It's best to visit on a sunny day when the restaurant's patio is in high demand. Rustic wood and pastel blue motifs create a simple, clean vibe. Also best to start with a mocktail, which are much more flavorful and nicely presented here than others I've had. My Capri Spritz had citrus, berries, and a light touch of caffeine. Service here is a bit slow. Come here with friends or family who are good conversationalists. The wait staff is generally friendly, though, and makes good menu recommendations. The East Coast oysters are of impeccable quality. They're served with lemon slices, two sauces and an excessively large ramekin of horseradish. The cocktail sauce is my favorite by far. I could go on for paragraphs praising the exceptional variety and creativity of this menu. From innovative tacos and quesadillas to elevated salads and sandwiches, there is truly something here for everyone. So naturally, I swallowed my common sense and ordered the $27 "Haulover" salad. The dish came topped with rare, seared tuna. The seafood was prepared nicely; I had to admire how the outside of my fillet was crispy and ever-so-slightly charred while the inside remained pink. The green beans, capers, cherry tomatoes, and dijon vinaigrette made great complements to the protein, with capers and fingerling potatoes adding still more depth of flavor. I wasn't a fan of the oil cured black olives, which were offputtingly bitter. The "Lobb" salad is no less luxurious. Lobster meat touched with butter is tossed with mixed greens, avocado, more potatoes, and a tasteful white balsamic vinaigrette. These dishes are not only delicious, but pretty healthy as well. If you're in the mood for a splurge, it's hard to do better than Millie's in the Spring Valley neighborhood. Michelin is right to recommend it. Last night my husband, daughter and I had dinner.The clam chowder soup was excellent,the $18cornchip and salsa trio is expensive for what it is but very good salsa has a punch of lime. Our meals came out and looked great but...My daughter and I shared the scallop taco and shrimp. When she looked at the scallop taco she asked me why it looked wet!? Millie's has been on my list for quite some time as I've read some great reviews on the brunch. I called and made a reservation in advance for a group of five. On day of, we were actually running quite early so I called to inform the restaurant and the hostess was so friendly and accommodating despite running 20 minutes ahead. The restaurant had quite a bit of outdoor space which would be so enjoyable in warm weather. Given this was a dreary, threatening-rain day, we sat at a large booth inside. The restaurant has a nice feel and the kitchen is open to the dining room. You get a coastal New England feel but also don't feel confined to seafood! We were a little shocked to see they didn't have a brunch drink menu, but the drink menu did have several options (no mimosas tho) to choose from including some that are mainly available in summer -froze and frozen drinks. For drinks, I had the blueberry lemonade served in a cute mason jar. All the cocktails were served in the jars except for the wine. The coffee was a large pour in a glass mug - very artsy! For my meal, I settled on the roasted turkey hash and fried eggs. The serving is quite large!! Two eggs, an English muffin halved, and a plentiful serving of the turkey hash. The food was decent- I tried the chicken sandwich (I forget the menu name of the dish) and it was solid. Comes on a brioche bun and is topped with sweet pickles. The side cucumber salad was ok, although I'll admit I'm not huge on cucumbers to start. Biscuits were pretty incredible though. They're not the typical flaky biscuits you might find elsewhere but rather fluffy and rich. The soft butter and jam were perfect additions. Both family friendly, and great for a drink/date Millie's manages to straddle both demographics, and does it well. Tried the scallop tacos, they have quite a wide variety. Well the tacos are a little pricey, I would guess it's what's in each of them that runs up the cost. Nonetheless, it ends up being a pretty filling meal. Though I have been to Millie's several times before, my most recent visit is worth a posting. For the most part, Millie's has grown in popularity but declined in service excellence. I invited a friend who had not been and was embarrassed by the lack of quality in everything else from timeliness to actual order accuracy. Our original server left without letting us know, and we had to flag down another server on our own. The food took ages to come out and when I ordered a drink I got something different. Apparently the menus were not accurate to what is actually in stock! It wasn't until I was drinking the concoction that I learned it wasn't what I ordered! Thank goodness I was not allergic to the ingredients. There really is no excuse. I'm terribly disappointed and would recommend foodies steer clear until more attention is paid to customer service, accuracy and overall communication. We asked for our food to be packaged instead of eating it there. If it were not for Nikki, who came to our rescue with good service, the entire experience would have been a waste of my Friday afternoon. I got Smith Point which is a grilled shrimp taco with corn tortillas, tomato & sweet corn salad, avocado, cilantro and chili ranch dressing. It also came with a side of cold rice salad. There were about three jumbo shrimp in each taco and I was full after one. They did get soggy pretty fast and began to break apart so you definitely have to hurry to eat them. From a portion perspective there was a decent amount of claw meat, but it had me just wishing I got a lobster roll or something. Back again at Millie's and this time it is in the Fall Season. The table outside are empty. The inside is packed we with lots of people. This time we actually had to wait for