Neat looking place. I was really excited to get a sandwich here after reading the reviews. I went with the special of the day combo, which was a French dip. The cashier set the hot sandwich down seconds later. Had I realized that it was already made and sitting in a warmer, I would've ordered something different. Then they charged me about $3.50 more than was displayed on the large menu board. I understand price increases, but this was a little strange to see one thing and be charged something completely different. The flavors in the sandwich were good, but the bread obviously wasn't due to whatever heating method they were using. It wasn't as good as I had hoped. read more

First of all, let me just say, this is the best deli north of San Francisco. On Tuesdays, there special is Rueben sandwiches. I love Ruebens. These are the best I've ever had by far. The ratio between corned beef, sauerkraut, dressing, and marbled rye bread is perfect. They use a panini press to serve them hot. Absolutely delicious. If you're in Yreka, give it a try. What a terrific source of quality meat and treats. I went in because I was in the area and I saw that they supported local FFA kids. I do too . It was one of those sunny, almost warm February days, so I rode south to Shasta Valley and the old mining town of Yreka and in one of the 19th century downtown stores found Miner St. Meat Market. Of the many sandwiches available, I ordered the daily special, a rueben. It had lots of good tasting meat but was skimpy on the sauerkraut. Your choice of drinks is the Coke fountain machine or bottles and cans from the cooler. The service seemed a little slow but maybe there were take-out orders to prepare first. The building is old with great hard wood floors and has a few tables and some counter space. The choice of meats is extensive. This place is a great local shop. My wife and I love all of their deli sandwiches. We have also purchased their meats. I made Beef Wellington for the first time ever, with a beef tenderloin I purchased here. It came out great. I was very pleased recently, when they had USDA-prime Ribeye steaks for the same price per pound as the local Walmart for USDA-select steaks (2 grades difference). Those were some great steaks. I also regularly buy their Briskets and Tri-tips. Their bacon is fantastic too. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I love the rustic decor. read more

I forgot to take a picture of our sandwiches because we drove right into them. My wife got a hot pastrami and I got a roast beef. They were actually big enough for two meals. They folks that work here are very friendly and helpful for first time customers. Was excited for the Sunday to come. That's when they have the barbecue outside. Ordered ribs ahead of time. Told them I would be there 3:30 to 4 o'clock and not to give my ribs away. Wanted them to cook as long as possible. I got there before 4 and the guy laughingly told me that he had sold all the ribs. Wasn't sure whether to cry or to yell I was so upset. I have been an almost weekly customer for the past year but the last two visits were less than desirable. First, the customer service these past two visits have been poor. I watched an elderly lady wait patiently for about 5 minutes while employees not only ignored her but were standing around talking. Second, I paid almost $17 dollars for a sandwich I never received. I placed my order to go,I thought an employee was making this sandwich, meanwhile other employees continued to talk and have fun. The person making the sandwich actually stopped and went and joined the evidently funny conversation others were having for a few minutes, only to come back and finish the sandwich. Now 20 minutes have gone by. They finish by calling out someone else's name for the sandwich. Evidently a call in order? Regardless, I could wait another 20 minutes to have my order made so I left. I told the employees that I didn't have time to wait. I believe one of them said "ok, have a good day" no offer of a refund or an explanation. The food has always been great and the service usually good but I will find another place to eat that wants my business. read more

We stopped by this little deli on our way back home from Oregon. I like to think I am a connoisseur of pastrami sandwiches and I have to say, the hot pastrami with Swiss cheese was amazing! First off the meat was delicious. That aside ... I won a contest (I never win anything...yeah!!) and had credit for merchandise. There was confusion about it all and we were patient and understanding. Finally the owner begrudgingly agreed to give the credit. His attitude was less than friendly. Regardless of his sour attitude I told him how excited I was to have won as it brought me to his wonderful market. Not much response. We did our shopping shopping then waited a good 15+ minutes to "pay". The owner completely ignored me and I had to wait for one of the young men working to squeeze me in between their customers. This is a fantastic Deli and meat market. An an amazing find like something in a big city foodie neighborhood, but with the charm and service of a small town. I called ahead and needed a quick turn around on 20 boneless rib-eyes for a spontaneous company function out on the lake. The butcher only had a few ready, but promised me he could prep them in an hour. I showed up to a really nice walk up deli counter that had lots of sauces, condiments, and picnic items available and picked up my wrapped order from the friendly staff. Without a doubt, one of the worst deli sandwiches I've ever had. We ordered two turkey sandwiches on rolls. Pretty basic stuff. The rolls were about 2 inches thick on either side, real low quality white bread, and dried out and stale to boot. There was barely any turkey, one thin slice of cheese, and a single lonely pickle slice on a foot-long sandwich. Really? For $10? Same with Chicken breasts, hamburger and sausage. 3 types of fantastic bacon like I remember from when a child and going to butcher market with my grandparents. This past August we had an outdoor birthday for my great grandson with many family members for the first time in 3 years. I calle and asked if they could sell me 30 chicken legs in a week. No problem. 2 days before pickup I called all stressed because now I needed 56 legs! ' yes, we sure can do that for you're.
