    Roasted Half Chicken

I hadn't been to Mimi's Café in over 10 years, so going back for an early Easter brunch with my family felt a little nostalgic--and I'm happy to say it was a pleasant surprise! I ordered the salmon with sweet corn, and it was absolutely amazing. We devoured it. We also ordered a roasted half chicken with garlic spinach, which was unexpectedly delicious, along with fries that rounded out the plate nicely. My uncle ordered the pot roast, and it looked just as good as it tasted, he cleaned his plate completely. The quality of the food really stood out to me. I wasn't sure what to expect after so long, but everything we tried was flavorful and satisfying. While the service could have been a bit more attentive, it wasn't bad by any means and didn't take away from the overall experience and I would definitely return!

As some of us know a lot of Mimi's Cafes went out of business. Sad but true. The one that I used to go to pretty frequently was in Atwater Village close to Hollywood. That one also shut down. As I checked out of the hotel that I was staying at, got very hungry before taking the freeway to head home. I noticed that there was a Mimi's Cafe on Huntington Drive and got super excited to go in. Walked in yesterday around 1:15pm and was greeted by the host named Kevin. He was pleasant, nice and took me to my seat in their main dining room. The restaurant was very clean including both bathrooms and they also have a gender neutral restroom. The manager by the name of Ramiro came by to take my order. He was kind, patient, and had good customer service skills. Knew his job well. On this visit, I ordered their Birria Dip Sandwich which came with Birria beef, melted mozzarella cheese, grilled onions, cilantro, and jalapeños, The sandwich came with a side of crispy French fries on a Ciabatta roll. $18.99. It was super tender, hot, fresh, and made to perfection! I also got a side veggie salad that had lettuce, tomato, & croutons.$4.49. Also very fresh & delicious. For dessert, I got their Carrot Loaf with walnuts.$5.99. My server Kayley was sweet, helpful and did an excellent job serving me. She was quick and efficient. Checked on me few times to make sure I was doing well. The place is very big, has a bar, and beautiful artwork on the walls. Next time I am in the area and craving something from their extensive menu, I will definitely stop by at this quaint restaurant. It also has a nice sized patio. Felt like I was in France. I love and missed my Mimi's Cafe. Thank you Mimi's, Kevin, Ramiro, and Kayley!!:-)) Plenty of parking spaces in this HUGE shopping center!

Food and service is excellent however your bathrooms are disgustingly dirty. The doors where you enter and exit are filthy and could be cleaned easily but haven't been done and years... the pictures tell themselves.. do better ! Use baking soda , vinegar and lemon oil or lemon juice to clean

Don't believe them if there are reservations. It's all just smoke and mirrors.

Over the years Mimi's Cafes quality and service at this location have gone down hill. I keep going for random dinners on weeknights. The food isn't as fresh or the quality isn't there. I've tried to give grace over time but today was the icing on the cake. We made a reservation on OpenTable knowing it's a holiday and that some places will be closed and others packed. We figured Mimi's isn't too far from City of Hope, where we would be headed after to see my mom. We arrived and we were told that the wait would be an hour+ since their reservations are all full. I asked why would I be able to make one and they said they allow you to do that even if it's full. I know for a fact that you can turn that off if you're full or unable to take more reservations. So they are making the choice to inconvenience and waste peoples time. As I'm writing this, you can still make reservations ever 15 mins all day even though I was told there are no more reservations for the day. Guess I'll be grabbing something at the hospital while I visit my mom.

Mimi's - Monrovia - dad and I both had the turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and green beans, and cranberry sauce - which was delightful. We also had the tomato basil soup - it was exceptional! - they knocked it out of the park! I also had a glass of the Malbec wine, which was quite good. also, the complementary bread in the table was good almost a sourdough with kind of a cooked in a fire vibe with the burnt edges. Very nice with whipped butter. For dessert, he had the lava cake with ice cream, which looked wonderful and I had the exceptional buttermilk spiced muffin, which I've been coming to Mimi's for for years if you've never had one you have to have it it is uniquely delicious, and wonderful!

When in town always stop here for either breakfast or lunch. Atmosphere is nice and enjoy the menu selections. Service was top notch.

Brown, old lettuce in my Chinese Chicken salad. Bland flavor. Big disappointment!

The ambiance here has always been lovely. The service is usually slow but on January 26th, when I went to take my friend out for her birthday, our server was actually pretty good. I would have chosen a different restaurant but I had a Mimi's gift card and my friend likes Mimi's. My friend had the salmon meal and said it was delicious. I ordered the Chinese chicken salad. The lettuce was browning and the flavor was meh. Usually there is cabbage in these salads but I don't remember if the menu said there would be. I didn't complain because my friend was enjoying her food so much I didn't want to spoil her experience but my salad was a waste of money in so many ways. I did appreciate that they gave my friend a muffin because it was her birthday. I have attached a picture I took of my salad. If I ever go back , I'll stick with the French onion soup.

