Since we had such a great experience last visit we went back this past weekend. This visit was not a pleasant one. We were told to sit at table 2, which is a huge booth, second from the window. I "took one for the team" and sat with my back to the window which also happened to have 2 young kiddos sharing our bench back. They were probably around 6 and 8 years old. Dad was seated with his back to the front window. It wasn't that crowded when we arrived, maybe 4 tables occupied, including ours. We were finally acknowledged and brought some menus. We already knew we wanted what we had the last time, so we immediately ordered while she was there. Hubby and I wanted the same thing, so I gave the order (eggs over easy, hash browns, bacon and pancakes) and he said "times 2"! Easy peasey. The table in the booth was so far away from both of us. I get it - the world's population has expanded in size/girth and a booth has to be big enough for patrons to get in. Hubby and I are not that big, but I had to do ab crunches to reach the plate. It seemed like forever waiting for our food. Probably because of the constant movement on my seat back or dear old dad coaching his son and daughter to take a bite, eat some more of this, try that,... etc. His constant commands to eat were ridiculous. Poor kids! Our food finally arrived, and the bacon and the hash browns were cooked but not crispy at all. I decided I would take the bacon home and crisp it up in my air fryer oven the next day for breakfast. The eggs were over easy as ordered. I like to mix crispy hash browns into them but that was not to be. I took the pancakes home along with the remaining bacon and they were much better reheated at home the next day. It took a long time to get our check and a to-go box. They were definitely a lot more busy by this time, but it still took way longer than it should have, since no one checked back in on us. I didn't take any pics on this return visit. Sadly, I won't be in any hurry to return because the food was just so/so this time. read more

I came for brunch and left with a new personality: "person who will absolutely be back next weekend." First of all, the food? Illegal. I'm pretty sure my blueberry lemon French toast violated several laws of physics by being both fluffy and dense at the same time. The service was amazing too. Our server somehow knew exactly when we needed more coffee, emotional support, and another round of "we deserve this." 10/10 would recommend. I have had many of their breakfast items, but the Ribeye Steak tacos are my favorite. The waiter will ask you if you're okay with all the things that come on it... eater beware - the jalapeños are really hot! So, if you don't like heat, have the waiter remove them. I began my order with coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. The orange juice came in a frosted mug and was delicious. Nothing beats fresh squeezed orange juice. The coffee was very good. And just as a bonus they actually have Stevia. The waiter's name is Malik. When I ask him for recommendations, he gave me honest and fair recommendations. I really appreciated that. I've been to several places where I ask for a recommendation and I am told everything is good. That's very unhelpful. I ended up ordering the Tex-Mex skillet. Well, I just finished the TexMex skillet. It was friggin delicious. The buttermilk pancakes were OK, and the toast was delicious. However, just as a personal preference, I prefer my toast to be completely slathered with butter. I had to add three packs of butter to completely fill the toast with butter. However, this will not stop me giving a five star review. The ambience is comfortable, mostly grays and whites. There are eight tables that see four people each and 10 booths that seat four people each. I can imagine it gets quite tight on the weekends. However, on a Thursday morning it was easy to get a table and there was no weight for the food to come out. Overall, this was a great experience and I'm glad I stopped here for breakfast. read more

A great breakfast option in the area. I've been driving by this cafe whenever I go to my Filipino spot. Decided to come in today while in the area. Greeted right away as soon as you walk in. I decided to try their chilaquiles and it was as I expected it. Tasty, a hint of spice and very hearty. They also served freshly squeezed orange juice a multiple flavors of agua frescas. The staff are friendly and very attentive for everything that you needed to make your dining experience a great one as a first timer. I failed to get any photos but had a great experience at Mimi's Star Cafe on Sunday! Portions are big so you can definitely split most things on the menu (imo) and I loved their coffee!! We got the gluten free pancakes which were delicious, and I also loved their sausage patty. The bacon could have been a little more crisp for me but overall I don't have any complaints. The decor definitely gave cafe vibes with Shakira playing in the background so if a small town cafe is what you're looking for, this is the place! If you're expecting more of an upscale or chic dining experience, this isn't for you. I think the Skillets and the Blueberry Lemon French Toast were the most worth it. The TexMex Skillet was tasty, exactly what you'd expect from a chorizo skillet. The Ultimate Skillet was ok, the flavor was a little bit lacking but the hashbrowns were crispy! The skillet dishes would have more presentation points if they came in actual skillets rather than just plates. The omelet egg portion was a bit more well done than I prefer. The side pancakes were ok, not much buttermilk taste and a somewhat fluffy texture. The Blueberry Lemon French toast was the most special dish and the cream cheese sauce in between the two slices of bread added a nice tang. The lemon curd sauce had some orange marmalade mixed in which gave it more of a citrus vibe than just lemon. The brioche gave a good bite and flavor but the center of the bread was a bit dry because the slices were so thick and the egg didn't soak through all the way. Overall pretty good meal with good portions and great service but there are other options that have better vibes and tastier brunch for the same price. read more

My brother and I love grits but in restaurants they are never good so we don't ever get but he got them today and they were wonderful. Not runny nor were they chunky! I was in town visiting and my brother suggested this place based on the story of the owners and supporting small business is always good especially when you get amazing service.
