I've been here 3x and I love this location! Ample parking and the staff give decent scoops!! Ice cream tastes the same as the Westheimer location. My go to is Thai tea and city that never sleeps split scoop!

Probably my favorite ice cream in Houston currently. My cousin and I go once a month after dinner. Service is friendly, space has indoor and outdoor seating, parking lot is big but not at the same time so I just park further away and walk. The ice cream is creamy, thick (I hate soft/airy ice cream), doesn't melt fast, and of course I always support an Asian owned business. My go to flavors are pandan (yum cha) and Thai tea. They're so good. I love trying their seasonal items but stick to my go to's.

My friend was telling me that milk + sugar opened on Buffalo Speedway and was raving about how good the ice cream was so I had to go try it! I've been to the one in Montrose but didn't love it so I was a bit skeptical going to this new location. Boy was I so wrong! There's a bunch of flavors - traditional-ish and some that are more Asian inspired.. some of the flavors we tried were Almond Pound Cake, Cereal Milk, Pandan, Ube, Cheesecake, etc. Now let me stop and say the Cereal Milk is to die for!!! If you're like me and loved drinking the sweet milk after I was done with my Frosted Cornflakes as a child, you will love this one too! I dream of this place just to go back and get this flavor. My son had the Almond Pound Cake and destroyed a large scoop - they don't do kids scoops, which can be a bit much for kiddos. They do two split scoops though for the same price so the 2nd time we went, we did that and gave him one split scoop instead. They won't split it for you though so grab it in a cup, with a cone on the side, and split it at the table! Love they have a grassy area out front for the kiddos to play! Right next to the donut shop so if you want a sugar high, go to both! Service was fantastic, ambiance was clean and casual - no frills here! Just an ice cream shop with seating and plenty of fantastic flavors. My son did initially ask for vanilla and they don't have just plain flavors as a PSA. Looking forward to our next time back! They also have pints you can buy and water/bowls/cups on the side to self grab, as well as some merch! A cool space city mural decorates the interior wall.

Milk + Sugar is always a good idea for dessert. I usually get thai tea and rain or shine. It has been a while since I last stopped by so I decided to switch it up. I got a scoop of heart of glass, it has a cream cheese base and it is so fricking good. It was my first time trying Yum Cha... this one in itself carries that 5-star rating. Hands down one of the best ice cream flavors I ever had. I can't stop thinking about it!

    Fantastic Ube Ice Cream !!!
    Michael C.

I went to this business for the first time ever tonight ordering a Small Size Ube Ice Cream. It was very delicious, exotic, rich, good quality and thick without being too icy or too cold. I always wanted to try an ube dessert and almost drove out to Chinatown to finally find it tbh. This was my very first time having that in any form and really enjoyed its unique flavor profile. It had a buttery, creamy, sweet potato / yam, coconut, buttermilk and tiny pinch of cinnamon taste all very well-mixed in one bite. It was sweet just enough, floral in a subtle manner and different, but not out of this world different either. Some other ice cream types that caught my attention for future visits were their Thai Tea, Pumpkin and Double Chocolate. Service was good and fast.

Milk + Sugar is a must-try if you're looking for something different. They don't just stick to the usual flavors like chocolate or vanilla, which makes the experience really fun and unique. Every flavor we tried was creative and tasted great. The ice cream itself is high quality, rich, and smooth. The location is convenient with easy parking, which is always a plus. The shop is also very clean and well kept.

If milk + sugar ever have no fans, that means I am no longer on this earth. By far my favorite ice cream spot, I've been going here every other week for about a year now and I haven't been disappointed a single time. If it's on the menu (because it's a seasonal flavor) I 10000000% recommend getting a la moe, it might be the best ice cream flavor to ever grace this beautiful earth. For non seasonal flavors, I heavily recommend happy wife, Thai tea, PB cookies and cream, and city that never sleeps, but I still recommend trying any seasonal flavor that catches your eye because 9 times out of 10 it's going to be amazing. Workers at this location especially are all super nice, and it always feels like they put in the extra effort to make you feel welcomed. The inside is nice, but I definitely recommend eating outside if the weather permits it! Can't recommend this place enough, please try a la moe before it rotates out if you can!!

