Mimi's is Mimi's. This location is not as, "French Decored out" as the Phoenix Locations. ( good thing) The food is good but horribly overpriced and there is always a long wait. They do have to die for muffins (Carrot Raisin) and they are known for their French Onion soup. I have already written a review on the Phoenix locations but wanted to write a review today on this location. The service was so wonderful that I had to give them a shout out, Kudos, and a big thumbs up on Yelp. Thank you for helping us today eat at your establishment. Not bad for the area, but overall it's just ok. We stopped in for an easy lunch and were left feeling satisfied....not overly and not unhappy. The service was definitely lacking and the wait staff seemed either overworked, confused or both. We all started with a cup of French Onion soup that seemed to take forever to come out (rather odd for soup, especially one that supposedly is one of their staple dishes). The soup itself also was a little on the bland side and kind of disappointing. For the actual meal I ordered the French Dip sandwich which was pretty good and nicely cooked. The only drawback with it was the side of 'horse radish' was really a creamy horseradish flavored spread. Not exactly the best touch. Great variety of food and breakfast. Very good chicken Parmesan, fish, chicken and hamburgers and some other unique dishes and muffins. All delicious with the variety like Cheesecake Factory. Also wonderful desserts and pies. And to top it off for Tesla owners the supercharger is right outside. read more

Great Food! Mostly Homemade from scratch and you can taste the difference with the first bite! My Boyfriend had the turkey plate and said it was delicious! I had the chicken cordon blue on ciabatta roll. Yummy! They are hand cut and not frozen! They are delicious too! Service was fantastic and our waitress, Katelyn, was very sweet, attentive, informative and on the ball with refills! Stopped in because we drove by it at lunch time and said what the heck. Was pleasantly surprised, it was not what I had expected. Kids loved looking at all the stuff on the walls. The service was OK. Everyone enjoyed the food, but I can not recall what we had. I do know that I will try the wraps next time I go. They look great. We got two cupcakes to share and they were great! My husband and I visited Mimi's Cafe in Ocala, FL and had a delightful experience from start to finish. we were promptly greeted and seated. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely, and the service was excellent. Lisa M was a great waitress and made us feel welcome and comfortable. We have been going to Mimi's since it opened. However, Regretfully so I do not think we are going back. This is the second time we noticed that it has not been up to par so to speak. Service was short handed again although the waitress tried to take care of her tables which were many. The food was not the quality as once was and the Quiche Lorraine was skimpy on the ham and filling. Needless to say they eliminated the side salad and replaced it with a slice of tomato and a few leaves of lettuce. UGH. The charge for "soda water" was out of order where most places do not charge. The bread basket was only of two strips of bread. Sorry to report the enclosed, however, I am a former chef and am disappointed in the changes. This was once the most quaint place to go with great food and service. We will not return. ;( read more

Where do i begin... Our server barely came to check on us, the first refill on my sweet tea was unsweet tea. Tried to get the attention of the waiter and never acknowledged... didn't come to check on us until 20 minutes later. Business was not busy but took forever for the meal to arrive at table ( 2 entrees) and the salad came with the entrees instead of before the entrees. The manager uninterestedly came over for about 2 seconds to ask if everything was ok but at this point it was towards the end of the meal and the service was horrible. Was seated by the kitchen and our server went by our table several times between the time we ordered and time the food came out and did not even acknowledge the fact drinks were empty and noticed the waiter hovering in the kitchen touching his hair. Not to mention, observing the fact that other servers in our section were constantly checking with their customers, displaying great customer service. It is truly aggravating to expect even average service when dining out, and its way below par. Please train your employees to be more observant! read more

We winter in Ocala, FL and Mimi's has been one of our favorite restaurants here for several years. At that time I believe the chain was owned by Bob Evans. they had wonderful, numerous and unique menu options and the food was always very good. This winter we went there with friends on Dec 10, 2013 and were very disappointed! The menu has fewer options and the food was certainly not what we had learned to expect from Mimi's. Mimi's was sold last spring to a European firm and the menu was changed. We found those changes were not for the better. We will be taking Mimi's off our list of favorite restaurants. read more

I went for a nice dinner, or so I thought, I got the roast turkey dinner, and ask if the potatoes had garlic in them (as many places now have garlic mashed potatoes). the waiter said no... and for my other side" broccoli sautéed in butter". when my order came the Broccoli was covered in butter and yes Garlic. I sent it back, and the waiter said that they could do it with Butter ONLY no garlic. it came back a few minutes later...no butter, but still a garlic taste......The cook had just washed off the garlic on the broccoli I sent back, threw it on the grill for a few minutes and sent it back to me. YES the same Broccoli , there was no mistaking the strong garlic taste and lack of butter. I ask for a manager and all she had to say was..."well, they shouldn't have done that", NOT even denying that they had probably done it. then she just walked away.... read more

