This was my very first time going to Mimi's Cafe although I was suppose to go a few times before but it never happened so I'm glad that it did today. Mimi's is a chain Cafe but not fast food, it's fresh delicious homemade American-French comfort food. They have homemade muffins and croissants that are baked on site daily and entrees that are French inspired. They are known for their French onion soup, sauces, chicken pot pie, French pot roast, carrot raisin nut bread, eggs Benedict, their famous 5 way grilled cheese, quiche Lorraine, Pain Perdu ( French toast ) and so many other fabulous dishes. They have vegetarian and gluten free options available. The service is wonderful and attentive, they are always there ready to refill your cup and ask if you need anything. It's clean and comfortable with plenty of seating. If the weather is nice feel free to sit outside there was seating in front and it looked inviting. Making the choice for a little more refined breakfast on a Sunday morning, my wife and I selected Mimi's Cafe on 200. We'd been here for lunch and dinner before, but never breakfast. It was very clean and quiet. My wife had the stuffed French toast Grand Breakfast and I opted for the Breakfast Burrito. I asked for onions with my breakfast potatoes. The burrito, to be honest, was fine. I'd say very pedestrian, actually. When I think burrito, I guess I expect to have a little bit of flavorful taste. It was an omelette in a flour tortilla. The brisket was just...meat. A little disappointing, but nothing wrong. Just meh. The stuffed French toast was amazing, though. The orange marmalade was not overpowering, so concerns of it being too much were unfounded. The eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. And the pomegranate mimosa was a hit. I realize that I'm not in the majority on my review, but I can only speak from my own experience. My wife and I were at the Pre-Opening Breakfast that Mimi's had in Ocala had and were entirely impressed in all aspects of what a dining experience should be. Over the years we have periodically had their morning, noon and evening meals. In my opinion if you could look at a graph of what the experiences have been, I would have to say the the graph line would be a very gradulal decline in almost all of the attributes of a restaurant. Food quality and Atmosphere (including decor). The one quality that has remained pretty stable is the service. I think the staff tries to do the best they can with what they have to work with, excluding the cooks. The food is no longer prepared with the care that it once was. Mimi's if you are listening, its time to upgrade your furnishings and to raise your standards in the Chef's/Cooks that you hire. Yesterday's breakfast was again, a dissappointment. My wife had the ham and eggs with sour dough toast. The ham was decent sized, not a lot of flavor but the best part of the breakfast. Her eggs were very over cooked with brown singed edges. The toast was like it was made from stale bread. I had a stack of pancakes which I thought were real decent, it came with eggs which were cooked similar to my wifes and I thought didn't have a good taste. I had two short sausages which were small but good taste. We frequent most of the places around Ocala and most of them would have had a better breakfast for almost half the cost. I was just driving by the area looking for a TELSA CHARGEING STATION AND THE PARKING LOT HAS ONE ! Main reason why we had lunch at Mimi's ! The restaurant is interesting, almost very formal in a causal way, it's a bistro! The food was very bland and plain or at least what one of my sisters got and myself. One of my sisters got the a Turkey sandwich, which she said was delicious ! My other sister got a burger and said it was good. On the other hand I got the jambalaya with pasta and it was very bland, i've been to New Orleans, and no jambalaya tastes like the one in New Orleans lol. I was thinking if I got it with rice, would it have been better ?!?!?!? My other sister got the tomato basil soup and it didn't taste like anything either ! We are Hispanic girls who eat foods rich in seasoning flavor etc .. The bread pudding was GOOOD! Moist and full of flavor so happy about that . We have been to Mimi's a few times and always found the service and food to be very good. However, we have always had a problem with seating and have never been made to feel welcome. Most recently, we arrived about 4:00 pm and the restaurant had very few patrons and instead of seating us promptly, the host made us wait while she studied the seating chart. After studying the chart and despite the fact that most booths were empty, she took us to the least desirable seats with hard backed uncomfortable chairs. When we told her that we would prefer a booth, she gave us a noisy booth opposite the door to the kitchen. This was typical of how we have been treated each time we have gone there. I could understand if we had arrived when the restaurant was busy, but we always dine out early when the restaurant is not busy. I could give them 5 stars if only they learned how to make us feel welcome. read more

Friendly greeting upon entering & being seated. Very pleasant server but a bit slow to check back with us during meal to see if we needed refills on coffee or ? Meals? I ordered citrus salmon...the salmon was quite a nice size & cooked perfectly but I was disappointed with the tiny bunch of greens with some very mushy (probably frozen) chopped fruit...it was not pleasant at all. Friends ordered a salad which she liked very much & another had soup & 1/2 French dip type sandwich which she said was also good. More upscale and intimate compared to some of the larger breakfast places. Happy to find out they also serve lunch and dinner. We were invited to dinner last night with friends and ended up at mimi's Cafe. Finding the parking lot can be confusing at night. Entering from 200 you have to pass mimis to stop sign, then turn left and go around the building to enter the parking lot. Once inside we were quickly greeted and taken to our table. The have a nice variety of dishes on the menu and most everything sounded good. I ended up ordering a tuna melt with fruit bowl and my wife had the cranberry turkey salad sandwich. The waitress was very attentive, informative and friendly. Our food came out after a short time and it looked as delicious as it sounded. We both enjoyed our meals as did our friends. I forget what they ordered, but they are regulars at mimi's, so you know the good and service is pretty darn good. Will we go back to mimi's? Most definitely. This was my third time there and won't be my last. I recommend checking them out if you're ever in the college road area and are hungry. read more

We got our first Door Dash delivery from Mimis Bistro the other night, the driver got lost and that was the beginning of a terrible meal! The driver was not late, so that did not effect the quality of them. I got Tuscan chicken, husband got half chicken. Both chickens were tough, dry and tasteless. The Tuscan one, a joke, cold canned artichokes, soggy tomatoes and no herbs to be noticed. The half chicken was dry, tough and not seasoned. The kicker was we ordered croissants... $3.99 we figured, our fault, we would get at least 2 although it said croissant, that for $3.99 ir couldn't be one! A Manager who never talked to me or took my order was the one who reduced the tip and rating of the server and this establishment. I cannot stand when my server smells like a cigarette. If they are going to smoke at least use a mint or something else. The food was okay went in with my boyfriend got the wrong order of crepes. So first time at a Mimi's Cafe. The atmosphere was very nice, almost like a nice Italian restaurant. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The omelet was not your traditional omelet. It was almost like they put the egg in the pan and put all the ingredients on top and then left it to cook. The buttermilk pancakes were very light and fluffy. The food was not bad.
