Great place in downtown Houston. Lovely atmosphere. We ordered a lot of small plates for the table and it was very good. Standout was the chicken guido, Garlic bread, meatballs and sauce. Pesto pasta and shrimp Giambu diavolo were okay but everything else was outstanding. Highly recommend.

I've heard so many good things about Giacomos that I was so excited to try it! The service was kind and fast. The eggplant cicchetti and polpette cicchetti were absolutely delicious--the appetizers were definitely the stars of the meal! They were so flavorful that I was a little disappointed by my bolognese, which seemed underseasoned in comparison. I also tried my friend's cacio e pepe and found it somewhat lackluster. I would definitely return for the cicchetti!

Cannot believe it took me so long to come here. This should be a Houston staple for sure! The wine list is long but the staff have plenty of great recs. Can't go wrong!! Get the garlic bread. It's so garlicky and buttery and crispy. Tried 3 different pastas, but my favorite was the Puccini- the lamb meatballs were so flavorful and the pasta sauce was a perfect red sauce. All the pasta was cooked well and had the right texture. I must return to try more dishes!! Jennifer took great care of us! This place is busy- recommend a reservation!

Fantastic Tortellini with Tomato Cream !!!

There are 5 entrees I love a lot here and the top 3 of those are the Tortellini with Tomato Cream, Swiss Chard Bietola and Bolognese. The Fungi Pasta and Tortellini with Parm Cream are right after these for me. I was craving a good, homemade Bolognese with some authentic uniqueness to it and that dish was my selection on this wet Thursday night. It was really delicious, so fresh, comforting and had a great ratio of meat gravy to noodles. Every bite was full of both great aromas and tenderness in the pasta. The noodle thickness was perfect allowing the starch and meat to stand out on their own plus combined. The bolognese wasn't really soupy, greasy or typical like some restaurants either. Their chocolate pie dessert is a very delicious dessert on the everyday menu. If they still have that mango cheesecake on special next time I'm definitely getting it, bc the main base is probably full of awesome mango taste like their awesome seasonal cranberry / raspberry ones they had before. This is exactly how fruit cheesecakes should taste, not drizzled. Very welcoming, friendly, efficient service on this visit again too.

Great tasting grouper and wonderful server who made sure the drinks were full & kept coming by to ask how things were. He recommended the grouper.

Our server was super informative and helpful choosing our wine. I enjoyed our burrata salad but felt like our pasta was a bit dry. I think I just need to go back and try another pasta since a lot of people rave about this place.

Amazing! Such a great place if you are craving Italian. The pasta is made fresh and the food has amazing flavor. We got the wore popular dishes and they didn't disappoint- bolognese and carbonara. The appetizer was the crustini and it was good but the entrees were the star of the show. My husband ordered the wine so I don't remember what we got but it was good. The service was good- just make a reservation!!

4.5 Stars. I like this place a lot. What stands out most is the people who run it. Very laid back, so accomodating, even under the stress of all the goings on. They take reservations and still get a lot of people showing up without them. I had to wait, unexpectantly, about 45 minutes for my guests to show up, so had a firsthand look at the superhuman hosts manning the phone as well as greeting guests at the host stand... and this place is BUSY. Shelby mainly, and a man came to assist from time to time... well done guys! What helps is they seemingly have a great and loyal clientele... so eager to dine here they accept whatever the quoted wait. Not surprising, they have a lot of regulars. Super casual, no pretense here. Just straight forward, home style italian cooking. There's a good selection of vino and the service is excellent. No wonder they are packing them in! We ordered a bunch of things and we pretty much did it family style. My favorite pasta was the Carbonara. Everything served hot, right from the kitchen... all excellent. We enjoyed our red from Santini in the Bolgheri Region of Tuscany. Our waiter, Rodrigo, was great... attentive and personable.

Hot garlic bread and provolone fusil al forno
    Suelynn N.

I came here on a double date with a friend of ours . The restaurant is really cute. There's an outdoor indoor portion. We wanted to be indoor so we had to wait about 45 minutes. The staff is very attentive and nice and have checked on us to make sure we're OK. Tables and chairs are stable and clean. There's free parking out in front and in the back. Now for the food, I would highly recommend the hot garlic bread with the provolone Fuso al forno. The provolone fuso al forno - it's an amazing mix and chunks of vegetables and it's great to pair with the hawk garlic bread once you're out of the bread that already came with. The hawk garlic bread its very flavorful. The carbonara stated that it was aggressively, pork and pepper yet it wasn't spicy to me, so don't be afraid to have this however, I prefer the tortellini and tomato cream sauce. The tortellini was super filling and has an amazing sauce. Not pictured was their Alfredo and their tortellini di bietola. The Alfredo dish tasted like it was missing something. It didn't really have much of a flavor. The tortellini di bietola was good, but it really brings out the ricotta texture and taste. So if ricotta or goat cheese is too pungent for you , this might not be it. Overall, this was still a really good time place. I would come here again.

The service was the star of the show here! Our waiter was one of the most child friendly waiters I've ever interacted with. I wish I remembered his name but he gave wonderful suggestions regarding what food to order based off of baby friendliness and speed. He also let us sample a wine before we got it which saved us from ordering something we would not have liked. The food itself was what you should expect from a restaurant with a massive menu. It all tasted a bit Americanized, nothing was gross but it felt like going to an elevated Olive Garden. The one full miss was the crostinis. The spreads reminded me of baby food. Pretty ok family friend Italian spot. Average dishes. Great service.

This is probably the best Italian restaurant on Houston. The food was phenomenal. The hostess was able to get us a table without reservation. The restaurant is quaint and inviting.

