Located on what has become a dead end on Mill Creek Road just before reaching the old Delaware Canal, the inn that shares its name with the road feels like it knows that it is now at the end of the trail, and is depressed about it. While prices are downright cheap for food and drink, the house has a dark and dusty aura. It does have its attractions, with pool table and large rectangular bar with a few primarily domestic beer on tap. Too, it is a smokers tavern, and a haven for those who enjoy socializing with ques and tobacco. For me, a non-smoker, the atmosphere was challenging. The menu is limited, with cheesesteaks, burgers and a few Italian specialties (meatballs galore). Seeing that, I went with their California Burger and fries to get a sample of what they should do well. Well, my hopes exceeded reality. Looking good on the plate with fresh, soft large bun, the puck itself was 8 ounces of previously frozen ground beef, with little flavor beyond what was provided by the cheese and red onions. My request for a medium finish was returned far closer to well done. The half order of fries was plentiful, but with starchy texture and no crispness. Just a disappointing effort. Sitting at the bar, I received pleasant attention from the tender, who was kept busy all night pouring shots, drafts and cracking bottle caps. She moved quickly, and was clearly on top of her game. The cigarettes forced me to depart soon after finishing my meal and Michelob Ultra. It is unlikely there is enough there to make a return visit.

Great cheesesteak & fries, and great beer on draft. Can't ask for more. Just added more pool tables too!

The crowd varied from some regulars at the bar to a mix of couples, friends and families in the seating area. I took my son twice for late Monday dinners and found only a few tables occupied. Our server on both visits was a kind and welcoming woman who was helpful with the menu. Their menu covers all of the bases - apps, soups, salads, sandwiches and suppers. They have specials posted on a whiteboard with a small tap list (several beers a few of which are craft). I had fresh Fiddlehead IPA on tap both times. For my first time I ordered the Soprano - Prosciutto, Spicy Capicola, Genoa Salami, Sharp Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato and Onion. Finished with Olive Oil, Vinegar and a Dash of Italian Seasoning. $11 They give a choice of seeded or non and of course I went seeded. I would say it's close to a clone of Mazzanti's classic Italian. I really enjoyed it and would order it again. The home made chips that came with it were fresh and crispy. Second go around I had The "Tip" Sandwich - Seasoned Petite Tenderloin Tips, Sautéed Onion & Mushrooms, American Cheese, Garlic Stick Bread. $14 Delicious portions of tender beef tip, a thick layer of American cheese, and a perfect balance of sautéed onion and mushroom mixed in on that crispy seeded roll made my night . Every bite was on point. My son ordered a cheese burger and said it was very good. He could only eat half and was stuffed. I would certainly return if in the area. My kid was happy we got to relax, chat and watched some college basketball. It's not the most spacious or brightly lit place, but those two sandwiches were great! Thanks guys!!

They can hold 20-500 people for private events according to their website. The inside is dark and could use a bit of a refresh, but I wouldn't say it's close to the level of dive. It's certainly on the larger side compared to most bars in the area. The staff has always been nice, but service can get slow when the crowd size grows. Just the nature of things. Food wise the menu has a typical mix of pub grub - apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and several entrees. A friend was eating their jumbo Buffalo Shrimp off the starter menu and raved about them. I stuck to a Cheesesteak which was average but a deal at $9.50 -- the chopped steak was decent, cheese was good just needed a bit more. Hot peppers gave it some kick and the long roll was fresh. Their beer menu has around a dozen beers on tap. They dabble in more mainstream big beer/craft beer like your Goose Island IPA's/Lagunitas IPA, but do have a decent show of locals like Yards, Victory, Troegs and Weyerbacher. Bourbon wise I had a Knob Creek neat which was average price wise. The pour was on the generous side. Each time I've been here the crowds have been friendly and having a good time. The band we listened to was great and the sound was crisp. Five Four is a family friendly grill during the day and a fun place for adults later at night. Thanks guys!

A couple weeks ago she had the nerve to comment on my face in front of the entire table. She claimed that I "always give her dirty looks" and "always look so angry when I'm here". I was stunned and so embarrassed. For one, I don't know her personally, we have never had a conversation outside of her taking my order and quite frankly it's none of her business how my face looks anyway. Second of all how embarrassing is it to be called out in front of a bunch of people like that? I couldn't believe the words that came out of her mouth. Before I left I politely told her I didn't appreciate her calling me out like that and she got very defensive. Not an apology from her, she didn't care one bit. She started arguing with me and acting like I was overreacting and like she didn't do anything wrong. She should take a look at herself in the mirror and think twice before she speaks. I'll never step foot into this bar again.

The guy working behind the counter was pleasant and knowledgeable about their coffee offering which comes from Homestead Coffee Roasters of Upper Black Eddy. Their drink menu consists of hot/cold coffee, tea, lattes, and espresso based drinks. I tried the drip coffee and would highly recommend it. It is a private label version of Homesteads Darkness - dark & bold with notes of rich, smokey chocolate. I enjoyed the dark roast, rich chocolate and its bold full body. The cortado and espresso I had were ok. I found them to be a little too bitter, but there was a strong roasted earthiness flavor that I liked. On a return trip I'll have to try their Vietnamese coffee. Food wise I've had the sausage egg and cheese on a bagel and a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel. They are simple and decent sized with simple folded egg patties and cheddar cheese on average bagels. The sausage had a little spicy kick and the bacon was pretty tasty (NOTE: they do offer pork roll as an option). I was given some hot sauce packets to go. You can also get sandwiches on a croissant. The rest of the menu is simple - toasts, sandwiches, salads, some items for the kids. They do sell their private label coffee beans in retail bags and will grind them for you. I'll stop in again if I'm in the area. The coffee and ambiance is great, the food is ok to good, service great and the idea of a non profit that supports community is commendable. Thanks!!

Clean and bright with wall decor to bring you into their tropical milieu, by which I mean, lots of beachy pastels. So, first I ordered my liquids - the Açaí Berry Blast (açaí, pomegranate, banana, blueberries, strawberries) in a "balanced fusion" heavy blender production. Yup. Very berry it was, and quite tasty, if a bit too frosty (those ice crystals were not ideal). Then, I looked to the breakfast options and chose a new item, the Cali Breakfast Flatbread (grilled chicken, scrambled eggs, cheese, smashed avocado, chipotle mayo, on toasted flatbread). It was a heavy load and something of a mess due to squeezage by the time I opened the wrapped folded flatbread at the office. They really should pack a spoon or shovel with this baby to pick up and consume all that outside the foldwich. I found the flatbread to be more a fat tortilla than a true crisp flatbread. They really need to work on it to enhance the texture and taste to be more than a vehicle to hold the contents. The overall flavor and texture was complex with all the ingredients, which was enjoyable but a tad messy. I can live without the chipotle mayo, which offered a sour element to the overall freshness of the rest. $11.98 for this combo, which was reasonable by weight, but perhaps in need of reimagining to address the iciness of the smoothie and the messiness of the flatbread. 3.5 STARS