We've been a fan of milk + sugar since their OG location. Their Heights spot and this Greenway spot are the two branch locations with the same flavors and style of interior. We obviously prefer the original location for style points but this location has plenty of parking and is in a new, upscale plaza. I got their seasonal ube and pandan double scoop. Great texture and the flavors were delicious. They need to put these on the regular menu honestly. Service is spot on as with all of their stores.

    strawberry almond cheesecake and yumcha

I think I just found my new favorite ice cream place! Milk + sugar is a small ice cream chain, offering unique flavors from thai tea to pb cookies and cream. All of them are absolutely tasty, and they come in pints too. When you walk in, the place smells of waffles cones and it's nice and cool inside. They have lots of bench areas so it's perfect to work or just sit and chat with friends. The workers are there are also super friendly and they let you sample as much as you want. The ice cream... oh man. It is so creamy and the flavors are spectacular. My absolute favorite is the yum cha and rain or shine. It remind me of my childhood. The yum cha flavor is so strong of pandan flavor and also has a good balance of chrysanthemum, so it is the perfect combination. In the picture I got the almond strawberry cheesecake which had a very strong almond flavor (almost like cherry) and chunks of cheesecake, but it was still delicious. I liked the flavor, but I liked another one more which was the rain or shine. It's an earl grey and lemon ice cream and the combination is amazing. Overall, milk + sugar is my new favorite ice cream place. This is a place you definitely don't want to miss out on and I will for sure be buying those pints!

The rise of milk + sugar over the last several years has been nothing short of impressive. Despite the saturation of ice creameries setting up shop all throughout the city, they've managed to stay in the good graces of the ice cream goers in the city, by offering a unique set of flavors ranging from atypical to seasonal. Their popularity exploded with their initial location in Montrose, which has resulted in additional locations in the Heights and finally here in West U earlier this year. While every location has been excellent, this one happens to be my favorite. The reasons are practically infinite: * As the newest location, it feels like a new car every time I come in. The place is clean, significantly less busy than the other locations, and has an atrium out front to enjoy a bit of outdoor ice cream consumption. It makes for a great date spot, a kid-friendly locale, and an ideal after spot for any of the restaurants next door. * Parking is indeed the best and most abundant at this location. The other locations have limited parking but there is certainly no shortage of spaces here. It is a shared parking lot but one that has plenty of availability. * Customer service is excellent in every location and there is no exception here. The people working here have been friendly, cordial, and extremely efficient, making sure that every scoop counts. * And of course the ice cream is outstanding. Butter pecan streusel has been my latest obsession, but the cereal milk is slowly becoming an easy go-to for every visit. I was enamored earlier this year with their yum cha flavor, which was a nod to their Asian-owned Roots, in the form of a delicious pandan and chrysanthemum concoction in frozen treat form. Lately their seasonal holiday flavor, Christmas morning which contains sweet ice cream with the helping of gingerbread cake and oat crumble. While it's gaining traction, it seems the feel the local crowd favorite is still Thai tea. And similarly to the other locations, they offer intangibles such as a little wash area for the sticky aftermath, plasticware with to-go lids, and a whole fridge of pints for folks like me who simply can't get enough. There are dessert places and ice cream spots all throughout the neighborhood, but I think very few of them have the same elements that milk + sugar brings to the table. Through their non-classic approach to quality flavors, it does trigger nostalgia for love of the Northeast but also comfort in knowing that I can score the same in what I consider home.

We were craving something sweet and stopped by to get some dessert. I was very impressed by how helpful the employee at the counter was. We're were the only people there, but he was very attentive and friendly, giving recommendations when asked. The interior was clean and brightly lit, very appropriate for an ice cream parlor. I picked the coffee flavored ice cream city that never sleeps and WOOH! What a blast of caffeine, which is exactly what I wanted. The texture and flavor were great and refreshing. The portions were also very generous!

