Love the food here!! Super delicious and flavorful. I've been here for lunch when they had their buffet and there were so many options! I've also gotten dinner and had a great experience. I especially love their vegetable samosas, paneer makhini, and mixed vegetable pakara. The ambiance inside is also great and the workers are friendly.

Although this branch has been here 19 years, this restaurant is the changing face of Utica and upstate NY with its 6 locations in Utica, Syracuse, Albany, Oneonta, and Clinton. The food has a reputation amongst the South Asian community for it's authenticity. Which is why they cater a very many events. But restaurant it self has atmosphere and decor to match. Today, I placed an order to go. The very kind owner threw in to complimentary entrees. Excellent, authentic cousine, atmosphere, and generous staff. If you've never tried Indian food this is a great place to start.

First time trying Indian food in the upstate NY area, it was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Veggie Samosas (not pictured), garlic naan,Chicken Tikka Masala, & Chicken Makhani (butter chicken). Basmati rice was given with both entrees. Both dishes were very flavorful and just looked/smelled heavenly!

Looking for an Indian restaurant, I am glad I stumbled upon Minar Fine Indian Cuisine. I enjoyed my times here, which were the lunch and dinner buffets. I did not have the chance to try and order off the menu. You're seated as soon as you arrive. There are two dining rooms for patrons with options of dining in, take out, and buffet. Food is consistently decent with a variety of options for the buffet. There are about 8 options consisting of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items with a salad bar and dessert. Spice is essentially gone, but the flavor is throughout like the way Indian food should be. I believe Minar Fine Indian Cuisine downplayed the spice level, which is quite disappointing. Naan is included in the buffet but arrives later than your first plate because it is freshly made! Some items I remember from buffet: Goat Curry (2/5): Not spicy and had much better before. I didn't get this again after trying it my first time. Chicken Tikka Masala (4/5): Delicious like always. I think it's hard to go wrong with Chicken Tikka Masala. Most common dish. Plenty of chicken pieces but went for the sauce to eat with my naan. Chicken Dilbar (3/5): This was decent. Kind of bland in my opinion compared to the other dishes available. Chili Chicken (4/5): This was the spiciest dish out of all but was not for me. It has a slight sweet taste at the end, kind of like sweet and sour chicken. Rice Pudding (4/5): One of the better ones I've tried. Prior to Minar, I tried it at a place where the consistency was not even pudding. It was like soup. Gross. We ordered Garlic Naan, which was delicious! I highly recommend it to dip it in the sauces. Service was good and consistent the times I have been here. My water never touched bottom so kudos to that. Open 7 days a week. Lunch: 1130AM-0300PM Monday to Saturday Lunch Buffet: $9.95 1130AM-0230PM Monday to Saturday 1200PM-0300PM Sunday Dinner: 0500PM-0900PM Monday to Thursday 0500PM-1000PM Friday and Saturday Dinner Buffet: $11.95 0500PM-0900PM Tuesday and Wednesday

I've been here many times, but I haven't been in awhile. I went back today because I was craving for Indian food. It was disappointing. I feel like this place is sometime hit or miss. A few times that I have gone to Minar the food quality wasn't that good. Today was one of those days so I was disappointed. The rice was dry and so was the chicken curry. The fried veggie has been sitting out too long and it didn't have any flavor to it. The only thing that is still good was the rice pudding, mango juice, and mango custard. I probably won't be back for a very long time.

She was looking for advice from me, but I was very happy when the owner came by and said he could select our food and we trusted him.He asked us a few questions about spice level, proteins, etc. He said he would bring us an appetizer, a chicken entree and a vegetable entree. He also brought us 2 hot chai drinks. We agreed it was the best chai we've ever had....it was mildly sweet and the spices were perfect. We were brought as an appetizer...fried cauliflower with a Manchurian sauce which was sweet, mildly spicy and a touch sour..... perfect. We got 4 beautiful veggie balls..... finely minced veggies with paneer in a very creamy sauce. The taste was a little sweet and when eaten on the super hot and fresh naan it was delicious. Our last dish was chicken kebabs, I believe made in the tandoori oven with spices and served with a beautiful sweet, creamy tomato sauce. We didn't ask for dessert but we're brought a complementary rice pudding to share... heavenly! We were checked on several times and water glasses were kept filled. We are both big water drinkers. I was so impressed with both service and food. If I could rate it more than 5 stars, I would do it!!

After taking some neighborhood streets, we arrived at the location and parked in their small lot. There was room for perhaps for 6-7 cars. Each space was labeled for whether it was for the restaurant or not. Entering, we were greeted and seated. We had about 1 hour and 14 minutes before boarding, so the staff were very accommodating and pointed out what could be made quickly (basically everything except their tandoori). They also answered questions about gluten. We ended up getting aloo tikki chaat and a lamb shank masala. They provided chickpea flour crisps with mint-cilantro and tamarind chutney. They also brought us their complimentary chai tea, which was very nice and satisfying. Their chaat was well-balanced, gluten-free (the crispies are made with chickpea flour), and it had pomengranate, chickpeas, and potatoes. The pile was dressed with yogurt, tamarind chutney, and mint chutney. Their lamb shank masala came bone-in with the curry sauce surrounding it. The lamb was well cooked, and mostly moist and tender, though there were parts that were dry. Both dishes were well-adorned, which was a nice touch. Best of all, however, was how exemplary all the staff were at the restaurant. They exuded a wonderful calmness and hospitality. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Syracuse.

So much Indian food outside major metropolitan centers in the US is either terribly underflavored, in a sad attempt to level down to provincial palates, or by contrast overspiced, in the equally ridiculous assumption that you convey authenticity via sheer capsicum, that one approaches a place like this warily. And yet what you have here is delicately-calibrated sauces, food in which you can actually taste individual seasonings and savor their interactions, the way it's supposed to be! Samosas are fresh, crunchy crispy crust rather than the doughy glop for which we so frequently settle, and rice is perfectly fluffy. Lunch servings are just the right size - not the gargantuan american portions that let you know how dubious is the quality of the meat (margins can only be maintained on those stupid portion sizes by sacrificing quality). I won't say this place would get 5 stars in London or Chicago but it's well worth your time if you're in Cooperstown instead.

It's been awhile since we've sat in the restaurant but whenever we do it's always a great experience. Take-out is a different story. When we've ordered on GrubHub we never get a notification stating the food is ready so we just go a little after the specified time it's expected to be ready. I don't know how orders come in from GrubHub but it seems like they don't always see them. There have been numerous times when the food isn't ready and based on the extensive time we have to wait to get the food it it's clear they hadn't even seen the order come in. This certainly isn't every time but it's happened multiple times. Recently we tried using GrubHub and but were having issues with spotty wifi so we called it in instead. They said we could pay when we arrived. I was quite shocked that the order which totaled $40 on Grubhub rang up as $53 in person (see receipts attached). I stated my surprise but their response was to try DoorDash instead next time. If you compare the receipts each main dish rang up about $2 more expensive in person than it did on Grubhub and each appetizer or dessert was $3 more. The quantity of food we received was no different than when we order via Grubhub and when called out for this I would have expected a better response. So if you're interested in picking up take out, NEVER order direct. But if you order through a third party always call to check the food is ready before picking it up so you don't waste your time waiting.