I love Mimi's Cafe in Monrovia. The breakfast, lunch and dinner are really good. Service has always been good. I love the bacon avocado omelette. Ambiance is relaxed, happy and enjoyable. I do recommend doing a bathroom renovation. Also, having the music in the kitchen a little lower so guests won't hear it.

***** READ THIS ****** Mimi's Cafe is like that reliable friend who never changes--and thank goodness for that. I've been coming here for years, and somehow, the food always tastes exactly how I remember it: warm, comforting, and just plain good. The quality? Steady as a rock. The service? Still top-tier. Big shoutout to Zaida, our waitress, who was an absolute gem--friendly, fast, and on top of everything without ever making us feel rushed. She deserves a muffin medal. Mimi's has truly stood the test of time. While the world spins into chaos (and trendier brunch spots come and go), Mimi's just keeps doing its thing--and doing it well. Long live the omelets, the muffins, and that cozy, vaguely French countryside charm. has always been my go to for breakfast. It never fails to leave me and my family completely satisfied I

The 1/2 French dip sandwich. And a baked potato.
    Janice M.

Mimi's what happened to you? Your food used to be good, plentiful and reasonable for what you got. Today we (husband and I) both ordered the French dip. Talk about a chintzy meal. $16.99 for a half of a sandwich and 1 side. Are you kidding me? The menu showed a full sandwich, cut in half like normal. Far from what we received. To top it off, we ordered salads, which we never got, but we did receive a basket of 4 burnt slices of a very small French bread. What a disappointment.

Could somebody post the Holiday Menu? Thanks.

Their turkey dinner is delicious. The waitresses and waiters are professional and they did their job, but they were not especially friendly. It is a little bit pricey, but this is a problem everywhere at every restaurant now days. Good atmosphere.

Is mimis open for pick up during quarantine?

It is open for indoor & outdoor dinning. Outdoor dining is in the shade, but the weather is so hot now in Monrovia, we think indoor dining is a much better choice. They have a lot of tables indoors. A good place. We ate there a month ago in 08/2021.

My 3rd restaurant visited and stamp acquired. Nice! I have previously visited Moffett's twice for take-out only. My most recent visit was for dine-in. Interior has a quaint country home diner feel to it. Lots of inside bench and stool seatings. Desiree was my server. She was exceptionally attentive and made sure I got what I needed at all times. Thanks Dez! Here is their free food offering... 1 Chicken Pot Pie and 1 Slice of Dessert Pie for dine-in only. Wow, that's a great food and dessert combo! Thank you Moffett's! In addition to the chicken pot pie and slice of peach pie (my choice of fruit), I also got their Moffett's Melt with turkey (they offer chicken, too) plus homemade chicken noodle soup (you could get salad instead). Just one word, DELICIOUS! Food came out pipping hot. Flavors were amazing! Chicken pot pie had dark meat which I prefer. Good size and lots of moist and tender chicken chunks. It was covered with too much gravy though. I'll ask for the gravy to be on the side next time. As for the pie, it was okay... too much filling and not enough peaches. Crust was the highlight of the pie... very light and flaky with just enough sweetness! PERFECTION! Moffett's Melt had fresh lettuce and tomatoes with lots of crispy bacon strips and sweet turkey slices... highly recommend! Love the chicken noodle soup... so many chicken chunks! VERY GOOD! So glad I got a chance to dine-in. I look forward to future dine-ins and take-outs. Come check out Moffett's and support your neighborhood's family restaurant!

I had the following for dinner: For an appetizer, I had the spiced meatballs. They were absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and had an amazing sauce. I also got to try the calamari, which was equally as incredible. For the entree, I had the bacon wrapped filet. Again, cooked to perfection and the taste was wonderful. The side was definitely not quite right. I got the garlic mashed potatoes. They were the most plain potatoes I have ever had. No garlic, no salt, no seasoning. I think they might have accidentally missed the seasoning. For dessert, I tried the bread pudding. It was good; however, I was expecting more from the dessert. Our server was on the face very nice; however, he also was very robotic in his responses. For example, he never let you finish your answer after he asked a question, before replying again and walking away. So overall, an excellent experience. I would return again and give it another try!