table. Our hostess with the mostist was a charming young lady. She had one of the best smiles I have seen this year. The bar tenders were pretty cool too. Upon getting our table, the food options were of one for me. I once again with the chicken quesadilla called The 40th Pole. This time around I asked for extra grilled onions with blue cheese. This turned out to make the chicken quesadilla extremely tasty. I truly recommend trying this little add-on. It was the first time in a long time I had had blue cheese... okay I had blue cheese several days before and the flavor was still in my mind. Subconsciously, my mind remembered this wonderful taste and told me to ask for it again.... Some time near the end of the meal the manager of the store or owner of the restaurant asked us if everything was as alright. The food was excellent, but what stood out for me was the manager's green shirt. Maybe the shirt stood out fifty me because emerald green has strong mean for my characters in my novels,....but I digress... I like Millie's and will enjoy coming back there again. I found this restaurant on yelp while searching for new places to try and it appeared to be a nice place. Based on the photos it had great outside seating and appeared to have a nice vibe. My friend and I decided to try it out. We went on a Saturday, so we had a little wait to be seated outside, but that was to be expected as there was a pretty large crowd in the restaurant. After being seated at the furthest end of the patio area, our waitress came. She was pleasant and took our drink an appetizer order. The appetizer and drinks came out to our table fairly fast. She later took our entree order-2 orders of the Crab Fried Rice-Coconut and lemongrass rice with lump crab, mango, pineapple, bean sprouts, macadamia nuts, and fried egg with a side of lime chili sauce. Sounds delicious, huh! Everything appeared to be going smoothly, no hiccups until we received our food. Both my friend and I looked at the dish and had everything mentioned in the description except for the lump crab meat. No exaggeration, there was ONLY rice and the other listed ingredients. We spoke with our waitress, and she stated that she would talk to the kitchen. She comes back with a bowl of MINCED, GRAY crab meat for us to share and mix into our rice. She additionally stated that my friend and I would not be charged for the bowl of crab substance as if we had asked for extra crab meat, when we never received any crab in our dish at all. This was unacceptable as we felt the effort to remedy the situation was not met. Firstly, the dish should have had ALL of the ingredients as listed on the menu. Secondly, the effort should have been made to make a new dish with all of the ingredients, not bring out minced crab meat (instead of lump) and expect us to mix it into our dish. Thirdly, there was no acknowledgement from the manager concerning the issue as he walked right by our table. At this point we decided to chock it up as a loss and asked our waitress to please bring us our check. When she brought our check, she informed us that we would not be charged for the dishes. Although appreciated, this did not satisfy the poor service that we received at Millies. I do want to say however, the one person who put forth an effort was our waitress, Alondra (sp). When the weather is nice, the patio is a great place to eat and they roll up the walls of the bar area to give it an outdoor feel. The Steps Beach lobster quesadilla, Brant Point shrimp and mango salsa quesadilla, and spicy margarita are stand out favorites. We lived in AU Park for over 7 years. We were one of the first customs @ Millie's and both service and food were outstanding. We continued going regularly until we moved to MtP. We were there last Sunday at 2:30 pm with my entire family. We had previously called and informed the host that we were a party of 9 plus a high chair. They said they could accommodate us. When we arrived (5 of us) we were sat inside the big tent outside. A few minutes later, the rest of our party arrived. It was obvious the 9 of us would not fit at the same table. Side note, we had previously been there pre-COVID and they were able to accommodate ALL OF US inside the restaurant by putting some tables together. Anyway, we wanted to put two of the picnic tables side by side so we could all fit comfortably. The outside area was near EMPTY but for a group that was getting ready to leave. As soon as we started moving the tables, two pimple-faced kids came out and told us that we weren't allowed to do this. Their explanation wasn't sound considering the entire tent at that time was empty. I told them that a few years back we had dined there and the staff was able to accommodate us. One of the kids started arguing how that wasn't possible... (I have photos of the event!) Anyway, long story short, what the heck happened to management at this place? Needless to say, the food was great and the server was very attentive but the entire exchange with the Poindexter twins soured the entire afternoon. On a side note, I have dined at La Piquette, a restaurant a mile away the size of Millie's bathroom, and they have been able to sit 10 of us at the same table without any issue! I had never been to Millie's Spring Valley even though it is located near one of my work locations until a supervisor of mine asked us to join her for a work meeting. It was a beautiful day and I couldn't be in the office anymore so I got there early. Fortunately, they have a great happy hour and some awesome benches to sit on outside. The benches were perfect as I sat with my kindle and my drink to relax a bit, but didn't take up a table that someone else might have wanted to eat at. Once the others arrived, I joined everyone inside. There were several different items ordered. I very much enjoyed my lobster roll and felt it was very reasonably priced.
