One great bowl and one great salad plus one perfect glazed doughnut for dessert -- we loved this place. Jealous of people who live near it.

For in fore most: walked in and it here was no one in there and it was SO loud. They were blaring the music so we decided to sit outside. It was to loud that you couldn't even think in there! Food was pretty great ! But alittle pricy and they should make some type of gluten free option for bread. There wasn't many gluten free options. My boyfriend and friend say the chicken sandwich was pretty good. My bowl was average but needed alittle more to it. I added grilled chicken. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while. I was only familiar with the one in Plaza Midwood, but that parking situation is out of control... I just simply refuse.... But I found out about the one in Davidson today. So I decided that today was THE day since I was already near the area. I ordered The Hot Dip and Mac&Cheese... I can take or leave the mac & cheese..... But THIS HOT DIP CHICKEN SANDWICH!!! Why didn't someone tell me sooner!!?! MilkBread is one of those places you don't forget. From their fresh chicken sandwiches, don't forget the fries, nobody makes them like MilkBread. To their salads, fresh fresh fresh, you can add or take out things. Biscuits are so big and slightly dense. I actually buy extra, put them in the freezer. Take them out and micro them for 55 seconds and they taste like they just came out of the oven! My husbands soft spot are the doughnuts. Not too sweet, but just right. Their Cinnies are to die for, we do fight over those! Service is friendly and always helpful. Everyone is happy your there! The building is modern inside with a cool vibe. I got the avocado toast, milk and honey toast and an iced americano. Service was super nice and they got everything correct. Prices were a little more expensive than I would like but for the areas median income it makes sense. The food was delicious, like extremely high quality ingredients and thoughtfully assembled. If your looking for good homemade food with fresh ingredients and your okay with a little higher price tag this place is perfect. Also the store was clean and well decorated even when I brought in my sons mini push trike, there was plenty of room to maneuver. If I come back to Davidson I will for sure stop here! read more

stopped back in again because, well, maybe I was doing it wrong..? this time I asked for a chicken biscuit, coffee, and a donut; what I got was a donut, a cup to fill with coffee to fill my coffee cup (makes more sense in practice than in prose) and a food flag so my sandwich could find me which worked out pretty well because it did. chicken breast was pretty impressive; thickish, lightly breaded, crisp, moist but not fatty. peppered honey or something like it would have helped some (might have been available but nobody offered and I never quite got around to asking) biscuit looked better than it ate but it looked fabulous!! (an infused honey or butter probably would have helped that too but... well, you know the drill) coffee is "fancier" than is my wont and I'm still not a fan of the bread-go-rounds... still not right but a measurably better experience than the first. is three actually a charm or is it just some horrible spotty bauble that folks feel obliged to ogle and comment on favorably?? regardless, I will wait a bit and contemplate my options... read more

Nearly two years after opening and the quality and service have fallen off significantly. I ordered the Little G, mac and cheese, and a lemonade for pickup. The chicken on the Little G was bone dry and had a pink tint to it -- not edible. No utensils were provided for the mac and cheese so also -- not edible since I'm staying in a hotel. The restaurant was basically empty therefore, there is zero excuse. For $24, at minimum, I at least expect to be able to eat the food for which I've paid. This was my first time trying milkbread and I gotta say, I really loved their donuts! They have a unique chewiness to it and I loved the chocolate glaze on top! The texture is much different than krispy kreme or duck donuts. The donut is very bouncy and overall tasted great! The chicken biscuit on the other hand was decent. I wish it included a special sauce in it because the biscuit to chicken ratio was a bit off and tasted dry. Other than that, I would definitely come back here for the donuts! read more

I apologize for trying to justify my review here. Sorry. But... I don't see the attraction to Milk Bread. I only have visited once. It was enough for me...enough for me to say, no big deal. My chicken sandwich was good, but the size of a McDonalds chicken sandwich. We had two "Hot Dip" sandwiches. $11.00 ea. and no sides. Two of these chicken sandwiches and two soft drinks, $30.00. Their biscuits are spectacular. They taste like homemade. I had the sausage and jammy egg biscuit and it was good but I think they should should drop the fanciness of the egg a bit. It's a chilled hard boiled egg cut in half which makes eating it on a biscuit tricky and being chilled is clearly not something people are looking for since the cashier warned me the egg was chilled and asked me if that was OK. If they could do a round fried egg with a jammy yolk, it'd be amazing. read more

