Pretty average coffee shop in downtown Millbrae. Nice space, but the indifferent and uninterested staff make it not any better than Starbucks or Peet's. Ordered an Americano after waiting an exceptionally long time for being first in line. Came in about 2X the reasonable amount of time in a paper cup even though I was sitting at a table. Turns out they're out of ceramic cups when the place Is half empty. Also no artificial sweetener options, unlabeled bottles. Feels like maybe we just stepped into somebody's kitchen and they were sort of unprepared for actual customers to come in. Weird. read more

I was so excited to stroll by a new café that just opened up in little downtown Millbrae! I believe they took over a Shiseido cosmetic store which never seemed to have customers! Currently in its soft opening phase, Millie Café serves Ritual coffee and will soon be able to serve in house pastries as well. I loved my Matcha latte which was made strong and sweetened with honey (you can also request for simple syrup as a sweetener). I asked for less sweet and it was exactly that. Noah, the barista, was awesome and super nice! Aesthetic is modern and bright. No real tables, just basic counter seats that run against the walls. Would be nice if the seats were more comfortable. Perhaps they intended the cafe to be more to-go rather than sit-in for an extended period of time. Regardless, it's a breath of fresh air to have a real cafe in Millbrae outside of Starbucks and Peet's. Can't wait to return and try more drink selections as well as their in-house made pastries soon! read more

Love the location and aesthetic. It's got a great city feel. I agree with other reviews that the drinks are just OK. They are like drinks people can make at home. If I'm going to pay for a drink out, I am usually expecting something better than I can make myself. With a place that looks like this, I was expecting drinks at the same level of quality you'd get at boutiquey places in the city or like Kaizen coffee in San Mateo. My coffee was fantastic- the espresso was so smooth I almost wondered if it even had coffee. It was definitely strong! My croissant was tasty but hard and old, and at $5 I expected a better result. I could've had it warmed but it wasn't offered to me, so I figured it was still fresh. The interior is light and bright, with the front door left open to let fresh air in! I liked it! It's a new cafe that opened in Millbrae and I wish it had been here when I first moved to the area. My friend and I both ordered specialty lattes. Fancy coffee shop here we come! Been watching them work on this coffee shop for awhile now, so I'm glad it's finally finished. Parking can be tricky sometimes. Sometimes there are plenty or spaces, and other times we're circling the block for ages. Okay, service is a bit dodgy. Stood there for a long while with NO ONE in line in front or in back of me for a long time. Plenty of empty tables. Their bumble bee drink with orange juice and caramel is a bit weird and no the orange juice isn't freshly squeezed. Prices are a bit steep considering the competition from Peets and Starbucks near by. Their matcha latte was okay. Nothing outstanding, but a really neat looking clean coffee shop for sure. read more

They use ritual coffee beans and usually it's pretty good but not in this case. I could barely taste the espresso. You can barely taste the matcha in the matcha latte. They used one scoop of matcha only. They do whisk it, but probably for 5 seconds or so. You can tell from the color of the powder that it's not great. Overall, not a place we will revisit. read more

The cutest latte art ever! So excited to try out this new cafe in our neighborhood and it didn't disappoint. Good service, high quality coffee. My only feedback is all of the surfaces here are hard so it creates a very loud echo from customer conversations and is difficult to get some work or studying done unless you have excellent noise canceling headphones. read more

