Each day, they offer the typical vanilla and chocolate custard options along with a daily special. You can also top your custard with variety of toppings like crushed Oreos. I got a KID SCOOP (3.50) of chocolate custard that was creamy, but missing a lot of depth and overall flavor. It wasn't very rich and not velvety smooth. Despite the unbeatable pricing, I'm unsure if I would be back for another. One of my friends tried the daily special flavor, which was a Snickers-based custard, aka vanilla custard with snickers mixed in. Milwaukee Frozen Custard has been a family go to for years and years. We recently stopped in and where gladdened to see that the welcome and the service were so warm and friendly. Getting such a nice greeting puts a smile on one's face as does yummy frozen custard. Today we had the chocolate chip cookie dough which was smooth and creamy and just the right amount of sweet with a crunch cone. It's really fun to look at the monthly calendar and see what will be coming in the days ahead. I'm from Milwaukee and I've been to many frozen custard stands. When I heard about this place I had to give it a try. It's a very basic shop in a strip mall. There are 5 or 6 tables for seating; but minimal atmosphere. I was somewhat disappointed that they only had 2 flavors of custard: chocolate and vanilla. They also had a special flavor of the day; Cherry Garcia. It was vanilla custard mixed with cherries and chocolate flakes. I decided to get a hot fudge sundae with vanilla custard. It was good; but nothing special, and a bit overpriced at $6.85. My husband had the turtle sundae. He said it was good but the caramel sauce hardened and it was difficult to scrape off the serving cup. I probably would have only given Milwaukee Frozen Custard 2 stars; but the service was good. When ever I have my 6 month dental checkup at the nearby Family Dentistry of VA I make it a habit to have ice cream at the Milwaukee Frozen Custard. I love that place because its basic great tasting ice cream. custard. I don't need an assortment of goobas in my ice cream. I go way back to when they 1st opened and I was married living in Little Rocky Run. Its the real deal here. I had a cone of the flavor of the day "Death by Chocolate". What a sweet way to perish Yum. I am a fan of ice cream regardless of the temperature outside. Its a great place for children- nothing for them to get hurt on and/or break. The employees are always ready to have a conversation about the history; its always fun to talk with them about this icon of a shop. I think this place is a small family owned business, usually see 1 or 2 people working at the most, so be patient, as there is a line sometimes, but they work pretty fast! Came here with my family to get a sweet treat. Didn't realize they only had 4 flavors: Death by Chocoate (daily flavor), vanilla, chocolate, and orange Italian ice. Milwaukees has been around for a while! They have switched ownership's many times. In a nutshell, this is a local custard shop that supports local communities (sport sponsorship, school sponsorship, etc). They make all their custards in house and they package what they don't sell that day so you can pick up a pint later. I use to LOVE Milwaukees for the LOW-CARB vanilla custard they had. I bought it each time I went and it helped me stay on diet. I also bought the pints when they no longer made it up front and ONLY had them in the pints. Sadly they retired the low-carb. However, they still make new flavors of custard EVERYDAY. They have a calendar card for the month that you can pick up at the register to tell you what flavors they have. On this particular visit, we came after Who Seek let us down on our desert craving. We both got the flavor of the day (Pumpkin Pie) and added toppings of Sprinkles to one and Bananas to the other. They were very good! The workers are always pleasant and there never seems to be a line. They have a small patio area where you can sit with your dog during good weather days and share some ice cream. I will def be back to Milwaukee's! read more

The place definitely gives off a retro-vibe with old newspaper clippings hanging on the walls, and well used tables and chairs both inside and on the patio. It was an unusually warm October weekend, so I took this opportunity to enjoy their "flavor of the day," the Grasshopper. All of the flavors here start with their Vanilla base and then flavors are added. I definitely enjoy the standard Vanilla and Chocolate, but will usually opt for whatever the special is. The Grasshopper was a vibrant green mint concoction with crushed Oreo Cookies mixed in. Mmm...it was tasty. I guess it is a misnomer of sorts to label this place an "ice cream joint," since custard usually has a higher fat content and more egg yolks mixed in. But regardless of what you call it, it's delicious. Order it served in a cup with some sprinkles, or in one of their dipped chocolate bowls. The two young men who helped us both presented their own issues. The young man who made our order was rushing for the invisible line of patrons behind us. There was literally no one behind us at the time so I could not understand why he felt so rushed. He was rushing so much to the point that when he put the last scoop of custard in my cup, some fell on that brown catch all mat they have around the sides. He looked up, surveyed for any onlooking eyes and then proceeded to swoop the custard that dropped on the mat back into the gen pop container below. Ohhhhh myyyyyy wooorddddd, shall I barf now or later??? The young man on the register should have called out sick. I lost count of how many times he used his cash receiving hand, top side at that, to wipe his running nose. Shall I wait for you to reread that again? He was using the top side of his hand to catch the constant drip from his nose. Now it could have been allergies or it could have been a cold but why are we left to try to figure it out when all I wanted was custard. Le sigh and le gross de la gross. After all this, you would think this custard would serve up the most enticing wow factor. It did not. It was meh at best. Not the worst, not the greatest. The consistency was the only thing worthy of praise. The wet walnuts were about a few days away from needing to be replaced so they were not the firmest nuts from the nut factory. There were 10 people here at the time which is a great sign. Said person said they just wanted a bite. Knowing what that meant, I went from ordering a small to ordering a large. Needless to say I watched the love of my life eat the majority of the delicious chocolate custard we ordered. If that's not an endorsement enough I don't know what is. I love this place and I have been back many times. We just make separate orders now. I did want to add that I love the chocolate custard but wasn't a fan of the rest of the flavors.
