The rock shrimp has a good amount of breading and the flavors are very pro-Americanized palates. Unless you find parking on the street, it's paid for parking because it's Rice Village. Peach Bellini is their most popular drink. It became viral on tick tock and it's very strong with vodka and champagne. A couple of these may get one tipsy easily. Karina is the real MVP. To start, we had a reservation for 7 people, we arrived early, we very courteous and ordered cocktails. The cocktails were O.K, one margarita came out as tequila on the rocks, which was just ridiculous, and the staff have a basic idea of what goes into a mojito, but no real skill at making one. The hostesses were, extra. Hot Cheeto girls with a mean streak. They stuffed themselves into the all black outfits, with parts oozing out here and there, it was truly sad. Anyway, I digress, we were five appetizers into the experience when one of the hostesses sauntered over and loudly proclaimed, " Due to very busy, you dining experience is limited to 90 minutes" Yes, she spoke that way. She them proceeded to mean mug us for the next 45 minutes as we pushed past 90 minutes as a form of protest. We quit purchasing food, and drink and just sat there looking at her, daring her to come over and enforce her little power trip time limit. Never happened. The food was amazing, very well done. The lobster is cold inside the bread (which I personally did not know it would be, as it was my first ever lobster roll). I liked the taste of the lobster and the amount they give but the cold temp was throwing me off just a bit. I would give it a 7/10. I did, however, recently discover that you would order the lobster to be warmed. This is probably what I would do next time. The skinny fries - these were the moment for me!!!! 10/10. First time at Hudson House and would I return to this establishment? Maybe. Once entering you could see they had a lot of customers and the hostess let us know that there would be a wait we asked how long and they suggested we go find a seat at the bar. After seeing there were no seats at the bar we returned to the hostess stand standing behind a couple (just 2 people) and saw they were escorted to a table when we were told they no longer had any at that moment. We were then asked if we wanted to be seated outside, trying to still be positive about the experience we said yes and headed outside. During the time we were there the waiter tripped over the oversized umbrella three times which almost fell and hit my partner each time. We received our drinks my first one had a piece of hair in it that I sent back which I'm sure they just picked the hair out of it. I originally asked for a espresso martini and the waiter stated that it was too late to have one and that I should try the Stone Fruit martini and that they had the coldest martinis around which all wasn't true at least not our beverages. We ended up only ordering one round of drinks and a shrimp appetizer which was also on the cold side and that's not because we were sitting outside because once we received it we started to eat. Our waiter also didn't provide us with any water until we asked for them with our check. Overall I can't comment on the ambiance because we were sat outside (after being told there were no seats inside and then watching another party of two that just walked in BEHIND us be sat) the drinks were mid and so was the appetizer. Service 5 stars! The place is nicely decorated, has a fun atmosphere and great art pieces all over the walls. Located in bustling Rice village. I found street parking for free a block down. There paid lots, and garage also. I think there is valet in that area as well. Came here for the first time with a group of Yelpers. We had a resy. But it wasn't full when we arrived at 11:30a on a Saturday but it filled up as the afternoon went on. Food- after reading the reviews there was the one thing that seemed to have positive feedback, so I went with that. I ordered the burger and it was yum. They have a lobster roll, that my friends had ordered. That thing seemed so tiny, and the reviews were mid so I steered clear. Service- was fabulous. Our server was Nicholas Tilman. He was so good to us, was charming, fun, and gave great service despite being so busy. He was the bartender made all of the drinks and the server, double duty is a lot. Management reading this: please give this man a raise. He didn't rush us out. Drink- I got a mocktail that our server created, and was happy with. My friends enjoyed there cocktails as well. I visited one of Houston's hot spots this weekend and I think it's safe to say that understand why. We had a reservation for 12 for my homegirls bday so they can definitely accommodate a large group. As soon as I walk in the smell of fresh truffle fries will smack you right in your face and I absolute loved it. This is such a perfect place to have lunch on a beautiful afternoon and apparently they have a nice happy hour from 3-6 on weekdays so I'll have to check that out. Okay so let's talk about how one of these frozen Bellinis almost had me laid out in the middle of the afternoon. Their drinks are so strong and soo good you wouldn't even see sneaking up on you! My friends and I like to do a monthly brunch to catch up and eat good food. Hudson House was our stop this month. This is their second location in Houston and is located in Rice Village. If you're from Houston, you know this area is busy, especially on the weekends. You do have to pay for parking out front or go to the garage where I believe parking is free the first two hours. Reservations are highly recommended. We were some of the first customers of the day but it got really busy after the few hours we were here. Customer service here was top notch. When we arrived, they put us in a booth with four place settings, but we were a party of five. Without hesitation, the hostess moved us to a larger corner booth and got us comfortable. The star of the show was Nicolas though. He was our waiter/bartender. He was doing it all. He was super friendly and very helpful. He was also making drinks as they were ordered. He definitely went above and beyond! I didn't come super hungry so I skipped on appetizers. I saw some of their popular items being delivered to nearby tables and regretted that choice. I did start off with an espresso martini which was very tasty. I usually lean towards breakfast items at brunch but totally went the other direction and got the French Chicken. It's sous vide chicken breasts that are sliced thinly with a Cajun seasoning and a lemon sauce on top. This chicken was excellent. I usually like dark meat, but the slow cooking made for a very juicy chicken. It was also served with skinny fries and an arugula salad. It was a very well balanced meal. You got the light chicken and salad with a little mound of fries as the indulgent part of the meal. I would get this again. My group got a variety of popular items and every plate was clean by the time we were done. I like that you have a QR code at the table to pay your bill and they even allow for the bill to be split. Really enjoyed the vibe here! There's plenty of parking, although most of the area is metered, so just keep that