Where oh where do I begin? The hawk's garlic bread was amazing. The fresh herbs and garlic so yummy. The burrata was delicious. The Casalinga (freshmade pasta) was some of the freshest I've ever had. I am sitting here a couple hours later still daydreaming about everything. My husband and I finished everything we got. I can't wait to come back again. The service was great. The waiter had to warm up to use a bit but glad that he did by the end. While the inside isn't the most romantic, it was the perfect date night. The patio looks darling. Pro Tip- The tiramisu isn't the made daily but I highly recommend it. Call ahead if you really want it.

I've had Mimo on my radar for a couple of years, but somehow I never found the right occasion to finally give it a try. Well, celebrating both my birthday and wedding anniversary seemed like a pretty good reason! I must say, Mimo had to fight hard to earn those five stars. The experience was memorable, not necessarily because it was perfect, but because it wasn't. The imperfections, oddly enough, are what made it memorable. Let's start with the menu. There aren't many dishes, which is generally speaking a good sign these days. There's really no excuse not to use fresh ingredients when you're working with a smaller menu. At the same time, I wouldn't say the offerings were particularly adventurous. That said, the quality was definitely there. We started with the Fritter as an appetizer, and it was super delicious. The combination of fried zucchini, corn, and that touch of honey somehow really worked! Then we ordered a pasta dish each, under the common assumption that a pasta dish in most Italian restaurants (including the ones in Italy) is supposed to be filling. Well... no! These were pretty small. I ordered the spaghetti al limone, while my wife went for the gnocchi. Both were good, although the spaghetti were cooked somewhere on the borderline between al dente and chewy. The corn in the gnocchi also felt a little alien, like it didn't really belong there. Still, we couldn't deny that the flavors were good and the ingredients were fresh. Oddly enough, we were still hungry, so we ordered a second dish each: the Pork Milanese for me and the Pesce del Giorno for my wife. And this is where Mimo saved the day! The Pork Milanese, with mortadella and pecorino cheese on top, was delicious. And the polenta that came with my wife's dish was one of the best I've ever had. Interestingly, these dishes were disproportionately larger, more than making up for the minuscule portions of the pasta dishes. So, I guess it all worked out in the end! Another date saver was the service. It was outstanding. Attentive, friendly, and exactly what you would expect from a restaurant trying to create a special experience. Then came dessert: the Zeppole. It was good, but nothing particularly special. To me, it tasted like churros made with a dough that incorporated ricotta. Not bad at all, just not something I'll be dreaming about later. And that was our experience at Mimo! I think the review probably benefited from the fact that I was there celebrating a special occasion. It was a somewhat strange experience, with some ups and downs, but we genuinely enjoyed it. Would I be back? Possibly... Four stars stretched to five? Yeah... FIVE Stars!

Mimo's offers a great selection of Italian inspired apps, three well appointed pizzas, a few varied and surprising options for pasta dishes, and some mains. Items we tried: Pane - delicious Roasted Carrot Pizza - AMAZING, A little spicy, but definitely something we would order again. Pastas we ordered initially came out cold - our incredible waiter immediately corrected the issue. But from a flavor profile - Pansotti - sooooo delicious. You'd never guess that it was a vegetarian option - the mushrooms were so meaty. The delicate pouches with the spinach and ricotta were heavenly. Pappardelle - The lamb braised sauce had a depth of flavor that could rival any restaurant in Italy. My only tiny hope was that the pasta would have been served aldente, it was a little overcooked. But to each his own. Overall - really great. Would recommend. This would be great for a weeknight dinner or an off the beaten path date night.

Tasted like meatloaf from a diner in the middle of nowhere. The cappuccino? Cold and not strong The tart? Decent but not the best. Both my friend and I agreed we'd never go back and haven't had such a poor quality meal in awhile. As for service, I'll note that the server was so nice and was new. Had she not have mentioned she was new, that would be my next paragraph of notes. Don't be fooled by the online aesthetic- save your time and money and go literally anywhere else.

We arrived at the restaurant at noon and it was completely empty - but in all fairness they only opened at 11. We were a party of 6 and all ordered something different. I chose the 25th Street Pasta which was very unique & very delicious. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selected items. The portions were on the larger side in my opinion but not extreme. The bread & oil they serve was also amazing. Sadly we were all too stuffed to try desert but certainly will next time. This is definitely a "don't judge the place by the location" because it was a delicious dining experience. Our server was attentive & accommodating, the prices were very reasonable for the portion size, incredible quality and freshness. If you are looking for a new fav spot don't miss this one.

We ordered the tiramisu for dessert, and nowhere on the menu did it mention that it was served with a slice of kiwi hidden underneath the whipped cream. I'm allergic to kiwi, and because it was completely covered, I didn't realize it was there until after I had already taken a bite. I brought this to our server's attention, not because I was looking for a discount or anything free, but simply because I wanted the staff to be aware so this wouldn't happen to another customer with a food allergy. Instead, the first response I received was asking if I had read the menu, which I had. Unfortunately, the menu never mentioned kiwi being part of the dessert. What really bothered me was overhearing the conversation afterward. Our server spoke with another staff member a few booths away, and I heard comments along the lines of, "Well, he should've mentioned his allergy," and "He should've asked." It felt like the responsibility was being placed entirely on me rather than acknowledging that an undisclosed ingredient had been served. I understand that customers with allergies should communicate them whenever possible, but I also think restaurants have a responsibility to disclose ingredients that aren't typically expected, especially when they're hidden in the presentation. I've had tiramisu many times and have never encountered one served with kiwi tucked beneath whipped cream. Again, the food itself was good, and this review isn't about trying to get compensation. I genuinely wanted to help prevent a similar situation for someone else. Unfortunately, the way my concern was handled left me feeling dismissed and caused me to lose confidence in the restaurant's approach to food allergies.
