. Tucked in a covered, attractive "arcade", the only sign that says you have arrived is a small Postcard sized sign that says "Mandarin." The shop is small, take out only but there is covered seating just outside underneath a sunroof. A small sign says since the shop is small, only four folks allowed in the store at once. Once you order, good idea just to wait the short while until your order is up. There is a rope outside in case there is a line outside, and there usually is, since this is a gem of a place. Hours are 8 to 3pm Their mixologist produces creative, but flavorful drinks, without being over bearing, or silly or sweet. Small batched coffee from Guatemala and other parts around the world.. along with tea. All high quality and Ive tried both their whole bean coffee and Chai. The usual suspects of Pastries are in a clear case as you order in case you want something to go with your coffee tea. I always stick to the Matcha Tonic. Ive only seen one other shop elsewhere do this drink but not as great as Mandarin. Definitely make it a must next time you are cruising Lake or near Pasadena
I always take my friends and family here when they're visiting: 1. Because it's so close to Caltech 2. Because it's the best quality coffee and matcha in Pasadena Mandarin is a little coffee shop on Lake Ave in a cute decorated alleyway. There is always a line out the shop past 10:30 ish AM until closing in the early afternoon, but it's worth and honestly the line goes by fast. Their Vienna latte has my absolute favorite cream top. Their cream top is so good that I used to get it on top of my matcha (also fantastic!), but they actually stopped allowing the up charge for you to add their cream to the matcha. Their pastries are brought in every morning from another bakery, but I'm in love with their everything and pretzel croissants.
Trying new shop besides the common one. The shop run by Asian and also near by shop. Interesting since I am not near Asian area but what a gem. We tried their favorite ones and I love specially the Vienna Latte. So yummy. Tried them and let me know how you like them and don't let the line scared you, it moved pretty quickly so no worries. Let me save you money... this place is not worth the hype you see on social media. I'm sorry but it's really not! I think if you're going just for the aesthetic aspect of it, then sure absolutely but if you're looking for your new regular coffee shop? Absolutely not. It's just mediocre. I ordered the matcha latte and an almond strawberry croissant and truly both just tasted like a regular every day item you could find anywhere. I was disappointed to be honest, since social media has hyped it up so much. I don't know if they warm up the pastries if you were to ask, but I was disappointed that they didn't ask if I wanted it warm. I think the croissant could have tasted better if it had been warm. The place is cute, but I truly don't think it's worth the price or the wait. The customer service was fine, they don't want the hallway getting crowded so they do ask you to wait which is partly why the line is long. The place is super small so it does get cramped inside while waiting for your drinks but they are fast which I was thankful for. All in all, it's a cute place but not worth the money.
I wanted to love this place, I saw some reviews online raving about the matcha. Due to the small space, everyone waits outside until it's their time to order. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but in winter with some wind, that area functions like a wind tunnel and was freezing. The service was also quite slow, I appreciate the attention to detail, but when there's a long line outside it can be frustrating. I ordered the Matcha Latte and my friend ordered the chai latte. I like that non-dairy milk did not cost extra! I find their pricing to be very fair compared to other coffee shops around. The matcha latte was just okay, the matcha tasted dull. However, it was one of the prettiest matcha lattes I've had! My friend's chai latte was incredibly strong/spiced to the point she couldn't finish it as it was so concentrated at the bottom of the cup. I also got a pretzel croissant. Unfortunately their toaster oven caught fire according to the cashier so it was cold. Even cold, this was the highlight! The flakey croissant dough with a pretzel crust and salt was amazing. I'm not sure if I'd come back, I'd love to try the hojicha latte, but I don't think I would want to wait in that line again.

