Occasionally, the park will hold certain culture nights, on the weekend that I visited they had a Caribbean night out near the amphitheater. A lot of people showed up and it definitely was not a disappointment. They even had a few celebrity, Caribbean singers. A lot of food vendors and arts and craft vendors were out and about making it worthwhile for the visitors. This park holds a lot of history, the memorial site down near the pond is a great place to watch the sunset. Here's a fun fact, Eisenhower State Park is larger than Central Park in Manhattan. If you ever get a chance to visit, I highly recommend. Not to mention there is also a golf course accessible to the public for a small day fee.

There's also a pool area but I believe it is for Hempstead residents only. There are some baseball fields that are utilized mainly by summer and Little League teams across the street from the pool. There's also a self-pitch batting cage that is open to the public. It's fun if you have someone who can throw straight balls so you can actually hit them. My brother is not one of these people as evidenced by the bruises along my arm, leg, and hip area. I usually only come here to play some pick up basketball but the courts are a bit uneven and when it rains, the water collects easily and leaves puddles all over the place. The only downside about Rath is that it shuts down at sunset, so there is no midnight basketball available for the gym rats. However, I did circumvent this by climbing the fence with a friend and playing some full-court 1-on-1 past 9pm without any night lights. We had to stop every once in a while because there were park keepers and popos driving by but for the most part we were gravy. The other downside that I must mention is that some of the kids in the area are obnoxiously immature and they tend to frequent this park at all times, day or night, so that may hinder the overall fun had depending upon proximity to these little rascals. I don't think there is a solution to that except better parenting but that doesn't seem to be a priority for some in the area.

Such a simple process booking and the appointment was so informative. The two certified techs were so knowledgeable and friendly as they have been doing this for years. If you go up and down the long way, you can get a nice 3.5 miles in on this baby with some hills. Throw in a weighted vest, and you're getting yourself a solid light workout. There are already so many reviews, so just some notes: 1) Make your way around the current dump (also a Nassau County gem, seriously) and drive slowly. 2) Parking is tricky at certain times of the day and on weekends. Make sure to come before 9:30 on beautiful days, or else you'll be parking far, far away. More steps, If you really want them I guess. 3) Wear your sunscreen! Skin cancer is no joke, and it's pretty bright up top with not a lot of coverage if you walk around to the lake. 4) Beware...No lights in the bathroom and really not the best place to use the loo. There however is a shopping center close by... 5) Look out of all sorts of critters from birds to bugs.. including ticks.

This means you do not hear any cars, you do not see people walking by, there is no noise, ad the park hardly ever gets crowded because of this. Is this a plus or what! Besides this the park is FREE. The grounds are VERY WELL kept, there is never garbage around, the grass is beautiful, and the best is the park is on the water! What parks around here sit on the bay with the view of boats and the bay? The bathrooms are open, basketballs, tennis, softball, kids play area, shuffle board, and the park even has the equipment to lend you. There are people fishing in the far end which is nice to watch.

The only thing I cannot comment on is the state of the bathroom. I didn't have a chance to enter it therefore I have to deduct a star for that unknown element. My favorite is the 8 new pickleball courts shared with tennis courts but the primary use is for pickleball. The courts are lighted for nighttime play and always gets a good crowd. Other activities are as follows: Racquetball Courts Basketball Courts Jogging paths Pool Indoor ice rink Baseball field Playgrounds Dog park Archery There may be more activities available but these are the ones I noticed and have made use of. Staff is terrific. They keep the park clean and maintain the facilities.
