This is THE place to visit after a busy ski day. LOVE hanging out on the deck on a sunny day with an Epic beer, marg or Mexican coffee. Grab lunch from Main Lodge and bring it out on the deck to eat. The bar service was a trainwreck. Amber and the guy with the attitude need a reminder--they're there to serve drinks, not flex their egos over a physical ID. It's 2024. Digital is the norm. The behavior was uncalled for, unprofessional, and frankly, a waste of time. The only one who seemed to understand customer service was Jordan. Hire better people or give them some customer training. We really love this place and been a fan favorite for over a decade. Been riding Mammoth Mountain for over a decade and this is definitely one of our favorite hangout spots for our pre-skiing. The drinks are pretty stiff, and the bartenders are always very nice to us. It's a pretty small bar area but they have huge TVs in case anyone in the group wants to watch sports. You can also order some food from the bartender as well. I really like the old rustic decor on the wall and it's close proximity to the chair lifts. Easy access and the bathrooms are right behind the walls. Call chill spot. read more

Getting there: Located at the main lodge, this is the outdoor bar that overlooks the mountain. Experience: I love to grab a bloody mary before heading up the lift, but I am always nervous to try new bloodies because "not all bloodies are made the same." To my luck, their drinks aren't half bad. Not thick to where it tastes like just tomato juice, but not over saturated with vodka. Lively, packed bar with friendly bartenders and a daytime rave feel. We were lucky enough to get seats at/near the bar during two visits and got great service. The bar manager is super chill and comped us a round of drinks that one of the bartenders forgot to charge us for that we brought to her attention. Honesty is definitely the best policy! From reading the other reviews, it looks like I'm not the only one that has run into the snobby brats at Tusk's bar. The glasses all had spots of cleaner on them, and when I asked if they could rinse them, they refused and told me I was being ridiculous. Then they over charged me for a virgin bloody, $10 more than the previous day, and only a $5 discount for no vodka. When I complained, they again laughed at me. Then they proceeded to make fun of me to other guests at the bar who turned to look at my son and me. It was very uncomfortable for both of us, and I will not be going back. The drinks here are a good excuse to come up to Mammoth any day of the week! My friends and i came here during St.Pattys's weekend. Two days at this bar gave us a lot of opportunity to sample both hot and cold drinks. And we all agreed the Tusks Bar is the place to be! We ordered the green beer (served only during St.Pattys's day), Peach cobbler, Broadway, Tusks Old Fashioned, Effem Cucumber Press, Cream Soda, Tusks Cinnamon Cider, and the (Sunday) Tusks Bloody Mary. And each drink was given two thumbs up by our group! Savory or sweet, each drink had its own tasty kick to it. My only regret is that we didn't try their St.Patty's Day Special Corned Beef Hotdog. From the people i saw eating them, their happy faces with the "mmmhhh-mmhhh" expressions made me think that it must be good! The staff was very attentive and friendly as well. And bar manager, Kristen, was an absolute delight! She kept our friend who didn't ski/snowboard entertained for a few hours. Awful. I was crazy patient standing in front of the barTender while she tried to get a hook up with some people from Tahoe. Eventually asked if I could just have a draft beer real quick and she said "I'm just having a conversation and then when I am done I will help you." Insane right? Unbelievable. I am an icon pass holder and own high velocity rental property here in mammoth. Will be recommending to all of my guests that they avoid the snobby brats at tusks bar. This is a good place to before skiing, after skiing or in between runs. I particularly like the outdoor deck. There is plenty of seating where you can take a break and people watch. There are a couple fire pits and lounge areas to enjoy drinks and people watch. I'm a fan of Main Lodge mostly because it's less crowded than Canyon. But Tusks is the bro-ier bar among the lodges so there's that downside (or plus depending on who you ask). The outdoor area is pretty spacious so it's usually not too hard to find a place to relax and have a drink. Truth be told, if I'm skiing in this area I much prefer McCoy's Station but regardless, you can't really complain when you're drinking while slopeside. read more

This bar is located in the main lodge on the 3rd floor across from the Broadway Marketplace or food court. It gets pretty crowded, but definitely worth a visit especially after snowboarding, skiing or even just walking about the village. I came for the SHOTSKI! It's a fun, new concept to taking shots with friends or family. There's ski's for groups of three & four. All your shots are attached to the same ski so you all really have to take your shots at the same time. The staff is also very accommodating in taking pictures or videos. If you're so cold that even your gooch is shivering, causing your icicle to clatter against your beheaded snowman, head on over to Tusks Bar and do the following: Order one shot of Rumple Minze and a cup of hot cocoa. Chug it down and keep your mouth closed or else you'll shoot fire through your teeth. Take a couple gulps of hot cocoa as a chaser. Proceed to pound on your chest until it no longer feels like your lungs are being incinerated. Get back on the slopes and try to avoid hitting trees or flying off cliffs while snowboarding. Vow to never do that again. Repeat the next day. read more