This was a very cute cafe in Pasadena. There is a line out of the door but the service is quick and the staff are nice. There are also lots of menus posted outside for you to browse while you wait. There are several drink options and pastries offered. Outside, there are lots of tables and chairs in the hallway to relax and catch up. The Uji matcha latte tasted quality, and was unsweetened which I liked. My friend got the Vienna Latte and it was very good! It's on the sweeter side bc of the sweet cream but still tastes like quality coffee. read more
I go out of my way to make a pitstop here. It is by far one of my favorite coffee shops to visit for create drinks that tie me back to flavors I grew up with. Cute and quaint is the way I'd describe the vibes. With no more than 4 people allowed in the shop at once, there's almost always a line in front and seating is limited to a few out in the arcade courtyard. I usually like to take my drinks to go so I can grab a pain au chocolat at C.A.R down the street but sometimes I'll linger if a table opens up. They team up with different microbakeries on weekends to host popups, my fave being crumbs and flakes, so that keeps the pastry rotation interesting. My drink of choice now, having tried a few items off the menu, will forever be their gui hua (osmanthus) latte. No one can convince me otherwise. Everyone I know who has tried it, has loved it. While there are a ton of hyped coffee shops and cafes, this one is definitely not one of them. read more
I've been to Mandarin Coffee Stand a few times now and always leave satisfied! Every time I've gone on weekdays there has been a line, so I'd imagine it's even longer on weekends. If you own a Tesla, there is a supercharger location right in the parking lot so it makes for a good caffeination stop while charging your electric car. I've had the Toasty, Vienna Latte, Gui Hua Latte and Matcha Tonic with the Toasty being my favorite of the bunch that I keep coming back for. They have a bunch of pastry options that I want to try but they seem to sell out quite early! I have had the Sesame Pretzel croissant though and it was so fire - highly recommended! Mandarin Coffee Stand is such a great little shop in the cutest little area! I will absolutely be back! read more

Don't be intimidated by the line out front. It goes by faster than you think! I like the Vienna Latte. It's nothing too special, and a bit on the pricier side, but it gets the job done. The arcade is also nice to wander around, but good luck finding a seat! read more

I went for the very first time on a Sunday morning. I got in line around 11, and the wait was about 15-20 minutes. Once I ordered though, they were super fast--my drink came out in under a minute or two. I ordered the Vienna coffee mainly because of the foam (that was the whole reason I wanted it ). I asked if it was sweet--the barista said the foam would be, but overall the drink itself wasn't very sweet. Personally, the coffee wasn't my favorite. I wouldn't go back for the Vienna specifically, but I might try something else because I am a foam person, and I feel like another drink might hit better. Now..the spinach and cheese croissant? That was the star of the show. So good. I wish it had been warmed up a bit more, but honestly the café is super tiny very much a grab-and-go vibe. You walk in, order, leave. There are a few tables outside, but it's definitely more of an aesthetic "come and go" spot than a sit-down café. read more
11/25/2025 I got here around 2:10pm on a Tuesday. It closes at 3:00pm. I got here thinking there will be no lines, but when I got there, there were 6 people waiting in front of me and a few minutes later, 6 people were standing behind me. But the line moved rather quickly. GUI HUA LATTE (Served only hot) Smoky flavor overall, maybe from the espresso. Creaminess from the milk. As you drink it, you can taste the subtle gui hua flavors, however it is still too subtle to detect. I think the espresso masks the flavor a little too much. If it was a tea latte, it might have been better. The milk foam on top was very smooth and brought a beautiful milky flavor and mouthfeel. The dried osmanthus flower on top was a nice aesthetic touch and you can chew and taste it. Although chewing on dried petals is not pleasant, but it does bring more of that flavor through. I appreciated this drink, but probably happy to have tried it once. MANDARIN MOCHA (Seasonal) This was a seasonal drink. It tastes like orange chocolate in drink form. It was done well. Delicious! Smooth flavor too. Love the milk foam which they do really well here. Rich chocolatey flavor. Orange flavor was strong too. They used orange-cranberry marmalade and orange bitters and it really comes through beautifully! You also get the leftover chocolate and the leftover marmalade at the bottom of the cup. Not always pleasing to have that at the bottom of your cup, but the flavors were so good, I didn't mind too much. Recommend this drink! Try it before it's gone! SEATS + TABLES None inside. There is a small table and seats right outside of the shop, but they were right next to the line outdoors and it didn't feel like a cozy sit down area. The Burlington Arcade space has a pretty aesthetic at first glance compared to the other spaces surrounding the strip mall area. However, it still is a space that is not utilized very well. It's a small space and not a welcoming for those who want to enjoy their coffee. Unfortunate indeed. Hope they will find a way to add more tables and seats. Or better yet, find a new space! CUSTOMER SERVICE Good customer service. All the baristas were welcoming and chill too. Yet they made sure that the lines were formed outdoors and everyone got served. PARKING Free parking lot all in the same strip mall where Mandarin Coffee Stand is located. Even though it's a large parking lot, it is still packed! It was difficult finding parking. The parking spaces weren't wide and felt cramped parking next to other cars. Yet can't complain to free parking. Definitely want to return to try their other drinks. It seems their Vienna Latte is one of their popular items after the Gui Hua Latte. But I also want to try their hot drinks. Everyone orders iced coffee or iced drinks, but given how well they've made the hot drinks, I want to try more of their hot drink offerings. Will be back! read more
The Burlington Arcade is so gorgeous and mandarin coffee stand fits right in! While the storefront only allows 4 customers at a time, waiting outside doesn't feel bothersome because you're in such a beautiful space. While they do have citrusy flavors on their menu, much of their focus is on serving Chinese coffee among classics. I got the gui hua latte (which only comes hot) and it really grew on me, with the complex flavor combination of coffee, slight spice, and florality. Their Vienna latte was smooth and rich while their honey yuzu fizz was bright and refreshing. There are a couple of tables in the walkway, but I wouldn't count on doing work here or staying for a long period of time. Parking is pretty easy in the lot, though! read more
Quite the long line on a Saturday afternoon. Small store and only 4 customers allowed in the store at one time. I ordered an iced matcha latte which I thought was just ok - definitely needed a stronger matcha taste and was heavy on the milk. Not my drink but I tried some of the hot Vienna latte and loved it! Would definitely get this if I return. I usually like my coffee sweet and creamy and this did the trick. Loved the cream on top of this drink. read more
Cute little cafe! There's a parking lot in the back. Staff were nice. I got the sweetened matcha latte ($7.25). It wasn't too sweet, and the matcha flavor was subtle. pretty tasty, but I don't know if i'd gravitate toward coming here often. I was told they stopped doing cream tops in June, so if that's what you're looking for, don't come here. read more
I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I could get behind the hype (though the 20-25 min wait shortly before closing is kinda wild lol) Our go to is the Hojicha ($7). I enjoy it either cold or hot (unsweetened). Surprisingly also enjoyed the Sicily, which is refreshing and almost even savory imo. Didn't mind waiting despite the rainy weather because of how cozy burlington arcade is haha. never an issue finding parking in the lot. read more