Parking is easy enough a block or so away, but finding a close spot is usually hit or miss on Myrtle due to how many restaurants are concentrated in a five block space. I went alone for a quick lunch. Service was exceptionally friendly and generally attentive, though it was a bit of a drag getting my bill settled as the lone server kept getting distracted by other tables and customers. Well, I got the State burger with no pickles and no thousand island sauce. I added bacon for $2.00 and swapped out the potato chips for fries for $1.50. It's happy hour all day until dinner, so the burger was discounted from $16 to $12, which is a good deal. The burger tasted great. The fries were good. The freshness of the lettuce and tomato on the burger actually stood out. I never realized how often you get slightly wilting lettuce at other places until I bit into this super fresh, crisp lettuce. I know that's a weird thing to mention, but it stood out. The only complaint I actually had was the amount of meat used in the burger patty. I think it's very small. They also sell a double smash burger, and I almost felt like this was a smash burger, cause the patty is so thin. It's not, but it's a disappointingly small amount of meat. Still, if you want drinks, it's a lovely looking bar. As I said, service is great. And I will come back for the burger. It's good and cheap, though I would gladly pay five dollars more for more meat. This time the burger was all I tried, but I can recommend. Give it a try for their all afternoon happy hour and the drinks.

We sat at a table by the front window facing the main drag. The area definitely has an old town feel with many restaurants and shops up and down the street. There is also a park right across the street. There is plenty of parking around the corner on the street and in a nearby lot. I started out with the Coughlin's Law cocktail (Aviation gin, house infused vanilla syrup, fresh lemon, egg white, lavender bitters, $16). It was a good light drink with light vanilla and lemon flavor. I always love a good foam top too. She started out with a Basil Paloma (Herradura silver tequila, muddled basil & grapefruit, fresh grapefruit juice, lime, simple syrup, seltzer, $15). It had good grapefruit and basil flavor, and was nicely balanced. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower appetizer ($14). The cauliflower was supposed to be grilled, but it seemed almost raw. The buffalo sauce definitely had a good kick. For my entrée, I had the Black Angus Basin Burger (manchego cheese, carmelized onions, arugula, special sauce, brioche bun, $19). The burger was excellent. The cheese, carmelized onions, and arugula was a great flavor combo. The fries were good, but I'd order them more crispy next time. She had the two taco plate with fish and potato tacos ($15). The taco shells were freshly fried, and it was a filling plate that she enjoyed. We had one more round of drinks and I had the Billionaire cocktail (Old Forrester 100 proof bourbon, lemon, house made grenadine, absinthe, $16). This was excellent. It was very balanced, and not boozy at all with a very light sweetness. Her second was the Smoke and Fire (Peloton de la Muerte mezcal, Ancho Reyes liqueur, muddled jalapeno & orange, fresh lime, agave, chili salt, $15). It was pretty well balanced with a medium smokiness. It definitely had a kick of heat on the finish. Our server Lakyn was friendly and provided good service. The menu prices are cash prices. There is an extra 3.5% surcharge if you pay with a credit card. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer was mostly a miss, but everything else was very good so I'm rounding up to five stars. They have a very good sized cocktail and food menu, as well as many beers on tap. They also have happy hour specials. We would definitely return if we were in the area again.

All the various BJs locations seem to have different specials that rotate. On our visit this time, there was a three course meal pizookie special. There was a choice of soup or salad, entree from a list, and choice of pizookie. We got the pizza, wedge salad, and triple chocolate and chocolate chunk pizookies. All of the food was just ok. None was bad, but none was exceptional either. The best items were the pizookies. On this visit, two servers helped us as the first one went to a different section when the new one came on shift. Both of them were very nice and attentive and offered a quality of service that far outmatched the quality of the food. The restaurant was pretty full already even at about 4:00-4:30 for an early dinner on a Sat and was quite noisy between the talking and background music. The restaurant seems centered on the bar which has decent TVs to watch games. We also got a standard margarita with a salted rim. The quality was also just ok, but we like the way they make them. It was consistent with other BJs locations. This BJs is a nice place to have a casual family meal or hang out with friends in the bar to see a game or just chat. We did not see a happy hour menu or advertisement like at other BJs locations, but perhaps we were just there on the wrong day and time. Still recommending giving this location a try, but maybe try to go a little early like we did to avoid the crowd or a wait--a number of people were already waiting for tables when we left.

Pros: accommodated 12 people Server was ok…read moreAppetizers were good-chips and salsa and macaroni balls Drinks were good Cons: Sat us in a corner where the air was blowing full blast Multiple employees let us know we can only be there two hours and our time starts now! Felt that wasn't necessary to be talked to like a child. Maybe state that at time of reservation? No need to keep being told that we had a two hour time limit. Ordered expensive rib eyes and ugh! They were Dry and rubbery! Chicken fettuccine was cold! The best part was the huge fly buzzing around us for the better half of our second hour. I'm sure the fly wasn't given a two hour time limit ‍ Would not recommend coming here
