    Roasted Half Chicken

I hadn't been to Mimi's Café in over 10 years, so going back for an early Easter brunch with my family felt a little nostalgic--and I'm happy to say it was a pleasant surprise! I ordered the salmon with sweet corn, and it was absolutely amazing. We devoured it. We also ordered a roasted half chicken with garlic spinach, which was unexpectedly delicious, along with fries that rounded out the plate nicely. My uncle ordered the pot roast, and it looked just as good as it tasted, he cleaned his plate completely. The quality of the food really stood out to me. I wasn't sure what to expect after so long, but everything we tried was flavorful and satisfying. While the service could have been a bit more attentive, it wasn't bad by any means and didn't take away from the overall experience and I would definitely return!

As some of us know a lot of Mimi's Cafes went out of business. Sad but true. The one that I used to go to pretty frequently was in Atwater Village close to Hollywood. That one also shut down. As I checked out of the hotel that I was staying at, got very hungry before taking the freeway to head home. I noticed that there was a Mimi's Cafe on Huntington Drive and got super excited to go in. Walked in yesterday around 1:15pm and was greeted by the host named Kevin. He was pleasant, nice and took me to my seat in their main dining room. The restaurant was very clean including both bathrooms and they also have a gender neutral restroom. The manager by the name of Ramiro came by to take my order. He was kind, patient, and had good customer service skills. Knew his job well. On this visit, I ordered their Birria Dip Sandwich which came with Birria beef, melted mozzarella cheese, grilled onions, cilantro, and jalapeños, The sandwich came with a side of crispy French fries on a Ciabatta roll. $18.99. It was super tender, hot, fresh, and made to perfection! I also got a side veggie salad that had lettuce, tomato, & croutons.$4.49. Also very fresh & delicious. For dessert, I got their Carrot Loaf with walnuts.$5.99. My server Kayley was sweet, helpful and did an excellent job serving me. She was quick and efficient. Checked on me few times to make sure I was doing well. The place is very big, has a bar, and beautiful artwork on the walls. Next time I am in the area and craving something from their extensive menu, I will definitely stop by at this quaint restaurant. It also has a nice sized patio. Felt like I was in France. I love and missed my Mimi's Cafe. Thank you Mimi's, Kevin, Ramiro, and Kayley!!:-)) Plenty of parking spaces in this HUGE shopping center!

Food and service is excellent however your bathrooms are disgustingly dirty. The doors where you enter and exit are filthy and could be cleaned easily but haven't been done and years... the pictures tell themselves.. do better ! Use baking soda , vinegar and lemon oil or lemon juice to clean

Don't believe them if there are reservations. It's all just smoke and mirrors.

Over the years Mimi's Cafes quality and service at this location have gone down hill. I keep going for random dinners on weeknights. The food isn't as fresh or the quality isn't there. I've tried to give grace over time but today was the icing on the cake. We made a reservation on OpenTable knowing it's a holiday and that some places will be closed and others packed. We figured Mimi's isn't too far from City of Hope, where we would be headed after to see my mom. We arrived and we were told that the wait would be an hour+ since their reservations are all full. I asked why would I be able to make one and they said they allow you to do that even if it's full. I know for a fact that you can turn that off if you're full or unable to take more reservations. So they are making the choice to inconvenience and waste peoples time. As I'm writing this, you can still make reservations ever 15 mins all day even though I was told there are no more reservations for the day. Guess I'll be grabbing something at the hospital while I visit my mom.

Mimi's - Monrovia - dad and I both had the turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and green beans, and cranberry sauce - which was delightful. We also had the tomato basil soup - it was exceptional! - they knocked it out of the park! I also had a glass of the Malbec wine, which was quite good. also, the complementary bread in the table was good almost a sourdough with kind of a cooked in a fire vibe with the burnt edges. Very nice with whipped butter. For dessert, he had the lava cake with ice cream, which looked wonderful and I had the exceptional buttermilk spiced muffin, which I've been coming to Mimi's for for years if you've never had one you have to have it it is uniquely delicious, and wonderful!

When in town always stop here for either breakfast or lunch. Atmosphere is nice and enjoy the menu selections. Service was top notch.

Brown, old lettuce in my Chinese Chicken salad. Bland flavor. Big disappointment!

The ambiance here has always been lovely. The service is usually slow but on January 26th, when I went to take my friend out for her birthday, our server was actually pretty good. I would have chosen a different restaurant but I had a Mimi's gift card and my friend likes Mimi's. My friend had the salmon meal and said it was delicious. I ordered the Chinese chicken salad. The lettuce was browning and the flavor was meh. Usually there is cabbage in these salads but I don't remember if the menu said there would be. I didn't complain because my friend was enjoying her food so much I didn't want to spoil her experience but my salad was a waste of money in so many ways. I did appreciate that they gave my friend a muffin because it was her birthday. I have attached a picture I took of my salad. If I ever go back , I'll stick with the French onion soup.

I love Mimi's Cafe in Monrovia. The breakfast, lunch and dinner are really good. Service has always been good. I love the bacon avocado omelette. Ambiance is relaxed, happy and enjoyable. I do recommend doing a bathroom renovation. Also, having the music in the kitchen a little lower so guests won't hear it.