in mind. We came during happy hour and I ordered the frozen peach Bellini and the burger. The Bellini was really good. I ended up ordering two. The only issue was that the second one came out unfrozen instead of frozen. They did take it back without any problem and let us wait for a frozen one, which I appreciated, but I do wish they would've just asked first if we were okay waiting a little longer for it to freeze. I've been to Hudson House a few times now, most recently last Saturday with my sister. We had a reservation, which is definitely needed since they book up every weekend. Even though it was super busy, our waitress was incredibly attentive. I've also come during the week for happy hour, and their drink deals are really good. This time around, I ordered a lemon drop martini, which was good, but I think I still prefer their French 75. For food, I had the lobster roll, which was buttery and delicious, and of course the truffle parmesan fries, which are always a go-to. I really enjoyed my experience at Hudson House. The food was delicious! My husband and I tried the two different lobster rolls. We had one warm and one cold lobster with the skinny truffle fries. Both rolls were delicious but my favorite was the warm one. We also tried the Key lime and I really liked the texture of the filling. It was more of a lighter feeling with a pecan graham crust. It made eating feel less guilty. I also order a French 75 which was amazing. The service was great as well. Our server Jayla was super sweet and accommodating! I visited Hudson House from Florida and had a fantastic time! Tiago and Octavio were extremely nice and helpful, starting from the door - the service was very hospitable. I tried the raw bar - Spicy tuna crispy rice and sunset rolls were a hit!!! For entree, I went with the French Chicken (left the butter sauce on the side) and definitely recommend. There is paid parking in the front and free parking in the garage for the first two hours. The menu was limited but I enjoyed the food options and definitely stuffed when I left. The food came out to be about $120 before tip. I ordered the east coast oysters. The housemade vinaigrette paired perfectly on top of the oysters. While truffle fries didn't stay hot for long, I enjoyed them nevertheless. The burger was one of the best burgers I have had in awhile. The bun was sweet & savory with two smash burger patties. This was my first visit to Hudson House, and unfortunately, it was a terrible first impression. My friend and I sat at the bar, where we were served by a bartender whose name started with the letter "A." Unfortunately, I can't remember her name because we had to ask and she never came back. After pouring our drinks, she didn't offer us straws. Instead, she placed a jar full of sticky, dirty straws in front of us and expected us to pick one ourselves. It was unsanitary and immediately set the tone for the rest of the experience. She handed us our menus, and within about 10 minutes we knew exactly what we wanted to order. The problem was that she never came back to check on us or take our order. It became obvious that she was intentionally ignoring us. There were only about seven people sitting at the bar, yet a couple who arrived after we did had already ordered, received their food, and were much further along in their meal while we were still waiting just to place an order. After waiting approximately 25 minutes without any acknowledgment, we got up and left. I was genuinely looking forward to trying Hudson House because I'd heard so many great things, especially since my sister frequently visits the Dallas location and always speaks highly of it. Unfortunately, this location did not come close to meeting those expectations. We ended up going next door to Black Walnut, where we were greeted promptly, received excellent service, and had a much better overall experience. I hope management addresses the level of service being provided, because no customer should feel ignored or have to deal with something as basic as a container of dirty, sticky straws. If you visit, be cautious if you're seated with the bartender whose name starts with "A." Our experience was disappointing from start to finish. read more

I've wanted to go here since they opened and today finally did! My friend and I met there for lunch. The restaurant is beautiful with a lot of gorgeous booths. The service was stellar, our server was so so nice! The manager stopped by to say hello. We both had the Hudson House salad. It was DELICIOUS! It was huge, and had a beautifully sliced avocado, bacon, fried chicken nuggets, cheddar cheese, marinated tomatoes, and served with the best green goddess dressing. Watched anxiously for this location in Rice Village to open. We made reservations for their first Saturday evening open. The garage has free parking for two hours or you can park right in front of Hudson House and pay via the Park app. Ambience was on point for a New York theme. Cold cold cold martinis! He had a lemon drop and I had the Bleu and Gold. We started with the shrimp cocktail. Perfect start to our meal! The rumelaud was great (& used it with the fries - amazing!) We shared the redfish which was served with broccoli. The light blanc sauce and lemon were a perfect touch (& a perfect amount). Added the truffle parm skinny fries too. Cool spot for some alone time with my Mrs. We ate at the bar which is way better than being asked if we had a reservation. The bar staff was very friendly and extremely attentive. The restaurant has a warm feel. The round booths can sit 7 comfortably which makes it great for conversations. The fish was delicious, light and cooked to perfection. The broccoli was amazing. We also shared fries that have a great spice in them. We had a variety of the martinis and all were fabulous. The only reason I'm docking stars is because of the service. Everyone is super friendly, but the service is sooo slow. I've visited now 4 times and each time the service is very slow to be acknowledged by the staff at the bar and then to get my drink after ordering is also very slow, upwards of 10-15 minutes sometimes. Additionally, each time I've visited there seems to be so much confusion with food coming out and the runners knowing who to deliver the food to. There has consistently been confusion about where the food is going and I always almost get served food that was meant for someone else because they are unsure where it is going. Other than the service issue (which hopefully will get resolved the longer they are open), the food here is very good. They only serve east coast oysters which LOVE. the oysters are always super fresh, and I love their mignonette. Their cheeseburger and truffles fries are not to be missed. I honestly dream about that meal. My only other qualm about this restaurant is that they do advertise their happy hour is only available in the bar, however they have several tables that are in their partitioned off bar area however you cannot get Thor happy hour specials at those tables not just seems a little silly to me when those tables are less than 10 feet from the actual bar, are within the sectioned-off area of the bar but yet you can't get the bar specials there.
