This breakfast at MImi's was as good as it gets. The corned beef hash was made from scratch and the blueberry muffin was superb, good coffee and my wife's egg white omelet was one of the best she has had.But the best thing about this visit was the service. The food was ok but bland for the type of restaurant this is. I was disappointed as I expected something more to tickle my pallet. Anyway, our waitress was very inexperienced. Brought us bread before drinks & no silverware after we received our salads we stole the silver from another table. For the price I expect to receive alot better service. IE I had to aske 3 times for one refill on my coffee. Totally unacceptable. I haven't been back there as an overall experience I was disappointed. read more

I used to really like Mimi's Cafe. Something has changed. We should have known when we showed up on Saturday night at 7:30 and there were not many cars in the parking lot. My friend told me several months ago that Mimi's Bouillabaisse was really good. It is way across town from us, but we finally came and I was disappointed to find that Bouillabaisse is no longer on the menu. The waitress recommended one of the features of the day, Skewered Scallops. They came with scalloped potatoes and a salad. The scallops were on skewers, not sure why the cook doesn't take them off. But they were barely warm and seemed precooked and perhaps microwaved? There was nothing yummy about these scallops, so disappointed. They didn't come with any kind of sauce, I requested lemon butter sauce. At least that was warm. The scalloped potatoes were ok, the salad was somewhat wilted. My husband ordered chicken Parmesan and he enjoyed it. But, it is definitely not the wonderful restaurant that I remember; we will not be back. read more

I've never had a bad meal here. The menu is huge and there's so much to choose from. Very diverse food, might I add. I do enjoy it here, but if you're expecting top of the line cuisine, Mimi's doesn't fit that description. The food is good, and the portions are huge for the price. We have been to Mimi's a number of times, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have never had a bad meal, though sometimes the service has been slow. Not today: service was fine, and food delicious as always. I always enjoy the food, and the diversity of menu choices. read more

I was treated to Mimi's for my birthday in January. I received complimentary muffins on this first visit. I was so impressed with the service and the ambiance. Great dining in a relaxed atmosphere. I feel like I experienced a little bit of French cafe' dining. Everyone in the party equally enjoyed the food and service. My husband and I stopped here on our way from Tampa to ATL. Ambiance is great, very comfortable environment. We both ordered fish and chips which came with fries and coleslaw. Service was great, house red wine was fantastic. The meal was served quickly and the food was hot. We enjoyed the fries and the coleslaw was good. When we bit into the fried fish (and there was a ton of it) we were sorely disappointed over the fact that it was obviously pre-breaded and frozen. The "cod" had absolutely no flavor. They could have easily cut the serving size down from four planks of fish to three and spring for verified cod fillets and hand bread the fish for a much better end product and come out at the same cost of food. Had lunch today at Mimi's and as usual was really pleased. The food and service were great as usual. My favorite restaurant in the area.

Service was awful, waitress did not explain food , knowing it was our first time , had to ask to have drinks refilled and grab her to get anything else we needed . Bathroom was dirty and out of toilet paper in two of three stalls and the third they just set it on top of dirty toilet container. Over priced 16.99 for half a chicken with small salad on plate and the potato a gratin was a piece of dry potato cut out of a big pan. Would never go there or recommend to anyone. Awful. Have been going to Mimi's for a number of years but never again. Waitress arrived with two cups of coffee which were not ordered, one returned and replaced with tea. In the past they would bring an assortment of tea but times have changed and it has been replaced by their own brand of tea, Not a good move Mimi's. Took a good amount of time for our breakfast orders to arrive. The herbed potatoes were missing the herbs! My poached eggs were not cooked correctly and I decided to forget the entire meal and give up. Ever have a waitress slap food down? Quite the experience today. read more

