Terrible food and terrible service. Plus dirty. The bartender looked put out that he had to wait on us, and we had to wait forever to get a drink. We sat by the window, maybe it was to far for him to walk. The blonde girl was great, but you can't make a restaurant with one person. The window sill had food all over it, it was gross. Had the lunch special, a Bacon Brie & Basil grilled cheese with Tomato soup. Sandwich was good. Tomato soup came in a tiny bowl, but I didn't finish it because it was a very low quality canned soup that tasted a bit like metal. BJ's in Jantzen Beach has a excellent Tomato soup. If you find something you like at the Mill City Grill it should continue to be good, but I suspect quality will be pretty hit and miss on anything new I might try. read more

After a few visits, this is my experience. The place has a very nice interior. Downstairs is open and kind of loud. Upstairs is more comfortable. Service is hit and miss. Many inexperienced and young servers. Food is mediocre at best. Menu is large, but unfocused and all over the place. They don't seem to have any sort of focus or style. It seems they are trying to please everyone. I think the food could be better if they could find an identity and pare down the menu so that they could execute each dish better. They have pizza, tacos, bar food, pasta, steaks, dinners, sandwiches, wraps, salads, burgers, etc. My head is spinning. Too many items to perfect each one and having an identity crisis. Didn't really care for the food. It was bland and not very good. The service was not good either, we were there and it was empty, but took our servers forever for anything and it was never right. Not impressed :( Went last night (10/10.15) & there was 5 of us. I see someone yelped this place is "Very well decorated",,,, ... What decor? One wall has a large painting that say's "Mill city grill" over a saw blade & the other some Elk horns that were on a wall with some raw boards. The horns & wall looked nice but that was such a small area & needed to be carried out throughout the restaurant.The large painting on the wall made it feel cheap being the main focal point. If they added to the wall, much better.. So Decor, That was it! The noise... LOUD! It was a Saturday night but the sound coming from the bar into the dining room & the wide open space just echoed with noise. It did not help that there is a large TV screen playing a football game & everyone was yelling at that... which is fine IF this was labeled as a "sports" restaurant.The ketchup we got was very vinegar tasting, tried getting our waiter & after 15 min i got up & took another bottle off a table he was cleaning & he STILL didn't acknowledge me. We tried to holler but he had previously told us "I was shooting high powered rifles yesterday so you'll have to yell your order to me because i can't hear" Ready to go, Again We had to STAND UP to get to our server to get our "to go" boxes.. he often walked by but just never even looked our way. VERY poor service. The food was not the greatest. I had the Forest burger & it was perfect but could have had a bit less char broil to it. 2 of us had the "everything bowls" & one was full of mashed potato & the other was full of tater tots & hardly any meat in either.They filled it up with bulk & tossed the tiny pieces of meat on top to look good :( .The "wrap" was mostly lettuce & everything fell out before you could take a bite so they used a fork. Said it was "Ok" tasting, not flavorful. The large salad ordered was great. The homemade potato chips were rock, hard, brown & flavorless while the french fries were awesome! For the 5 of us & 3 soft drinks our bill was $75. NOT bad for what we THOUGHT we were going to be dining at but NOT GOOD for what we got. The atmosphere, food & service was NOT worth that price. Sadly, we will not go back, lesson learned. We had a meeting that was reserved almost two months ahead. When we arrived for our meeting, instead of the room we had been promised we were put in the middle of the dining room. We had reserved for 1:00. We asked about the room but were told that they were setting up for a big party that night and it would be too much trouble to put us in there. We were having a business meeting with gift exchange. Since we had to yell to hear each other we asked for the music to be turned down and had to ask several times. Over all I was ripped off. Beware of hidden fees. The server was new, so there was miscommunication with my order and I was charged extra for things I didn't ask for. I paid $2.75 for a free refill. Side of extra ranch was $.50 cents and I wasn't informed on that but charged. I was given avocado and charged $2.50 for it but didn't even ask for it. And the manager wasn't understanding or cooperative. Not willing to take off charges for things that I didn't ask for. The manager also kept staring at me while I was eating. Overall uncomfortable atmosphere and bad experience. Would never go there again. read more

Hosted an event here and was extremely disappointed in their professionalism and customer service. I also had to contact them several times for help with paperwork that needed to be sent to me. Went for dinner with a group of 11. The atmosphere was nice, modern, with touches of sawmills...lumberjacking...etc. We sat in the bar area upstairs. It took some time to get a server over to take our drink orders, then quite a bit more time to get the drinks back to the table. Should've ordered two at the beginning. A couple appetizers were ordered, which were fine, nothing too special. Dinner arrived, then the salads, which had been sitting over on a tray off to the side and were forgotten about. I had a 'wood fired' pizza which was supposed to have pepperoni, pineapple, and jalapeños on it. There were no pepperoni to speak of, the pineapple was left in cold rings straight from the can, and the entire pizza was cold and doughy in the center. Completely disgusting. I took two bites, two too many. At the end of the meal the server asked if I needed a box. I politely explained the problem and thankfully it was taken off the bill. Looking around the table, everyones food seemed to appear very mediocre, almost hospital cafeteria like. Mashed 'potatoes' were translucent and watery. Nobody was raving. Beer selection was OK, specialty cocktail menu was good. It has so much potential, the menu looks fantastic. I'm hoping they work through all the hiccups. AWKWARD....My friends, and my husband and I go there on special occasions. BUT no longer! We asked the hostess and the waiters (3) for waters when we were seated. We were told our server is James. My guy friend said, oh no, that's the arrogant one. I said, I thought he was nice every time we had him. We asked the hostess for the mac and cheese deep fried balls. The hostess served the appetizer but forgot the 4 plates. She set them down and left so quick that we could not ask for our plates. The waiter James came to our table and asked if we wanted drinks. We said just water please. I told him we did not get any plates with our appetizer and there are 4 of us. I jokingly said we can eat like heathens. ( I gestured we can eat off the same plate.) James left the table abruptly and said "Well I am here to server you!" He quickly left to get the plates. He quickly set the plates down and said, "I AM HERE TO SERVE!" Then he left our table and went to a large table that was there well after us. I heard him tell them what the special was, but I couldn't hear all of it. As the hostess walked by we told her we are ready to order. So she let James know. He came back to our table and looked at my lady friend and said, what do you want to order? she said, " Flat iron, but may I have something besides the garlic mashed potatoes." James said No! you can have your choice of salad dressing! She asked if she could have a baked instead of mashed. He said NO that is only for the Prime Rib! I said, well can she have fries, or sweet potatoes fries, of tots? James said, "No! She can have dressing! So she stopped asking questions then James asked me what I wanted, I asked him what the specials were, and the cost. He blew up on me!!! He said, and I quote, " This is Awkward!!! Would you ladies like a different waiter? I am feeling very awkward and suggest you get another waiter!" I told him. "Well now I feel Awkward. I didn't think anything was wrong till now. Then my guy friend said, "Yes it would be a good idea to have a different waiter. James left the table and a blonde lady came to our table and said she was sorry, that she should have been our waitress. We asked for our bill so we can pay for our appetizer.
