Everything was cooked perfectly. Ordered the Belgian Waffle, that was big crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Ordered the corned beef hash which came with eggs cooked to order, preferred toast and hash browns. Corned beef hash was shredded just right and was well seasoned. Hash browns...OMG so good; crisped on the outside and soft inside. Noise level is about 7 out of 10 but it is to be expected for this type of cafe. Service was excellent and place is very clean! Brothers Cafe is a much-needed addition to downtown Millbrae's breakfast and brunch scene. We used to frequent their Laurelwood location in San Mateo, and it was always packed, so I was thrilled when they opened a location in Millbrae. While it can get busy during peak hours, the restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, so the wait is usually manageable. The food is consistently good, and we've enjoyed everything we've tried. My favorites are the Benedicts--especially the Gilroy Benedict--and the classic two-egg breakfast. We also like to add an order of pancakes for the kids. Brothers Cafe is pretty solid for breakfast. The food is well made. I ordered the Standard Scramble, which is an omelet with protein and topped with sliced avocado. Everything was flavorful, even the hash browns. I like it when even the sides aren't neglected and are done well. My plus one ordered the pork chop and was also very happy with it. I took a couple of bites, and it was indeed flavorful and tender despite being thick. Also, their fruit juices are fresh and not artificial. Be warned, though: the food is a little slow to come out. I guess because they make everything fresh, it takes some time for the dishes to be prepared. It works fine for me, but it's something to keep in mind if you're in a hurry. read more

Didn't know that this little cafe was hidden behind the Trader Joe's and Living Spaces plaza even though I've been here a million times. They have a similar set up to Crepevine where you order and pay before finding your seats. Their menus on the wall look similar too! I am not a fan of tipping before you even get your food, especially because if you want a drink or refill, you do have to get up and pay again... The food itself was good, portions are huge! It will definitely put you in a food coma for the rest of the day haha. We ordered the biscuits and gravy with sunny side up. I wish there was more gravy on the biscuit as it was just the top layer that had gravy. The eggs do have a heavy butter after taste. The chicken and waffles was my favorite. It's pretty much half a chicken, and fried well. All pieces were juicy and I love that they give you gravy on the side in a cup! Too bad they didn't give that for the biscuits. Waffle was light and fluffy. We couldn't finish the chicken so there was a little to take home. The mimosas were with freshly squeezed orange juice which was nice. It was a bummer when we went to get our second drinks the cashier told us we should have just gotten the mimosa kit. We didn't know that was a big bottle with OJ...but too late. This was the worst customer service I've ever experienced. The lady refused to provide me with a receipt. She was extremely rude and unprofessional and told I would have to wait she service everyone else who came in after me. I asked for her name and she told me it was none of my business. Went here yesterday for a friend reunion! Such a nice cafe to eat at. You walk in and you look at the menu that's on the wall or look at the handout! I like that there's options it's very accessible and accommodating! I ordered the chicken club with no tomatoes and I asked if I can have pickles with it instead! They were able to make the adjustments which was very great! After that they give you a number and you sit down at the table. There's choice of table or a booth. It's a very spacious room. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their food and the atmosphere despite the weather pouring. It also gave it a very cozy vibe too. Came here on a Sunday around noon time. You order first and then sit down. There was a line when we arrived but the line moved relatively quick. The person at the register was very efficient at taking orders and directing us to where there are available seats. After we ordered, they gave us a number, which we took with us to our table. I ordered the Gilroy Benedict, which included english muffin, poached eggs, homemade hollandaise, creamed spinach, artichokes, and hash brown. This was a very hearty and heavy meal. Nonetheless, it was delicious. I love the spinach and hollandaise sauce. It would've been the perfect dish if the hash brown was replaced by crispy potatoes. The hash brown was not so bad, though. They usually have good breakfast, but their lunch is way off. I ordered a cheesesteak, but it was just a chopped up burger patty. They need to take this off the menu if this is how it's prepared. Or if they were out of sliced steak they need to let the customer know. This isn't something that you can serve. Two stars for the actual meal. Edit: they are trying to convince me I'm wrong. I'm not. I'm not asking anything out of this, but don't try to defend something when you weren't there yourself. Edit 2: Brother's response is disappointing. I believe 100% that Brother's *can* make an appropriate cheesesteak. But that doesn't address that there was a failure of quality control in my specific instance (and maybe others). Showing how cheesesteaks are supposed to be made is an irrelevant gesture. As for "educating" me and my "running away", that's just antagonistic and I won't address that. As for the food itself deep char marks and identifiable chunks of meat in the photo are self explanatory that it's not "thinly sliced ribeye" (though I wish I took more and better photos). I'm really surprised that my raising this became an issue. Maybe, just maybe, there's a quality control issue at the Millbrae location. I'm not even the only person who wrote a negative review on that day. But look, I'm not in a position to tell you how to run your business. Never disappointed at any of the Brother's Cafe location's. Have been here several times at Millbrae, and it was good. The food presention was excellent. Inside is well lit, spacious, and clean. You order first, then you're given a number and can choose to sit where you want. The menu is quite vast with a lot of different options to pick from. We ordered Huevos Rancheros and St. Patty's (corned beef hash) Benedict. Both dishes were tasty. I like that the corned beef hash was house made and it was delicious. For me, the unexpected star of the dish was the hash browns that were crisped to perfection!! These might've been the best hash browns I've ever had. Servers were friendly and refilled our water. I choose the Millbrae location since there is a parking lot (they're in a small mall), she was at the Grand Avenue location, which does not have a private parking lot, so came over to the Millbrae one. Pros- very friendly and helpful staff. The cafe is simple and clean, the bathroom had a clean scent to it, which I noticed as I opened the door to wash my hands. Food was good, I had 'The Standard,' with an addition of spinach. It was big, ate about 1/2 of it. My friend had the Santorini (healthier!) , and we split 1/2 of a kids French toast, that was very tasty! Cons- can't think of any. Stopped for a quick breakfast before our flight based on good Yelp reviews. Food was OK There are no prices on the menu so it's pretty much a guess what the bill will be. You prepay when you order and they ask for tip before the service is complete. Tip is supposed to be based on level of service, which in today's case was not that good but we tipped before so it is what it is. Place is clean and ambiance is pleasant. You order, pay first and then you will seated by their staff. Cafe itself is very bright and sunny. We ordered Mediterranean plate, Bloody Mary and buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich. My grilled chicken in the plate was so delicious that before I could say something, my husband was raving about his buttermilk chicken sandwich. Food is fresh and hot. We had to wait for it to cool it down to take first bite. Mediterranean plate has marinated chicken breast, cilantro-jalapeno humus, tzatziki and tabouli with pita bread. Delicious. Menu says Chicken sandwich is homemade and it is homemade for sure. Best we ever had. Cooked with spicy batter. Has mayo, Dijon mustard and some pickles. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing due to poor customer service and inconsistency with the menu. First, employees should be trained to be courteous and welcoming. The cashier was rude and dismissive--she waved the table number card at us and rushed us to order. If it appeared we weren't ready, a simple and polite question about whether we needed help with the menu would have gone a long way instead of the hostile attitude. Second, all menus should be updated and consistent. The large overhead menu listed the plantains with eggs as coming with toast, while the laminated counter menu did not. This discrepancy was never acknowledged. Instead, the cashier repeatedly insisted the dish did not include toast, even as I was clearly referencing the overhead menu. The lack of consistency and unwillingness to clarify was frustrating. Lastly, this happened during brunch hours--no one wants to be met with that kind of energy in the morning. The food itself was decent, and the hash browns were crispy, but the overall experience means I wouldn't go out of my way to return for brunch. read more