Loved their AYR Jeju black tea! I liked that it had that deep roasted flavor and combined with a sweetener it had the perfect contrast of roasted and sweet. The matcha latte is probably one of the best in Pasadena - super earthy and rich in flavor without tasting clumpy over over-saturated. I've had the gui hua latte as well, but as someone who doesn't really like espresso I only got this once just to try it, and I did enjoy it. Their pastries are really good too, which I believe are sourced from a bakery. But 4 out of 5 times I've gone, they didn't have many choices left, which is a shame because I think they have some of the best pastries among other coffee shops in the area. I think only twice I've been able to grab a plain croissant. read more

Parking lot is free for 90 minutes. Small drinks. Really tasty stuff if you love coffee. The baristas and atmosphere inside is nice. I wish the shop was larger and not limited to only 4 people inside at a time. I'd love to vibe out and work if there were a larger shop to relax in. I liked it. I was here to stamp my Pasadena Coffee Passport before the year ended. I'd come back to try tea and non-caffeinated specialty drinks. 3.5 stars. Confused... I've heard soo soo soo much about this place. Even people from OC were telling me how much they loved it. I finally decided to go after my Saturday morning workout. There was a line but I get why because the place is so tiny only group is allowed in at a time. I did like that your drink is made a min after it's ordered so there's virtually no wait. The menu itself is super small only a few latte and matcha options, I got the Vienna latte. I thought it was good but nothing worth the hype and the line. I think there were 5 other coffee shops I would've rather gone to over this one. It pretty much tasted like the coffee I made at home the day before. Maybe it needed more sugar? Or flavor or something? I'm not sure something was lacking tho read more

Vienna Latte, chocolate chip cookie and almond cwossan all delicious. Line moves fairly quickly albeit i was there on a Tuesday so wasn't too busy. It's very small inside but there's a few tables right in front to sit and enjoy your treats. There is a 4 person capacity inside so make sure to wait in the line until you're called to come in. Lots of cute stores next door too and plenty of parking in the lot (first 90min free!) read more

A long line on a rainy day. I really didn't understand the hype when I saw the line as it was a bit of a wait. However, once we received our drinks, I can sort of understand why people would line up for this. I ordered the Sicily, which was super refreshing and tasted like a citrus coffee. My wife ordered the Gui Hua Latte and she enjoyed it very much. There isn't much seating area other than the shaded area outdoors. I don't believe you get that much privacy since the line is basically right out the door. The restrooms were locked when we were there... so I was pretty bummed. We basically got our drinks and just enjoyed them in the car. read more

