My new go to for Chinese food. Firstly they have 9.99 combination plates AND that includes rice and an egg roll- who even does that anymore? I was so stoked to try this place out and I was NOT disappointed at all! The food portion was great, everything my plate came with was super tasty and my belly was happy. I got the combination plates with- boneless spare ribs, an egg roll and crab ragoon and since it was a combination plate I got another egg roll and rice. You can't go write! It was flavorful and amazing for the price. I haven't seen these prices anywhere for a long time. We did pick up- and the food was ready in only 10 minutes- which was indeed perfect. While we didn't eat in we dined out the service was super quick and friendly on the phone. Since then we have ordered one more time and the same thing. Food was GREAT! I've been a fan of this place for a long time. We were there every week, but post covid we haven't been back. The food is great and I would give them 5 stars if they would reopen their dining room. Since covid they seem to have profited from a take out only service, which is not convenient for their customers that want to dine in or don't live in the area. Most people want to go out and eat a warm meal with a friendly service atmosphere. The owners should consider reopening their dining room for ALL of their customers. read more

They have been doing this for more than a year, stating prices have have gone up. They make no attempt to update their prices on the menu. I love this place. The service can be slow but I am not in a hurry when I come here. Delicious fresh sushi and Chinese dishes. All meals can be adapted for spiciness. You can tell them what you like and they make it even if it is not a menu item. I love the Pink Phoenix roll. It is big and sweet and spicy. It has tempura shrimp inside and a special sauce on top. My parents and I went to Providence to get my sister from the airport, and after hours of driving from Maine, we were very hungry. We couldn't decide on what to get but we all agreed that we wanted something inexpensive, open at the late hour of 10 pm, great reviews, nice area, and spicy/flavorful food. Oh, the criteria! I told my dad I found the perfect place, and since I'm not a huge fan of Chinese and they are, I was on board with their Thai-style offerings. My dad immediately doubted me and didn't believe I'd found something to match all these criteria (almost like he expected me to fail). After much back and forth, the majority ruled that we would go to Ye. My sister's only objection was the name (due to Kanye's recent antics). We ordered the steamed veggie dumplings, Singapore noodles, Shrimp with Basil combo (comes with white rice and egg/spring roll) and Thai Style Chicken with Lemongrass (comes with white rice and egg/spring roll). When I arrived to pick it up, there was a menu with a coupon for free Crab Rangoons with an order over $30 (a threshold we had just met). They gave me a massive box of Crab Rangoons. The restaurant itself was nice inside, with plenty of seating and even a bar. The staff was very friendly as well. The food was all very delicious, except for the dumplings which stuck together and lacked any flavor. I would still give it five stars because the rest was very delicious. read more

In boxing terms, I rate this establishment a 10 on the Manny Pacquiao scale, because its punching way above its weight. I recently asked about this place, having read a listing for the Best Chinese restaurants in Every State. Let's say the article piqued my interest, and though the author hadn't bothered to actually dine in the restaurant, I decided to make my way over here for a meal. I'm glad I did. Its not much to look at from the outside, a pretty generic concrete block box in the Arctic section of West Warwick. But they're running some kind of special ship in the back I'll bet. Our waiter was kind and prompt. The food fresh, and hot, and delicious. We started with an order of Nime Chow (Vietnamese), and I am expecting some generic, slipshod version of delivery fast food, and we'll move along. I get these softly rolled pillows, fresh and bright tasting, verdant green mint leave adorned gems. The shrimp inside are briny and sweet, the bean sprouts snap with the taste of the earth. To dress them, a house made and expertly so, sauce of rich peanut grinds and sweet soy. Quite simple, and common dish, rarely done this well. I also thought I'd try a chicken wing or two. Some of my favorite Chinese food stops excel at spicy fried chicken dishes. This one does have a very satisfying crispy crunch, but I found the seasoning lacked the heat and flavor I expected. A second shot at spicy fried chicken was more successful, demonstrably so. That dish, the Loc Lac Chicken (Cambodian), offered an intriguing mix of garlic and black pepper with the tart and sweet of the juice of a lime. Again, outstanding. An order of pan fried Gyoza, filled with spiced ground Pork, was well prepared but not terribly exciting. A generously large bowl of Vietnamese Rice Noodle Soup however, again showed off expert cookery, the thin sections of Pork shoulder had just the right tender feel and nice depth of flavor. The broth was both fragrant and well seasoned, quite well done. This may not be the most adventurous stop on a tour of Asian foodstuffs, but it certainly makes the list of ones where they get the cooking part right. I'm a fan. read more