Mimi's at, one time, was one of our favorite restaurants in Ocala....Over the years it has declined in many ways to cut their costs......This Father,s day Sunday it is quite apparent that Mimi's cost cutting and pricing increase is strongly effecting their customer attendance....Due to a long wait at another restaurant we decided to give Mimi's another try.......No problem in seating....... No wait time. empty tables and booths all over... Service was good and food very good and drinks very good , although all were little pricey for Ocala..No longer coffee & etc while waiting as there is no waiting...No longer bread on the table unless you ask for it....No longer mint candy as you leave...Lacking in overall friendly feeling.....Used to be a manager there by name of Joe, but did not see any management people........ Our first time at Mimis cafe in Ocala. The chicken pot pie was to die for and I have had cravings for it since. The salad was so-so... it could have been better. The waitress was personable and attentive. The room they put us in was super cold and there was a seminar going on at the time which was very distracting and loud. Looking back we should have asked to be moved to another room. All in all I would go back again if for nothing else than that wonderful and delicious chicken pot pie. Worst dinner in two decades. My lady and I had two bites and put down the forks. I had the med fettuccine Alfredo and my companion, chicken crepes. The chicken tasted old and microwaved. The manager defended everything about the food prep etc. Nothing good to say about the experience. read more

We had been fans of MiMi's for years until last week. We had a late lunch in the main dining room that only had 2 other tables with patrons. It took us some minutes to get seated as the hostess was busy behind the bar laughing with the bartender while we waited at her station. Then, we waited 45 minutes for our food, which was a very simple order. My Caesar salad with grilled chicken was disappointing as the chicken was cold and cubed. My companion was served salmon instead of a half grilled chicken. The waitress apologized and brought back a chicken breast, which was incorrect again. She summoned the manager when we said we were leaving. He did a very poor job of correcting our problems and insisted we get boxes to take the food home with no charge. We will not be back because of the inept handling of our problem, lousy service, and so-so food. read more

Dined today with friends. I had the new French pot roast. I didn't want it to end! The meat was so tender that just touching it with a fork broke it apart! The veggies and mashed potatoes and gravy were also mouth-watering! Husband had pot pie, which he devoured with delight! Friends had regular pot roast and meatloaf. They thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. Took home muffins which were also marvelous; so fresh and tasty! We'll be back soon! read more

Just had lunch at Mimi's in Ocala today.. I picked the French dip.. I was very disappointed it was so over cooked.. the waitress said I should put more gravy on it... didn't help much.. Also the fries where burnt pretty bad.. They did offer to replace them or I could have the fruit instead.. I chose that and it was delicious... Had not visited in a while because of just ok food and service. Will not return. Can't speak of the food because never received any. Went Sunday before Memorial day and place was empty, seated right away , waiter asked for drink order ( cocktails and water ). Cocktails came reasonably quickly but no water. We ordered and again asked for water and bread bowl. Wife ordered 3 course special ( soup , entree, dessert) and I ordered chicken sweet /sour. Never saw the waiter again. Turns out he was also the bartender. We finished the cocktails and would have had another but never got the chance. Tracked down another waiter so we could get water and bread. Customer seated next to us we're eating their entree and we had bread/water. After a hour , during which we asked twice about our food , ( don't worry they will run it out when ready)we stood to leave and another waitress standing there with our entree. I asked about the soup and got that blank stare so I said no thanks. Went to the bar to pay for the two drinks and saw my waiter for the first time in a hour. Plenty of sorrys from waiter and manager ( they did comp the drinks) A coupon got us in but even if you offered me a free meal here I would certainly decline. Never again.. I just went to Mimi's in Ocala for the first and last time. I was with my friend (whom recommended Mimi's) my daughter and grand daughter who's 5. We were seated promptly which was great. When the waitress brought our drinks on a tray it was held over my grand daughters head with hot coffee that could have easily been spilled on her. I got over that. Then we ordered simple pancakes and fruit. After waiting over 70 minutes and watching other people come in and get there food, and asking twice if there was a problem we still had no food. We decided to leave. On the way out I had to find the so called manager and ask her what was wrong and she advised me that you were running some coupon on eggs Benedict and the kitchen could not keep up. If this was the case then why were other people being served and not us. None of us even ordered eggs Benedict. I can promise you I will never grace your restaurant with my presence again nor will any of my family and friends. I am sure from your managers attitude that she does not care anyway. read more
