My wife and I drive from Auburndale to the N 98 location for the best homemade gelato I've ever had. Don't believe the recent negative reviews. They are coming from a disgruntled people from a neighboring restaurant giving her a hard time because they want to park their crappy bikes on her sidewalk. Awesome spot for dairy free, gluten free, sugar free folks as well as those that have no dietary restrictions. We go here because the whole family loves it and can eat it. They change up the flavors often. The staff is attentive, friendly, and helpful. You get two free samples. You can't go wrong with the Italian ice, gelati, milkshakes, or ice creams. A wicked hot July afternoon inspired a trip to "Mimi's Ice Cream" to discover her offerings. This shop is unique due to its handmade selections of dairy-free, sugar-free & vegan options. They are mostly served in 1,2,3 scoop options. There is a small seating area but most take theirs to go. The Italian ices do have sugar plus flavoring, often natural fruit pieces. Two scoops I think ran $5.45. They're smaller scoops but just right for a treat, a little brain freeze and lots of flavor! The scooper was very knowledgeable, helpful & friendly. I chose raspberry Italian ice over Irish Cream (non-dairy). Both were refreshing though I didn't find the Irish Cream very flavorful. My friend got Raspberry Italian Ice w/Coconut Italian Ice, & a third pal got Blueberry Italian Ice over Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream, finding everything refreshing & flavorful. They had 16 flavors "on tap", and change flavors often. A little fruity energizing and we were good to go! I'm ready to return for the coffee caramel flavor! I am new to Lakeland and every place I have explored since moving here in the past few months have been kind and welcoming except this place. Tonight I decided to try this place out for the first time. I had a long drive back home and dropped her before heading back. I had my small dog. I walked in carrying her in my arms. I wanted to look at what they had and the owner behind the counter didn't even say help. He immediately said the dog has to go. No dogs. He was so rude to me. I responded with ok can k just take a quick glance at what you have and I'll go out my dog in the car and come back and order. He didn't ear me because all he kept doing is repeatedly talking over me saying over and over "no dogs, no dogs" and didn't even stop to hear what I asked him. He made the whole situation so frustrating. I said did you even hear what I said and asked since all you have been doing is talking over me. I repeated and then his response was oh yeah you can put your dog in your car. I said ok just looking at what you have real fast. He continued to say no dogs no dogs. There wasn't anyone in the shop by me and him and finally a coupled walked in. I just replied fine forget it. You have been so rude on how you handled me. His response was "ok bye". I said wow are you the owner which I figured he was at how rude he was. He didn't care if he lost a good customer. He has plenty so being rude to me wasn't a big deal to him. He didn't need to be courteous or show any customer appreciation. When he replied he is the owner I said I figure from how rudely and unprofessionally you handled the situation amd his really was "good night" as to basically say get out of her already. I left and I saw him with his ands up in the air talking about me to the couple that hurt came me. He was talking and complaining about me to these people. I don't care how good a product might be, people should be important. He was rude. No one has ever acted this way. I have taken my dog into countless places and if anyone didnt allow he they would say it nicely and apologize and I understood. This man was so unreasonable and rude and talking over me and telling me to leave in so many words. I didn't even get an opportunity to try the Italian ice cream but left with a very bad taste in my mouth. I won't spend my money in a place with an owner like this. The man was just a nasty individual and the owner at that. I guess at this point he doesn't have to be kind to anyone. Greed does this to people. read more

I was surprised by all the flavor options, I chose a 3-scoop cup with Tropical (mango, pineapple, and coconut) and Strawberry. I wish I took a picture of it! The Italian ice was so good, probably the best I have ever had! I loved that it had real fruit pieces in it like chunks of mango, strawberry seeds, and tiny coconut pieces.
