This particular Mimi's in Chino has always been exceptional with their food and service. Minimal staff turnover makes for happy servers and cooks! I love their bread basket provided to you while you wait for your meal. It's unlimited so you can get full munching on them, like I do! Sadly the experience at this Mimis was horrible. It was 6:15 pm and a very quiet night. So much so, it took almost 5 minutes before we were even acknowleged or seated. Not an employee in sight. We should have left then. We ordered an appetizer. Just Hummus and crudite. And our meals. The waitress said she would bring back bread. Then a group of 10 walked into the bar and the waitress became bartender. She was serving drinks and it took 30 minutes to get the crudite which had mushy tomatoes, old celery and carrots. We asked if our meal was coming out since we waited so long for vegetables. She was going to check. Never came back. read more

We had a 'Celebration of Life' for my mother-in-law today for 30 people. Kennedy and Nancy were our dedicated servers and really helped to make the occasion special. We couldn't have asked for more attentive, friendly and professional servers. The food was good and all the orders were brought out correctly and at the same time. Mona, the manager, was very helpful and even printed up a menu just for our event. I came again and ordered the Mushroom, Bacon & Brie Omelette which I got a blueberry muffin along with that and Herb Roasted Potatoes and...here are some comments that I have regarding my experience: - If your calling something "Herb Roasted Potatoes," I expect to see herb on the potatoes. I hardly didn't see any. Definitely didn't match photo on the menu. - Chef forgot to include caramelized onions on my omelette. Brought it to the waiter's attention, and he said the omelette doesn't come with that, which I told him the contrary (it does) based on what the menu says. This was fixed by the waiter giving me a side of caramelized onions, but make sure you guys know your stuff. - Food tastes bland: hardly no seasoning (no salt) on the omelette and potatoes. Last time I came the potatoes were well seasoned, but not this time. I feel like they need to be taught from the chef at Russo's Haven from Banning. He's great at seasoning things perfectly. Food tends to taste better when you add salt during the cooking process compared to afterwards. - Muffin was kind of hard (dry pretty much). Based on my experience here, I don't think I'll be coming by again. read more

My son and I went for lunch, I ordered a salad and he ordered a sandwich without mayo and the hummus appetizer. The hummus was good but watery. The vegetables were not fresh. They looked like they had been frozen. They switched servers and had someone different bring out our meal. My sons had extra mayo, which he just removed the best he could and ate it anyways (not often done by a 13 yr old). My dressing was sour and when I quietly told the new server, she was offended. I asked for the bill and when I gave her a coupon she said "how much more do you want me to take off? I've already removed your salad"! I would recommend you test the dressing before you put it on your salad. I don't go here often. My kids love the bran muffins and now they don't server those anymore, so I guess I have no reason to go back. read more

I was so pleasantly surprised with my recent visit to Mimi's. I remember going there when I was younger with my mom all the time and we always had good service while we were there, but this recent time I finally came back I had such a great breakfast. Normally I don't like to go places alone, but this time I did and the young man Aaron that attended to me was so nice and helpful. I noticed quite a bit had changed since my last time eating there, but he was great at suggesting something for me to try. He was very attentive to me and anything I needed. Below is the email I sent to the guest relation email I saw at the bottom of our receipt. I think this pretty much details our dining experience. I find it interesting that I never even received a response from Mimis corporate. Pretty disappointing all of the way around. It started when we walked in the door. We were not greeted for several minutes. There was time for me to go to the restroom to wash my hands and return and my wife said that no one has come out. She then goes to wash her hands and I ended up having to walk up to someone to ask if we were supposed to be seated or do we just find seats ourselves. The lady grabs some menus and then turns around and starts walking away. I then ask her if I am supposed to follow her or will she be back to which her reply was yes follow me. When the waitress came to our table, I informed her that the toilet in the mens bathroom was continuously running (I tried to shut it off myself) and she just said I will let them know. The waitress comes to us and asks us for our drink orders (doesn't seem very cheerful but everyone has bad days). I ended up ordering the chicken pot pie and the French onion soup, wife ordered the meatloaf with a salad. We inquired about bread as well as the table next to us and were told that it was in the oven (no biggie). After about 6-8 minutes, we received our soup and salad and then were told that there weren't any more pot pies (which I actually joked with my wife when I ordered). The waitress just plopped a menu and asked me if I knew what I wanted instead to which I replied not yet. I ended up choosing the turkey pesto sandwich. The sandwich was a bit small (I can stand to not eat a large sandwich) so I didn't say anything. However after a bit or two it was apparent that this was a chicken sandwich and not the turkey pesto I ordered. The good news is that the sandwich was actually pretty good. Half way through the sandwich another waitress came to the table with .... A turkey sandwich which I replied never mind. I finished the sandwich and waited to see if the fact that I got someone elses sandwich would be addressed and it wasn't. When the check came, I jokingly asked the waitress whos sandwich I got and she said that she accidentally grabbed the wrong sandwich. She barely got out an apology and plopped down the check and walked away. I would think a descent apology and an offer to remove it from the bill (I would have denied since I ate the sandwich). In regards to the waitress, I am going to chalk it up to a bad day (at least I hope so). This wasn't our first mediocre experience at this location but thought we would give it another shot. My wifes comments after the meal was that the best thing about the meal was the bread (which eventually came after a few more "Its still in the oven" mentions) and the salad. Ive never left a Yelp review in my life but I feel it is necessary for the experience I had here . I've lived in the chino area for my whole life and always wanted to try this restaurant. I was finally able to try it out ... I am so disappointed... the food was horrible. I couldn't even get past the first couple bites of my food . On top of it being the most bland food I've had in my life my burrito shell was soggy . The potatoes were definitely the worst part . This is one of our favorite regular weekend brunch/lunch/late lunch place, their bakery items are absolutely a must try, all flavors of muffins (including the seasonal ones of course) are tasty, and the breakfast burrito is also super bomb (my personal go-to item). The service is always friendly and patient, even tho weekend days are their busiest time. Only downside is the wait time, it could easily be longer than 20 mins of wait to be seated, but thinking about how much liked by the neighborhood this place is, it is expected and worth of it. read more