Food was good and waiter was kind. Only thing service takes a while. I think they were short staffed.

The food was delicious and the server was super sweet. We went around 11a and had brunch. Easy seating.

***** READ THIS ****** Mimi's Cafe is like that reliable friend who never changes--and thank goodness for that. I've been coming here for years, and somehow, the food always tastes exactly how I remember it: warm, comforting, and just plain good. The quality? Steady as a rock. The service? Still top-tier. Big shoutout to Zaida, our waitress, who was an absolute gem--friendly, fast, and on top of everything without ever making us feel rushed. She deserves a muffin medal. Mimi's has truly stood the test of time. While the world spins into chaos (and trendier brunch spots come and go), Mimi's just keeps doing its thing--and doing it well. Long live the omelets, the muffins, and that cozy, vaguely French countryside charm. has always been my go to for breakfast. It never fails to leave me and my family completely satisfied I

The 1/2 French dip sandwich. And a baked potato.
    Janice M.

Mimi's what happened to you? Your food used to be good, plentiful and reasonable for what you got. Today we (husband and I) both ordered the French dip. Talk about a chintzy meal. $16.99 for a half of a sandwich and 1 side. Are you kidding me? The menu showed a full sandwich, cut in half like normal. Far from what we received. To top it off, we ordered salads, which we never got, but we did receive a basket of 4 burnt slices of a very small French bread. What a disappointment.

Could somebody post the Holiday Menu? Thanks.

Their turkey dinner is delicious. The waitresses and waiters are professional and they did their job, but they were not especially friendly. It is a little bit pricey, but this is a problem everywhere at every restaurant now days. Good atmosphere.

Is mimis open for pick up during quarantine?

It is open for indoor & outdoor dinning. Outdoor dining is in the shade, but the weather is so hot now in Monrovia, we think indoor dining is a much better choice. They have a lot of tables indoors. A good place. We ate there a month ago in 08/2021.

The escargot is probably the best I've had. I loved how buttery it was and the snail itself was so fresh and tender. I'd definitely repurchase this on another visit. I even dipped some of the baguette bread (which had the best crunch!) into the butter and it was perfection! For our mains, we got the sea bass with lentils and the Alaskan halibut, and both were prepared perfectly down to taste and texture. Everything about its execution felt very intentional. The halibut was baked with the right amount of breading and the sea bass was pan seared to give that nice crispy texture to the skin. My only critique is I thought the lentils were a bit too overpowering because of the huge quantity, but honestly, everything else was amazing enough that I'm not bothered by it.

Food is always an area that I leave up to everyone's own taste. To me I felt some of the dishes needed more salt but I always enjoy my food from how the chef prepped it so I can try new dishes.

They still have indoor and outdoor seating. Near open on a weekend, they were not very busy and it was quiet like on our last visit. The lady who took care of us sad that she is the sister of the owners. She was super nice and very attentive. We got the quiche Lorraine and a banana-Nutella crepe again. The crepe had consistently good quality compared to our last visit and is still just as good to comparable crepe places. Still not many places make quiche and of those that do, even fewer make the dense and thick slice pie style MCC makes--which is the good and high quality type. The quiche was actually better than our last visit and while we do not know, it still seeks like they make it on site. You still need lactaide to eat if u r intolerant, but it's definitely worth it. Recommend you get fruit instead of salad with it. Since their food is so rich/caloric/comfort food, we cannot come here too often, but when you are in the mood for a treat, this is a great place to go! Definitely recommend to give them a try!

I've been meaning to try their crepes for the longest time and luckily, I finally found the chance to dine in. I ordered the La Opera breakfast crepe, which came filled with eggs, cheese, onions, and avocado. It had the perfect balance of textures and flavors, with the thin crispy edged crepe cradling the savory filling. I first brought her here when she was just a few months old. Now she's preparing for college. Walking inside feels like stepping into a cozy neighborhood French bistro. White tablecloths, soft neutral tones, chandeliers, and fresh floral centerpieces create a calming and elegant atmosphere. Let's talk about the prices. The menu is still the same, but the prices have increased quite a bit in just a matter of months. If you haven't been here in a while, take a look at the menu before you return so you don't get sticker shock. To me, some dishes is double what I remember paying. At the same time, the portions are a little smaller. One thing to keep in mind: La Vie is only open for dinner, from 5:00 PM. to 9:00 PM. I also highly recommend making a reservation. The dining room fills up quickly, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings, so planning ahead will save you the long wait or perhaps being sent away. Dinner time. Every entrée comes with a house salad, soup of the day, and complimentary coffee or hot tea. As I order hot tea everywhere I eat, that little perk is heaven. For our appetizer, we shared the Escargots de Bourgogne ($19). The escargot was fresh, tender, and chewy. Every piece soaked up the garlicky herb butter. They also provide complimentary Vietnamese baguette. The baguette arrives warm with a lightly crisp crust and a soft, fluffy interior. But the real magic is dipping it into the bubbling garlic butter from the escargot. For my entrée, I ordered the Herb Butter Lobster Tail ($56). The presentation was beautiful, but the lobster itself didn't quite live up to the presentation. It was bland. My daughter ordered the Pan-Seared Chilean Sea Bass ($46), and that ended up being the star of the evening. She loved it. The skin was crisp while the fish remained moist, flaky, and buttery. For dessert, we ordered the Crème Caramel (Flan). The server told us the chef offered it on the house due to presentation reasons. But I strongly believe it was because when they asked if my daughter and I were new customers, since they had changed owners, I told them I had been coming to this restaurant for over two decades, and that I brought my daughter here when she was still in a stroller. The owners may have changed, but I believe the chef is the same and he probably recognized me. Either way, it was a great treat. Thank you. The flan was silky smooth, creamy, and topped with a rich caramel sauce that wasn't too sweet. The servers have always been attentive, professional, and welcoming. Our dinner for two came to about $160, including tax and a 20% tip. See you in my next Yelp adventure.