Took my uncle to milk + sugar for dessert after dinner. We went to their location in West U, which had plenty of parking. The shop was empty on a Saturday night, such a difference compared to their original locations. The workers let us sample any flavor we wanted before we ordered. My uncle got the happy wife flavor which is sweet cream ice cream with almond pound cake. I got the yum cha and the butter pecan streusel. The butter pecan was made of brown butter and brown sugar ice cream with pecan streusel and the yum cha is made of pandan and chrysanthemum ice cream. I liked both of them. There was a pandan and chrysanthemum flavors were strong and the butter pecan was sweet and rich. They make all of their ice cream in house and all of their flavors are so unique. Their scoops are huge too

***HALLOWEEN SPECIAL: 20% OFF IF YOU COME IN COSTUME*** This is my second time coming to this location, and I'll say I prefer it to the Montrose counterpart. Ordered the hocus pocus, which tastes like the sunflower seeds flavor, with big chunks of brown sugar. The other flavor was the city that never sleeps-- which has a great coffee + chocolate combo. They also informed me you are not limited to tasting samples like at the Montrose location. More parking and space too, relaxing family atmosphere.

For example, with the Turkish delights and ice cream selections, only a few items are labeled. For most of them, you have to guess the flavor or ingredients. When I asked questions, there was a language barrier, and the staff member behind the counter was unable to clearly explain what the items were in English. This can be especially frustrating for customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions. In the U.S., I would expect all flavors and ingredients to be clearly labeled so customers can make informed choices. Even if staff members are not fluent in English, having accurate labels for flavors and ingredients would greatly improve the customer experience. The desserts themselves are excellent, but better product labeling would make the experience much more enjoyable and accessible for everyone.

You're paying for the K-Pop Demon Hunter pop-up aesthetic, the upbeat vibes, the fast service, the themed menu. The desserts? Solid. The Pinky Up Parfait hits. One scoop of cappuccino ice cream comes generous and tasty. Nothing disappoints. But nothing revolutionizes dessert either. This is good execution in service of a limited time experience, not destination-level pastry work. And that's fine. That's exactly what a pop-up should be. The real draw is that everything works together. Vibe, music, service, and desserts that don't let the side down. It feels fun, not gimmicky. That's harder to pull off than you'd think. Bottom line. Pop-ups don't stick around. If the K-Pop theme is your thing and you want solid desserts in a fun environment, go now. If you're just looking for great desserts, permanent spots do it better.

Since we were already in the area after breakfast at TJ's Filipino Cuisine, we finally got the chance to stop by and try their baked goods for ourselves. We arrived early, so the bakery wasn't too busy yet. The bakers were busy prepping more goodies in the back while my cousin and I browsed all the Filipino baked goods we really miss from back home in the Philippines. They even had suman, sapin-sapin, biko, and other kakanin, which was nice to see. I specifically looked for the chicken empanada, and my cousin wanted to try the ube white chocolate chip cookie. We also saw different kinds of siopao and planned to come back later to buy some before heading back to San Antonio. We tried the ube white chocolate chip cookie first, but honestly we weren't totally satisfied. It tasted more like a regular white chocolate chip cookie with purple coloring and didn't really have much ube flavor. I also tried the chicken empanada. My cousin didn't like it because it was sweeter than expected--we were both expecting it to be savory. There seemed to be caramelized sugar in the outside of the pastry, which probably added to the sweetness. I still like it, though it was definitely sweeter than what I'm used to. Red Ribbon's chicken empanada is still my favorite. Later that day before leaving Houston, we came back for the siopao we planned to take home. We finally decided to just buy a couple pieces for ourselves, heat them up in the bakery, and try them fresh. When we saw the price for a four-pack, we were honestly disappointed. It felt expensive for the size. The siopao wasn't huge, and while I like the dough, there wasn't much chicken filling inside. For the portion, taste, and quality, it felt overpriced. Overall, it's probably not worth making another trip back for us. We did enjoy the cassava ube suman, and I like the chicken empanada, but not enough to drive all the way to Houston just for those. If I live nearby, I might come back to try other baked goods, but based on this visit, I'm not sure the rest would impress my palate. I still give them credit for cleanliness and customer service, although we did notice fruit flies on one of the shelves and reported it. The staff was friendly, and the bakery itself was welcoming. At the end of the day, since they're a bakery, the expectation is great-tasting, quality, mouthwatering Filipino breads, pastries ", and kakanin. While some items were enjoyable, overall it just didn't quite live up to the hype for us.