Here us how it went: -Nime Chow was a little softer than I'm use to. I did enjoy it tho. The peanut sauce was delightful. Not too much fish sauce which occasionally happens. - Viet. Sweet&Sour Soup: more sour than sweet. More salty than both. 3 pieces if canned pineapple. 8 shrimp. Nice and tender. All in all 6.5/10 - Oyster Wings: pretty much perfect. I loved them. 9.3/10. Ha! - Pad Thai Beef: darker than i expected. Oddly under seasoned. Beef was good but noodles we overdone. Ive had so much worse tho. 7/10. When I am on the W. I love the staff and customer service at Ye Express. We have been with them since the beginning. The sushi is fantastic and fresh. I'm not a fan of sushi as a rule and even I found things I could enjoy. Delivery is great if you can get one of the original girls. The new kid they had hired was very rude when he came by. I usually measure a place by their Gen. Tso Chicken. In store it is very fresh. The sauce has just the right consistancy. I think I prefered the original cooking staff that was there when it opened. As time has passed the quality has lowered a bit on certain items. The staff will tailor and meal to your liking and add or subtract as needed. When waiting for take out they always seem to offer tea free of charge. One night while eating there they let me try what they were cooking for themselves. The portions are great. For 30 USD. There are tons of specialty maki, but almost all of them feature spicy mayo, cream cheese, or tempura flakes, generally a worrying indication of heavy American influence. The Thai and Chinese dishes are fairly basic and derivative, tasting generally like their namesake but with either too much salt or not enough. It works in a pinch but you'll thank yourself for visiting or ordering from a restaurant specializing in one specific cuisine rather than this stereotypically underwhelming pan-Asian experience. read more

Don't be put off by the spartan appearance of Ye Express. The place is bright and clean. The staff is abundantly helpful and eager to please, and the food is excellent. We had a combination of Chinese food - soup and steamed dumplings (which were HUGE) - and sushi, and weren't disappointed in the least. The presentation of the "sushi deluxe" platter was superb, and it tasted as fresh as can be. Also, it was nice to have hot sake with our meal. Another couple at the restaurant was there for a repeat visit; they were also very happy with the food and staff. Being used to the wide selection of Asian food in the NYC area (my home region), I can honestly say that Ye Express stacks up just fine. Their Orange Chicken is the best I've had so far in RI. I haven't really expanded my resto experience but I've tried many Asian resto and I was always disappointed. This Orange Chicken is crunchy yet tender in the inside. It's not just sugar too! But you can taste the orangy taste! The chicken loc lac was really good! It actually made me feel like eating a chicharon coz it's just crispy and very flavorful. I'm so glad I had the loc lac for my dinner. The Mochi green tea flavor is all frozen yet it's still good. Not the same Mochi I had in my country but sure this holds a candle to it. :) I didn't like the Chinese siomai unfortunately. It doesn't have much flavor to it. I only ate 2 pieces of the 4 they serve and yet I struggled to finish my second siomai. I don't recommend to order their siomai or it's just a waste of money, time and disappointments. Hope they figure out how to improve their siomai coz I love siomai! :) So far, my experience with Ye express is good. Our waiter was really nice and very accommodating. However I do understand why we waited almost an hour for our food coz it was Friday night and there were a lot of take out orders and I doubt they have many cooks or chef since it's just a small resto. I wanted to try a new Chinese restaurant, as the one I have been going to lately (Hong Kong Restaurant, also in West Warwick) has dropped in quality. Ye Express is also close to me, and got many good reviews, so I figured I'd give them a try. I ordered two combination dinners to go: one was sweet and sour chicken, and the other, beef teriyaki. Both came with fried rice and egg roll. Upon going to pick up my food, the first thing I noticed was that their parking lot is small. Many customers parked in the lot next door, the former location of CVS, and I did the same. The food was ready in the time promised. The fried rice was decent, and better than Hong Kong's fried rice; the egg roll was okay. Beef teriyaki looked appetizing, but had a bit of an 'off' taste. My sweet and sour chicken was okay; the chicken was cooked to the proper consistency, and the sauce was good. Basically, it was a bit better than Hong Kong's food has been lately, but it didn't blow me away. My wife didn't like it at all, but then again, she's not a big fan of Chinese food to begin with. I am a bit concerned with the 1-star reviews, some of which have found, ahem, foreign objects in their food. So, I probably will continue to look around for a new Chinese place. read more