The French onion soup was warm and decadent while the beef was tender and seasoned well. The pot de creme was a generous portion and I couldn't even finish mine! Which was too bad because the dark chocolate paired with the chantilly cream was exquisite. While I have absolutely no complaints about the food, I do wonder when they will address the ventilation issue. We dealt with this in the past and thought nothing of it but when we started sweating into our first course because no air was coming by, we realized it was a problem. Additionally, the service was impeccable. Kinan and the team did everything they could to make us feel welcome. However there was a young hostess with pink hair and the most beautiful, ethereal face who upon our arrival looked at us with an expression of disapproval. I could've been just reading her wrong or she could just be one of those Gen Z people who refuse to smile and just want to be transactional but I don't know...in such cramped quarters, everyone's nonverbal cues are thrust upon you. I really enjoyed their Mushroom risotto which I found to be the best I've had. Their Mozzarella tomato pasta (I got as a gnocchi dish) was simple but perfectly cooked. They also give some free bread. My kids split Nonna's meatball pasta, which they both devoured. Can't wait to come back. They also have pick up, can order online through their website.

The most charming part of what we experienced what the gentleman at the front door and his cute little jokes. What followed was less humorous. The customer service was severly lacking . From the first person who approuched our table, who from what we guess was a host with a horrible thick Italian accent trying to sell us up on the chef's current overpriced specials, to the unknowledgeable wait staff their customer service was a joke. The food was average at best. We ordered the Oxtail Tagliolini ( a suggestion by the "host?") and the Al Salmon Pasta. The salmon wasn't as good as our usual spot Di Pilla's Italian Restaurant and the oxtail was riddled with small bones which made for a very cautious eat. Just be prepared when reading Yelp reviews and think twice when you see 5 stars.

Food 4/5 Pork Meatballs $21 - Best meatballs I've ever had. Full of flavor but a little too salty. Local Wild Mushrooms $24 - Standard, nothing too special. Beets $18 - Refreshing, to the point. Caramelle $27 - My favorite of all the pastas but expensive for very little pieces of pasta and a meatless dish. Full of flavor, lots of oil. Rigatoni Timballo $32 - Delicious, standard. Duck Confit Rotolo $31 - My personal dish which turned out to be my least favorite. Meatballs and Caramelle were my top favorite, secondary are the beets. Prices are not unexpected for the area but are pretty high for what is really given to you. Service 3/5 We sat outside and they were pretty slow to bring water and take our orders. Ambiance 3/5 It was a really lovely time to eat outside but the lights were broken and it was SO dark, there were no added lights to the table. It was impossible to read the menu.

We ended up staying until about 9:30 p.m. and never felt rushed or pressured to order more. Definitely coming back with less picky people

Waiter Manuel. This…read moreis a review reflected on you, solely. Being kind is the moral of the story, from the beginning you were passive agressive with your comments and tone. Being in a party of 4 girls coming from high tea, we were dressed in elegant dresses, first comment was asking if we were coming from church, followed by eye flutters, short "okay" with an upward inflation to a joke about the day, an impatient comment about hurrying up and trying the wine while we were talking, asked for water when we were out, were left to pour the rest of our wine, didn't ask how the food was all the while was attentive to the table behind us, the cherry on top comment was when we were discussing the bill at the end, he was hovering at the table behind ours, then when we were ready, we asked to split the bill into 2, my portion on mine and the rest on another card, he then said "this isn't like a drive through, we can't do it that way" so I asked him to explain his comment, cause it was passive agressive and rude. After he wasnt able to becuase he wasnt expecting me to call out his rude comment, I had to then break it down and specify what I had ordered, he then sold "okayyyy....so how much, cause we don't itemize?" I had to again express for him to specify how they do it cause he has still yet to explain where his attitude is coming from and explain how they do their check splits, from my understanding it just felt like he wanted to play dumb and make me to the math, one I did he was like "ohh, okay" should have asked for the manager but we paid and left, I hasnt had this experience before being a returning customer, but he needs an attitude adjustment as his attitude was completely out of pocket. Do better Manuel, you alone got your place of work a 1 star. The rest of the staff was kind, facility beautiful and food and wine was good. This restaurant is not reflected in the 1 star.