I have always loved this place. Had a few issues. Nothing major. Would love for the eggs Benedict to be available all the time. Received our food kind of slowly but the waitress and staff were apologetic and very good with my son. With it being busy almost every time I go, I expect to wait. This most consistently good restaurant we've found in Ocala! Peak times incur some waiting so we generally wait and eat in the bar area with Andrew as bartender/server. Love to take our visitors to Mimi's - something for everyone and a nice atmosphere. Service can be a bit slow, but not the fault of server. Too much for one person when bar is busy! I found the food to be okay. I had the Reuben sandwich with soup and salad. What really turned me away from this place, was I left expensive earbuds on the table and it was not returned. I had called and asked if they'd be willing to check their footage. She informed me she doesn't have cameras in the dinning room. My mother had taken pictures while we were there and in the photos you can clearly see the headphones on the table. Won't be returning. The Ivy House is a much better choice on the square. This was my first time dining at Mimi's cafe. My dining experience was different. My server, Samantha, did an incredible job. She made sure I was well taken care of. I ordered the ribeye, rare, with garlic butter and sautéed mushrooms. In addition to the steak, I ordered sautéed spinach and potatoes au gratin. The food was subpar to say the least. Half of the steak was so over cooked that it was difficult to cut with a knife, and the other half was somewhat edible. Keep in mind I ordered rare. Now one would expect with a garlic butter that it would be placed on the steak to melt, this was not the cases the mushrooms were placed on the steak before the garlic butter, the result ended with a huge scoop of butter on top of the mushrooms. The spinach was hardly cooked, more like a warm spinach salad instead of sautéed. The expo manager brought me out some that was actually cooked correctly. The potatoes were hard and undercooked. I let my server know after I finished what I could of the meal, that the food did not live up to expectations. She went and grabbed the kitchen manager, Rich, and he came out to speak with me. Rich and I had a nice conversation and kindly offered to comp my steak, not what I was after at all, I just wanted to let the kitchen know of my food so others would not have the same experience. That was a nice surprise, especially since I requested to allow me to pay the full price of my meal. After speaking to Rich, I ordered a vanilla latte and creme brûlée which was the highlight of the meal. I will be going back to Mimi's despite the experience with the food, due to Rich, and Samantha. Mimi's has been a great place to eat since their menu change in Sept. 2017. However, another new menu was introduced last month, and a significant change was made to one of our favorite items: the hibachi plates. This dish is a mix of stir-fried vegetables and shrimp, salmon or chicken, served with either rice or pasta. Until recently, the veggie mix was carrots, celery, mushrooms, onion, red and green peppers, broccoli, and green beans. The new mix leaves out the carrots, celery, mushrooms, and most of the onion, and substitutes summer squash and grape tomatoes. The bigger variety of crisp julienned vegetables had much more flavor! I hope they consider going back to the other mixture. read more

I thought I'd give it another try, thinking maybe my bad experience was related to the location. Nope. Mimi's is always consistently great! I usually get the grilled salmon, but tonight I tried something a little different -- an egg-white veggie omelette -- it was amazing! Delicious! Wow this place is really good. I had a turkey crêpe lunch with salad. It really was fantastic. And the muffins are to die for. This is a New Orleans style theme restaurant that takes it very seriously. Sign up for their email updates and you get a free box of muffins too. Best of all the prices were quite moderate $11 for my lunch and my friends lunch was about the same. Both were excellent! read more

Convinced by a friend to come back to this location for breakfast. Never again. Service was so-so at best. Had to go get our own silverware. Had to ask for coffee refill. Cheese omelet was bland. Came with a side of "home fried potatoes." Told the waitress to tell the cook that they were terrible. Potatoes that had been boiled and then tossed on the grill to warm up. Again no flavor. Beyond the omelet and potatoes nothing else comes with this meal....no toast, biscuit, etc...pretty slim for a pricey menu item. read more

Okay,so I was teased by the blueberry muffin (not to mention the bearer of such delights!). Had to see for myself what all the huppla was about. Grand opening Thursday night, last. Beyond words, especially for Ocala. Lots of people, happy stuffing their faces with huge portions (be sure and split an entree, if you want to keep that girlish figure). The Black and Bleu Casadia was filled with chunks of blackened chicken and blue cheese AND bacon. Yummmmmy. Cold cole slaw on the side added just a little of that All-American touch. Great coffee and Joe, the manager, God Bless him, brought over a muffin and tried to satisfy my cravings. Didn't work, but that's another story. Oby, our wonderful wait person, was so charming. Many congratulations for her acceptance into LSU Dental School. Sorry she won't be at Mimi's after August, but I plan to see her lots between now and then. I am sure this place will be a huge success. A man at the bar told me the story of Mimi's: started in Annaheim, California, right across from Disney Land.