I also tried the Peach Cobbler, an Irish Cocoa, and a Spiked Cider.. all for $9 and the Peach Cobbler was by far my favorite. Peach Schnapps, Vanilla Vodka, and cider served warm. I prefer hanging out at McCoy station for eating, drinking and meeting up with friends. Some of my friends prefer Tusks, and this is largely due to the fact that they are sports fans. I would agree that Tusks is a more comfortable place if you are planning to park it and watch a sports game. It's generally warmer than McCoy's and there is lots more seating (and comfy booths). I live in the Bay Area so the prices for drinks are comparable to a bar in the city. But at a ski resort, I'm not expecting bargain prices on drinks. I generally stick to draft beer but occasionally will have a Bloody Mary. I think they are pretty good here. I usually don't spend a lot of time indoors when I am snowboarding at Mammoth. But for those who only like to "occasionally" ski and prefer hanging out in a warmer, festive environment, Tusks is probably your best call! read more

So after the some of theeee worst skiing or snowboarding conditions on 11/20/11 anyone can ask for, Tusks Bar at Main Lodge was where I spent most of the day. I had more drinks at Tusks bar than I had runs on the slopes that weekend. There's a fireplace, TV for sports, food is near by and most importantly a full bar. If you're not on the mountain, you'll be at Tusks. Major plus about being at Tusks is that you get to see everyone without their goggles and beanies on. Tusks converted me, a non- believer, into a "HALLELUJAH AMEN" believer of the morning Bloody Mary. Bailey's and coffee is a subtle way of easing into the mood for a day out on the slopes. A Bloody Mary however, especially one made by John, is a shock to the blood stream and an immediate adrenaline rush. One of those babies flushes your cheeks even before stepping out onto the snow! John, the handsome bartender, knew how important our morning ritual had become, and several times accomodated us with our a.m. dosage, even before the bar had officially opened. Approaching the chairlift with a confident swagger, flushed cheeks, a warm belly and loose muscles is all you need to set the tone for a killer day on the mountain. Tusks is located upstairs in the main lodge and during high season has live bands playing in the afternoon well into the night. They have a full bar and serve appetizers. The staff is friendly and they let you bring in food from the main dining area. They have great views of the skiers/snowboarders coming down the mountain. They also have outdoor seating, but the fireplace inside is cozy. read more

It was nice to get the ski boots off and sit by the fire, but the music they were playing was too loud and annoying to really relax. Generally too loud (band or no band), too crowded, too hot and the service is too slow. But what do I care--I just had a great day of snowboarding, and any cocktail or beer they bring me will taste especially good. If they could make one change (other than dialing down the PA of the live band and staffing the place up), it would be to get rid of the wide wooden captain's chairs so we'd all have more room to sit. Points for having lots of hooks on the beams to hang your jackets, though. Food: usual pub grub. Will it come to the table cold? Star One: Atmosphere. Usually buzzing with buzzed snowboarders on a brief hiatus, the arrangement of tables makes for a close encounter with strangers having a similar mindset: mountain hedonism. Star Two: Service. Somehow in the potential chaos, the waiting staff moves musically through the tightly packed stools to get beverages to patrons in a prompt manner from the bartender maestros. Star Three: Selection. A solid lineup ranging from different fermented agave elixirs to the kids hot cocoa, it would be hard for any thirsty customer to not find something with which they may quench their downhill induced thirst. (potential) Star Four: Location. At the bottom rather than middle of the mountain (i.e.- not McCoy) somehow gravity can be a detriment to the debauchery and the environment may not always be PG-13. (potential) Star Five: Staffing. While the service is top notch, this conspiracy theorist can't help but wonder if the employer powers that be miscalculate the number needed of wait staff to provide the level of service customers have become accustomed to anticipating. Overall it's certain that this place will be frequented again but, if I had my preference, it would be when the kids were taken back to the condo and runs for the day were concluded so that this environment a tad more conducive to the adult experience might be fully enjoyed. read more

You can order there for apps or even bring in a tray from the meal area of the main lodge. Gets REALLY crowded though - so much there are no seats and its standing room only. Love coming here after work during the wintertime! Awesome waitresses, love the bartenders, and the après there is quite entertaining. Live music, laughter, stories of how rad you got that day, stories of lessons you had or taught, fill the bar.