Came here 15 min after it opened since I worked nearby. It wasn't busy yet so street parking was fairly easy to find. The place is small with few tables and some stools. There was one employee working at the time and I did see a sign that they are hiring if anyone is in need of a job. I've never seen a matcha coconut latte before, so of course I had to order it with less ice and oat milk. At first it was weird but the after taste was unexpectedly good! For those that like coconut, you should give this a try. Definitely need to try more drinks to give a better review but that's all I have for now. They also had a 2 different croissant. Both drinks were on the bitter side and are a bit smaller than expected. I think they could probably improve on the taste a bit, and hopefully they're still working out some kinks. There were lots of open seating on a late Sunday morning with plenty of natural light. The baristas were very friendly. It's a super cute coffee shop in the heart of Millbrae. Stumbled upon this place while walking around the Millbrae farmers market! I loved the cute shop - super aesthetic with their interior design and wall of coffee beans. I visited while they're still under a soft opening, getting used to serving customers and a feel for the space. The staff was nice and offered good recommendations. I ended up getting an iced coconut latte which was tasty. I loved the flavors of the coconut which made it creamy and sweet. However, I did notice clumps of powder so I wish they had dissolved the coconut powder prior to mixing it in. Hopefully something they can improve on or consider for later! We loved our experience at Milli Cafe today. For one thing it's dog friendly and to me that is the most important thing besides good coffee. The second thing is that the ambience was so cool and hip. The people that work there are so nice. I think they could have better pastries, but we did like what we got. The blueberry scone was delicious. The chocolate chip cookie was OK but alittle bit dried out and the pastry it was like a crisscross croissant with like a cheese and leek inside was delicious. We got a black coffee and the holiday special s'more with roasted marshmallow. The roasted marshmallow was kind of pathetic cause they only gave you three or four and they were super tiny and you could barely see the roast marked, but it was still really fun. By the time I got home the marshmallows had dissolved leaving a phone on the top, but it tasted delicious. I know I seem like I'm complaining, but I actually really did like the place. The parking is horrendous. That's not the café's fault. The café is on the corner and it's just so pretty. I highly recommend it. read more

(This review is not about the employee, young man was working his butt off) Wednesday morning 8:30AM only one employee working the cashier AND making coffee. A cup of coffee took 20 minutes to serve (from the time I walked in)!! It is a weekday morning people have things to do places to go. Management don't be cheap hire more people. The restroom remodel was DIY with cheap non-commercial grade parts (handle broke in this grand open business), the sealant application was worse than my child's school project. Toilet paper and hand soap were not refilled due to under staffing. And the exterior windows were also DIY with clear Acrylic plastic, this place will be flooded next time a heavy rain storm hits. Property value in Millbrae ranges between $2 to $3 million, you'd think your customers might have some standards with the quality their coffee shops? My vanilla mocha also didn't taste like vanilla, but at this point that is the least of my concerns. Owner is cheap and doesn't deserve high value customers. read more

The owner has reached out about my review and wanted to seek ways to make improvements. I've modified a bit of my review, but am still giving honest thoughts. My rating is solely based on the Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk. I would've given a 1 star but decided not to because this doesn't define the other drinks. To start, the matcha latte costs $7, and additional $1 for oat milk. The barista whisks the matcha while she is taking orders from other customers, so it really wasn't consistently whisked well. Additionally, I found the way they added water to be not very exact as there are no measurements, but that is coming my perspective of consistency of how matcha should be made. As for the taste, it mostly just tasted like oat milk and I could not taste the matcha. I think $8 was too much for this matcha and I would not recommend the matcha, unless you enjoy matcha that is very subtle. Other than that, on a Sunday afternoon, there were just a couple of groups so there was still seating available if you're hanging out or working. read more

The store is so cute I love the setup very spacious. The service was fast and very friendly. Everything looked so good and I wanted to try the black latte and rose latte but I got the cinnamon brown sugar latte. Went to Milli Cafe for the first time with my sister after breakfast on Wednesday for some much needed coffee. This place is a tiny but super cute modern spot to sit and hangout. We came in around 10:30am and all the seats were taken. I wasn't worried about that since we were ordering to go but it was nice to see this place busy and thriving. I originally wanted a latte but saw that they offered match and wanted to try. Both my sister and I ended up ordering an iced matcha w/oatmilk. The matcha wasn't super overpowering and it wasn't overly sweet either. I think I prefer my matcha just a tad bit sweeter but overall it was really good. TLDR; Place looks nice and clean, friendly staff, drinks have much room for improvement, too much milk. Looks like they spent most of their time perfecting the aesthetics of the shop instead of their drinks. I like my coffee strong, I ordered a large iced brown sugar latte and it was a full cup of milk and ice with a splash of coffee. The coffee is not strong enough, I would assume a large size would mean at least a double shot espresso, but it looks like you just get extra milk and ice, diluting the coffee. Will return to try the matcha next time, I hope it is a strong tasting matcha. I did see them whisk the matcha per order, using the traditional method so that is a good sign. While I was there I saw a customer throw out half her cup of an iced matcha latte, will return to try that next time before I speak more about it. Attached is a photo of my iced brown sugar latte, as you can tell by the lighten color it is majority milk.
