Stopped by to get our brewery map stamped. Tried some food…read more& it was all great! The beet salad is fantastic The nachos are good with their own twist - my husband loved his carne asada taco. Their hazy ipa is also delicious Fun sitting in the village watching people. Service was nice & they are dog friendly on their patio !

The name Shelter evokes a warm, welcoming space. You've come home. Well, change your expectations…read morehere. It's the least personal space besides Taco Bell that I've been to. Like Taco Bell, you pay in advance. Unlike Taco Bell, you are expected to leave a tip (for service), before you realize you will receive no service. Choose your own seating, call up the QR code (which asks you to enter your phone number, but you can work around that) and then gives you a sterile list for a menu. It's a distillery, but do not talk to the bartender. Order a margarita from the (surprisingly inexpensive) Taco Tuesday menu and it comes with a hard, dried citrus something floating on top that adds nothing to the experience of the drink (but does eliminate the need for the bartender to keep a fresh supply of citrus on hand). Otherwise, the margarita tastes OK. Not great. Your beet salad will not be "dressed" because that would take effort. Instead the dressing will be drizzled across the top and not even really touch the greens. Your burger will probably be tasty, as my husband's was. Your sweet potato taco will probably have too many raw onions across the top but otherwise be tasty as mine was. You will not interact with anyone other than your table companions. Even with his tasty burger, my husband called it a "soulless experience." Because the food itself seems to be decently cooked (though with minimal effort), this may be your spot if you are good with Taco Bell.

Five stars for the food, three stars for the host/ making reservations with a live person…read more Similar to the negative reviews, the host needs training. I called and inquired about a few things and when we arrived, we were told a different story. Long story short, use OpenTable to make your reservations and avoid the headache. Outside Pods- If you're interested in sitting in the pods outside, it's an additional $50-100 (depending on the day) and can fit 6-8 people. We had several kids in our party and they enjoyed the novelty of it. Our waiter Cam was great and made up for the poor service with the host. He had great recommendations as all were spot on. Cam recommended "family style" as many of the entrees are large and it gives you a chance to sample everything. We started with the asparagus summer rolls and tricolore salad. Both were delicious and refreshing. For the entrees we shared the cacio e pepe, margherita pizza, orechiette nero and chicken parmesan. Again, everything was excellent. For dessert, the gelato comes with three huge scoops along with three zeppoles (Italian donuts). The food was excellent and probably one of my new favorites in Mammoth.

I've been here so many times during snow boarding season. My group comes up like once week…read more I'm in town for forth of July weekend. I don't think I'll be coming back. They're on a reservation only policy at the moment and they told me I couldn't place an order to go after 6pm. The food is good. Their policies are unreasonable. If you're up here for a last minute trip I would recommended a different place there are better restaurants that are more accommodating. The only thing this place has going for it is the location. (:

The staff were great and quick brought out food and drinks. We tried the iced chai and iced matcha lattes, both delicious and plenty of milk options which is a plus. For the main we tried the avocado toast, sweet crepe with strawberries bananas and Nutella, and the breakfast burrito with added sour cream. Everything was great, glad to have found a great breakfast spot next time we're in Mammoth!

No other business does this on Reddit. First, service is very slow and pretty haughty. I had to wait 30 minutes for a simple pesto chicken crepe. It tasted disgusting. I got the apple dessert crepe. It was full of little cubes of raw apple that just fell out of the crepe. There was barely any cinnamon or sugar in it. I also got the pesto crepe. There was a splash of pesto and a couple little pieces of chicken. 90% of the crepe is the bread or galette or whatever. The rest (which isn't much) is just thrown in there. At $16 each, this was a complete ripoff, even worse than the usual Mammoth ripoff. The ambiance is pretty good though and they have a nice wine bar area. I could see this place being good for breakfast, but it's not worth spending any more of my money there.