This is a super tiny coffee stand inside a cutely decorated center and can be easily missed because it's pretty hidden! They're open daily 8am-3pm Parking can be challenging since the parking lot available is shared with many other businesses Went on a Tuesday morning and was surprised there was a line but the line moves pretty fast! Once in line, you have to wait to be called inside when it's your turn because it's super small! It was nice that they don't charge for milk substitutions! Got the Vienna Coffee ($6.50) and it was so creamy and delicious! The coffee was pretty strong but it wasn't bitter. Really enjoyed how refreshing and how it wasn't too sweet. This was 9/10 The Matcha Latte ($7) was underwhelming. The matcha didn't taste that good and didn't have much of a matcha taste. It was pretty disappointing and I definitely won't wouldn't recommend! Tried their seasonal Mandarin Mocha and their signature drink Toasty, both half sweet, and they were really good and flavorful! The Mandarin Mocha was rich in chocolate with a nice tangy orange kick, definitely something I'd get again. The Toasty was more on the floral side, kind of like drinking tea with coffee, lightly sweetened and very well-balanced. The service was really friendly and helpful, which made the visit even better. The interior is super cute, and the walkway is charming too. Parking in the back is free for 90 minutes, which is convenient. I noticed some people studying, though seating is limited. Overall, I'd recommend this spot and would definitely come back to try more of their drinks! read more
One of my must visit spots whenever I'm in Pasadena! Coffee is AMAZING. I think about the Vienna latte often, and my boyfriend really enjoys their tonic drinks. Worth the wait as there's usually a line, and it's inside the Burlington Arcade which is a very cute area in itself with other shops to check out! read more

I'm pretty skeptical with matcha but I thought it was very simple and delicious! I also felt that the matcha was a good size for what I got. Smooth and tasty coffees! The Vienna Latte has a nice brown sugar taste but other than that it's a typical espresso latte. 7/10 The Toasty is comforting with cinnamon that isn't too overpowering. A smooth and yet velvety drink. 9/10 Quick service and we waited for around 10 minutes in line around the afternoon. Small waiting area so they limit only 4 people inside at a time. Always see this place on Instagram and really wanted to try! Came here with a friend a while ago and was waiting in line when they told us they were closing early cut off the line. We went a second time with a long line but it was totally worth it! The line is long but the wait is fast. The interior is cozy but small. You order and wait inside to get your drink to go. There isn't any seatings inside but there are some tables outside in the arcade. They also have a selection of different coffee beans and some tea you could buy. There is a parking behind the arcade with the first 90 minutes free. We ordered the matcha latte w oat milk, vienna latte w oat milk, and the matcha latte with whole milk-- all sweetened. My friend enjoyed the matcha with the oat milk more than the whole milk because the matcha flavor was more diluted in the whole milk. The coffee was delicious! Would come again. read more
*Coffee Fix Adventures continue* Finally had the chance to come to Mandarin on Sunday. There was a line around 10:30am, which took us about 30 minutes total to get in, order, and get our drinks+pastry. I always ask if places have sugar-free syrup substitutes, and sadly Mandarin does not...they only had Stevia & Sweet'n Low. I think most of their lattes and signature drinks already come pre-sweetened... Hubby ordered their "Toasty" signature latte. Strong Rooibos flavor mixed with the espresso was unique & I liked it. However, their "Toasty" was noticeably smaller than the regular iced Latte that I ordered w/ Almond Milk. I didn't feel that their Latte was bad, but also didn't really like their espresso flavor as much as other coffee places I've been to. Just personal preference, I guess...When I consider the wait, I'm not sure it merits another visit to Mandarin. They ran out of the Kimchi Spam Musubi Croissant before 11AM, which was a bummer. We just got the Ham & Cheese Croissant, which was standard. Cute little alley on Lake Ave. & Mandarin is tucked in the back near the parking lot. read more
I've been seeing photos of this place for the longest time because of the surrounding aesthetic, and I finally decided to give it a try. I ordered the gui hua latte and the Vienna latte. I was super excited for the gui hua latte, and while the floral notes were definitely there, it had a weird aftertaste that I didn't really enjoy. I appreciate how unique the drink is, but I'm not sure about this combo. The Vienna latte was decent, but nothing special, and it didn't really taste like coffee to me. read more