Tonight we found a bug in the food, $119 of food from Ye Express on Main Street in West Warwick. They initially offered us a 15$ refund over the phone. We drove down there and showed them the image, asked them what they thought we should get expecting them to offer a full refund... needless to say they provided a $50.00 refund and said the bug looks like a grasshopper, not a cockroach as if it didn't matter. This place is a diamond in the rough. I tried a few other Chinese restaurants in the area when I first moved to Warwick, and tried no further after I discovered Ye Express. I've only ever ordered take-out, so I can't speak for the sit down experience. I would assume its good. As far as take-out goes the service and food is great. I've ordered from them several times for pick-up and delivery, and the food is always on point every time. My only con about Ye Express (and I don't even consider it that big of a deal) is delivery takes longer than they say it will. If they tell you 45 mins, then expect 60 mins. I would consider it more of an issue if the food wasn't the best, it arrived cold, or if they had poor customer service. Out of all the Chinese restaurants in the Warwick area, this place is a hidden gem worth trying. Great food, great prices, and great people. read more

A hidden gym in the little town of west warwick. I was lured in by the sign (Scorpion Bowls) on the door. It's a nice cozy spot, really clean, nice and quiet inside. The servers are always nice and courteous. The first thing I always order is the scorpion bowl, enough for two and some. I had the general Tao's wing special, shrimp fried rice, crab ragoon and hot and sour soup. All of the food is amazing. Cooked to perfection, hot and prepared exactly how I like. The waiter was very attentive, cool and funny. We took our time eating with no rush. We paid, took our doggy bag and thanked everyone. I've been three times this month with no intention of stopping. The inside is smaller than other options in town but we've never had to wait for a table when we come in (Friday dinner.) They do a big take-out service which can sometimes slow down the kitchen, but the friendly staff is always top notch. As soon as I was seated I was brought water, tea and a nice salad. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I orderee the General chicken lunch combo that comes with a choice of soups. I ordered sweet and sour soup (which is made to order). The soup was probably the best hot and sour soup I ever had. Shortly after the lunch was brought to my table by the owner. She oversees every thing in the kitchen to assure quality. The portions were good, the food tasted great. After hearing many good things I went in to give it a try and pick up take out. I ordered beef and broccoli combo, which was good but had a ton of juice that covered my rice... My mother ordered generals chicken which was extremely good. My mother, cousin and I all disliked the rice, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't really good either. Egg rolls were alright. I struggle with the star rating in that I am writing about a recent delivery experience not about the food... (the food is decent). I have been ordering delivery from Ye Express for some time and (shame on me!), never looked closely at the bill, but always thought it seemed a little high for what I ordered. This most recent time I kept track of the cost of my order and found the bill was high. I called to inquire and found out that because I live 4.5 miles from them (outside of their 3 mile range), they have been charging me their regular $1.50 delivery fee PLUS an upcharge. I am not sure what it has been previously, but this time the upcharge was $4.00 ON TOP OF the $1.50. Are you kidding me??? I live 1+ miles beyond their normal delivery range and they are charging me a 300% premium on top of their delivery charge. I am sorry to say I am done with Ye Express. I am disappointed because their food is good, but this charge is ridiculous. PS - I noticed in another review that their delivery range was "5 miles". With the current price of gas I wonder why it is now 3? Also, no reference to this on menu, nor website. read more

This place largely seems to be utilized for take out more than dine in. However the restaurant has a decent feel and is more comfortable than many Chinese food places. Their menue has a good variety of the standard take-out type fare plus expands into a few other varieties like Be Bong and the like. The waitress was attentive and friendly making sure we had everything we needed and that the food was satisfactory. I had the hot-n-sour soup and the Moo Shu (chicken). I typically judge a Chinese food place by their hot-n-sour soup. I think a lot can be told by the freshness of ingredients and the quality of the broth. I can tell you what I am NOT looking for is canned mushrooms and snot-textured broth. Ye Express hot-n-sour soup was on the higher end of my pleasure scale for this dish. I am not saying this type of soup is the best ever, but I enjoy it at Asian places more than most (tom kai-gai is at the top of my list). Their broth was light and almost runny. it did have some thickener in it but not much. The soup had a bit of kick which is also missing from many soups of this variety. The mushrooms were FRESH!!!!! almost unheard of. the other ingredients had 'bite' to them at least telling me that if they were canned at one point, they hadn't been sitting in a slurry getting soft. The Moo Shu is also a dish that the difference between a great experience and a dull one can be a small gap. I do enjoy a good Moo Shu though. What makes theirs is two things. The hoisin sauce seemed particularly flavorful. It gave the otherwise fairly bland mix of cabbage and chicken and other things I can't identify the extra boost needed. However, I ate leftovers for breakfast this morning and I can say that it wasn't too bad by itself (without the sauce). Again, my believe is they used hand-chopped cabbage and other veggies. Even this morning after sitting all night they still had flavor and some chewiness. Prices are average and I know the location is a favorite among locals for take-out. read more
