My family's experience at University Post Acute has been extremely concerning…read more My grandmother is a high-risk resident with impaired orientation, hearing impairment, dependence for transfers, inability to safely toilet independently, and known fall risk. Following a fall at the facility, the incident initially appeared to be downplayed and we were told she was only being sent to the ER "as a precaution" because she was a new resident. We were later informed that a male CNA reportedly provided her "privacy" because he was male. In my opinion, this demonstrated a serious lack of critical thinking and judgment given that my grandmother is not oriented, unaware of her surroundings, requires transfers, wears diapers, and is not safe to be left unattended. Despite visible bruising and ongoing pain, additional imaging was not immediately pursued. Days later, we were informed that she suffered a fractured clavicle. What has been most upsetting is the lack of proactive communication, delayed reassessment despite continued pain, and the fact that family members have had to continuously push for further evaluation and answers. I have repeatedly requested reassessment, pain management, and communication from leadership, including the Director of Nursing. Families place trust in skilled nursing facilities to protect vulnerable residents and respond appropriately when injuries occur. I hope the facility takes these concerns seriously and improves resident safety, communication, accountability, and staff judgment moving forward.

They got her to walk again after her fall last January she stayed til March The staff did their best but was under staffed at times it took awhile to answer the call button. My mom said she got tired of waiting and used her wheelchair to get to the toilet. The girls never came to help some of the time. It was better than some places I've seen and worked in. The office staff was accommodating when I called with concerns Overall I would recommend them

From the very beginning, she treated our family member who received subacute care not just as a patient, but as a person -- with dignity, patience, and genuine kindness. I've had enough...This place is a joke. It's been several months of nonstop bull. There are some…read morestaff members who are great like the two ladies I've met at the front desk. The PT staff is great but the nurses/cnas leave much to be desired. There is maybe a third of the staff that's great and on it but the others need to be held accountable for their actions. Weekend and night staff will leave patients sitting in their own urine or feces for long periods of time. The social worker onsite is rude and only professional in front of other people. She's very passive aggressive with comments. They come and take stuff out of patients closets and give it to other patients to use twice I've had to retrieve my family members jacket that has their name on it from another patient or the staff will use the patients personal items and steal their personal drinks and drink them. When the upper management leaves on the weekend and at night the staff gets really loud shouting to each other and laughing up and down the halls when patients are sleeping. Counted several times over the last several months where they leave patient lights on and don't respond for close to 30-40 minutes. The response given to me was they are all on break.(everytime?) it's not just been the one night or day. Wonder how many patients have had medical emergencies that they don't address right away. They feed diabetic patients nothing but sugar when their restrictions/preferences are listed at least from what I was told from other patient's family members and from my own observations, are they trying to send them back to the ER. Or the patient whose daughter told me has diverticulitis and they feed her items that can cause flare ups. The cnas come and take pull ups and wipes from other patients because according to them there is not enough supplies. They do this while in the middle of cleaning others up. That's a nice way to cause cross contamination and cause other patients to develop rashes/possibly catch diseases. I'm sure the CDC, OSHA and the state would have a field day. I'll be sure to be filing a concern with the state.

My first experience in a facility felt cold and empty. I walked into the lounge here at the home in Redlands and that was completely different; it felt warm, people were enjoying games, some were cracking jokes at my youth. Several of the men and women came up to me to tell me they appreciated the facility and asked about my own family. I received what felt like a VIP tour as well. It was great to see the layout, I got a sense of the security knowing that staff were always on hand to assist and they knew everyone not only by name but by their personalities. Facility wise, the layout is a big loop. The residents were primarily on the west (I think) side and the maintenance, administration, and cleaning departments on the other. New renovations stood out and felt a lot of new updates to equipment, rooms, walls, floors, even the lighting had been improved. I got to see several rooms; this place has a lot of private rooms! The last facility I toured felt like a military base. Besides meeting the residents I also had a nice experience seeing the therapy rooms. My wife is a speech therapist and I could appreciate a facility that provides quality therapy. The physical therapy space is large and several residents were receiving one on one treatment when we passed. My prior experience with facilities had me believing that senior care was diminishing. Touring is not how you want to spend a few hours on a saturday, but after the cold and empty feeling I had remembered my expectations were low. This facility is not that way. I think in time this facility will continue to renovate and everything will look better and better. I recommend you take a tour, learn everything there is to know, and do this at several facilities so you have a better idea of what I'm talking about. My 94 year old grandmother is picky but I believe she would thrive in a place like this.