The worst, overpriced breakfast I've ever had. $31 for Ice cold "jammy egg" on cold avocado toast smothered in everything bagel seasoning and tepid stale coffee. My husband had a decent buttermilk biscuit with chicken, which saved this review from being 1 star. You order at the counter like a McDonalds then they hand you a cup to get your own coffee, which was clearly not replenished with hot fresh coffee regularly. The register automatically suggests a minimum 18% tip before you've been served anything (which your servers can see) so you go along with it so as not to be embarrassed or have your food messed with. Won't EVER be back, even though it's less than a 5 minute walk from my house. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat! It's such a cute atmosphere, and the food is absolutely amazing. I so far have tried the chicken biscuit and the original chicken sandwich and the chicken tastes so fresh and crispy. Additionally, the doughnuts they have are to die for. My mom is not much of a sweet tooth, but even she loved them because they are not too sweet - they are done perfectly. The lattes and cappuccinos are such a hit as well, and I cant rave about this place enough. Please go here if you are debating, you won't regret it. read more

I really enjoyed my classic chicken sandwich here! The chicken was perfectly cooked, which can be tough to get right. I think next time I will go with the hot dip after taking a bite of my fiancés. Sooooo freaking good! I have been twice now and both times have been fantastic. It's a good thing it's in the same shopping center as my hairstylist because if I had to go more than two months without their chocolate frosted donut I am not sure what would happen. On my second visit, I got the fried chicken biscuit, and it was everything I want out of a breakfast sandwich and more! The biscuit was flaky, the chicken was plump and juicy, and the size was substantial. The oat milk iced latte I got was also very good. The staff is always nice and the restaurant has been very clean both times I have visited. I highly recommend milkbread for a delicious breakfast! Milkbread is new, so I recognize that it can sometimes take awhile for a place to find its mojo - and having said that, I'll definitely be back to try more menu items and see if I can fall in love. Sadly, my first two trips left me a teensy bit heartbroken. The Kindred's have set the bar so high, I can only imagine the expectations I, and others, have when entering their newest concept - an all day cafe - featuring Milkbread donuts, coffee, vino, fried chicken biscuits, grain bowls, and toasts... (plus more). Today we were in for breakfast around 8:30. It was not busy at all and we ordered and were served super quickly. We tried double espresso, the Milkbread donuts, and the grain bowl (crispy rice, jammy egg, almond romesco, avocado & sprouts) which ran about $32, totally fair pricing imho. At the end of the day, nothing was bad, but it wasn't satisfying either. One reason is the dishware (Ive seen other reviews mention this as well so I know it's not me being high maintenance): it's all biodegradable cardboard. I feel like a contradiction because I am so grateful for restaurants that consider their carbon foot print. However, I'm also someone who values the experience of dining out as much as the actual food I'm eating. The experience of eating out of a cardboard bowl and scraping romesco off the sides of what feels like the inside of a shoebox is just not appetizing. I also would love to have had a warm jammy egg on the grain bowl as a contrast in temperatures to everything else that was cold in the dish... I'm not sure cold jammy eggs are my thing. Since I was eating in (not taking my coffee to go) it would've been great to have a ceramic mug for my espresso. Instead I got the dreaded paper cup. It just hits different. The donut with the chocolate glaze was my favorite because the chocolate is really exceptional. However, I can only imagine how much better the donut might have been if it was also warmed up! As I said in the beginning, I'm definitely not gonna rule out milkbread but I left today let down and wishing a couple small things were different to make it as crush worthy as I had hoped for it to be. The Crispy Cauliflower was good but for $8 the portion was ridiculously small and served in a cheap looking cardboard like container. We absolutely love Kindred and LOVE the milk bread. We had some of the donuts during the shutdown, which were yummy so we were really looking forward to this place. It was a let down. I ordered the chicken biscuit and added the pimento cheese. Mine was good, but not great. K ordered the Nutella toast - it was $12 for one slice of bread with some Nutella on it and a little banana. Definitely not worth it. We also ordered a regular and chocolate donut. I asked if they could be warmed up and they said they didn't have a way to do that, which I thought was a bit strange. The donuts were ok, the chocolate covered was the better of the two. As others have mentioned, the menu is super limited and seems to only have chicken as an option and all the eggs are cold (who wants a cold egg on a hot breakfast sandwich?!?) It says it on the menu, but I did hear someone go up and ask about it after their food came out. You do pay a lot and have to bus your own tables. We probably will not go back, which stinks because we were really looking forward to this place opening. read more
