There was a live voice, not a recording asking me 1) which location I wanted, 2) would I hold because they were helping other customers, and 3), to please leave a voice mail and they could call back later. No! The guy on the other end said they had 6-inch round cakes in their case - perfect size for our celebration. It took about 30 minutes to get there and I managed to park in front of their door (a miracle in itself!). I chose a mango mousse cake - it was gorgeous, and perfect for an impromptu birthday celebration. Note: the finished cake is more like 8+ inches in diameter. I think it is the base of the cake they measure from. Once you add on the whipped cream and lady fingers, you have a gorgeous and substantial cake. Thank you so much, our friend was very happy!

He seemed a bit standoffish I didn't know what I wanted. They had so many desserts, pastries, and even savory pastries to choose from. It all looked delicious. I opted for the small tarts so I can make a little sampler of my own. Tarts were good, but the crust was just okay.

Bagatelle du Roi ($3.75) - it's super rich and dense, definitely fudgy. Too sweet for me. It's like a brownie cookie.

The dishes we ordered were thoughtfully conceived, well-prepared, fresh, and delicious. For dessert, we shared the flan, which featured some special touches and was out of this world. Most recently I finally was able to give them a try. So glad we did! We came around lunch time and sat at a booth. There were other worker bees grabbing a quick lunch. The service was quick, efficient and friendly, and we ordered the French onion soup to start, and split the fried chicken sandwich and Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The sandwiches come with a side, so one plate we did fries with a house-made aioli and the other plate, their quinoa kale salad. Delicious. Such hearty portions! The bread is so fresh, the meat juicy and ample, and flavors just right. We also ordered beer on tap, shoutout to Oakland United, and tried their house-made hot sauce that they also sell by the bottle. Would love to come back to try brunch here too. I also saw a patron ordering the quinoa kale salad with fried chicken, and yes, that's the vibe! Pricing is fair for the quality and quantity, and street parking available (although the restaurant is located at the bottom of Solano where it tends to be a bit more busy). Women-owned biz, and they also were on Check Please! Bay Area.

The barista blended in fresh, real bananas, and it tasted so refreshing and smooth. The space itself is super clean and lush, and the baristas were genuinely friendly and helpful. I chose to ignore it and proceeded to order the banana crème iced coffee and a pastry. The other barista was pleasant enough, but the initial one never even made contact with me. I'm not expecting a full-on conversation, but a simple "hello" would go a long way. They placed my pastry on a little wooden board and proceeded to make my drink, so I figured they'd bring it out to me when it was ready. I chose to grab a seat while I waited. They then called my order so I went to grab it and sat back down. I immediately noticed every other person there was getting table service. The baristas would bring out the drinks and pastries on the same wooden boards, even to the people that were upstairs. Coincidentally, I was the only male and person of color in there. It really left a bad taste in my mouth and soured my whole experience. Drink and pastry was great, but I would not recommend going here just based off their customer service. With all the coffee shops in the area, you'd think they'd make an effort to make people feel welcome. I'd suggest taking your business elsewhere.
